So I need to boost the volume of all my devices, including Android.
The app or whatever it is needs to work in a way that, whatever device or media is playing using the default volume controls, without interacting with any third-party utility software or whatever, I can increase the volume above 100%.
It can be anything, an app, a script, whatever that enables that functionality. It doesn't have to be built-in, but it needs to act as if it's built-in.

##### Rationale
Occasionally, audio from a very useful proprietary application is too quiet to be audible. This is impossible to remediate at the application level because:
1. I am unable to request that the application author(s) implement a method of increasing the volume >100% intra-application, because it has no issue tracker.
1. I do not want to record the audio and manually increase the volume >100%, because that would be inconvenient.
##### Query
Instead, hopefully it is achievable at the OS level. Consequently, how can I set any and/or all sound channels (especially the media channel) to >100% volume?
---
##### Feasibility
1. [
xdaforums.com/t/mod-volume-boost-on-all-default-sounds-by-150-200-full-dynamic-range.2708966
](https://xdaforums.com/t/mod-volume-boost-on-all-default-sounds-by-150-200-full-dynamic-range.2708966/post-51709803) mentions that something referred to as "Viper4Android" provides this functionality, explicitly system-wide. However, I've been unable to ascertain confidently what it is, nor which of myriad projects sharing that name is relevant.
1. This is available in the "Audio" plasmoid of (V6.2 of) the KDE Plasma DE, so I don't consider what I request unreasonable.
It's evidently not infeasibly difficult to implement for a custom AOSP distribution developer. Consequently, I expect it to be available in at least one of them, if it is infeasible otherwise.

I looked around in the system settings and the Galaxy Wear app settings but I don't see any option to adjust this.
Is there a way to decrease the overall Bluetooth audio volume so the lowest notch isn't so loud?

I use an ambient sound app through headphones while I sleep. This usually works quite well, except for the occasional night where i get woken up because Android has decided to drop the volume and display a message to the effect of "Listening at high volume for a long time can damage your hearing." I haven't managed to transcribe the exact wording yet because I'm usually grumpy and attempting to get back to sleep when it happens. I'm fairly certain that it can be displayed more than once per reboot cycle, as it was displayed last night despite my having used the phone this way numerous nights over the past couple weeks. (
uptime
currently shows 13 days.)
FWIW, I'm probably risking permanent hearing damage by doing this, but that seems a better bet than the certain negative effects (acuity, mood, cancer) of chronic sleep deprivation.
Is there a way to disable this "feature", with or without root?

I recently started using some old speakers, but they're too loud even at the minimum volume. The speaker wires are directly connected to a custom device that uses an amplifier chip and an ESP32 to connect to BT.
The device has no built-in control except for a simple volume booster, which does barely anything, and a bass booster (both are just on-off and not more).
So far, I tried disabling absolute volume, which worked - before it went back to normal the next day. Nothing changed in that time, no hardware nor software updates or changes. Restarting phone and speakers, re-pairing and reprogramming the ESP does nothing. The volume stays the same no matter if the option is enabled or not.
Disabling absolute volume does still work when I use my Nothing Ear's.
The volume can be set to a comfortable level if I connect via my Windows laptop instead of my phone.
Changing the EQ and/or manually dragging the volume slider down to the lowest possible setting instead of using the buttons works somewhat, however they are still too loud.
I tried installing some apps, most of which didn't work at all, except for wavelet, which again reduced volume but not enough. It also didn't seem to lower all frequencies, which made the sound worse.
Sound Assistant I heard about a few times, but it isn't compatible with my phone for whatever reason.
Does anyone know any other solution (software based much preferred) to reduce overall volume or fix the absolute volume setting, or any ideas as to why it just stopped working?
- Phone: Galaxy M31s (Android 12)
- ESP32 with A2DP for BT
- STA339BWS13TR amplifier chip
- 2 random 20+ year old 6 Ohm Philips speakers I found in the basement

I need to play two audios from two different apps at the same time. For example, I could play LiChess while a YouTube is being played. The problem is that most apps don't support adjusting their volume levels in regard to the system volume, but simply adjust the system volume itself. So, if I raise the system volume because the YouTube video has very low volume, the sound effects of LiChess become too loud.

I'm joining a Zoom call on my laptop, but I also want to join the same call on my Android device in order to share my Android device's screen and to use my Android device's camera. I don't want to hear other people's voices coming from both my laptop and my phone, I only want to hear their voices coming from my laptop. So I need to turn off the volume on my Android phone.
If I press the Volume down button, Zoom won't let me decrease the volume all the way to zero. I expected they developed the app this way to help users who don't realise that the volume on their device is set to zero. However, in my use-case, this is proving annoying, as I'm now hearing the same voices coming from my phone and from my laptop.

How to mute ad sound by default?

When I use the volume control during a call, I can put the slider all the way down to zero but the call is still audible - either the slider only acts on the ringtone, or the slider is capped at a minimum (non-zero) volume level. How do I make the call completely silent?
(For context: I make calls using a relay service, where I type, and a remote assistant speaks and types the response back to me. This service involves making the call on my phone, so I still get the sound of the people talking - I want to silence this.)

When listening to media on my phone (Android 11) for the last week or so, the audio will change at random and unprompted, e.g.:
- rewinding or fast-forwarding (NB - these functions are mapped to my volume keys if that is relevant)
- volume going up or down (including down to zero volume, and up to max)
- media pausing at random and also playing at random (this is the biggest issue, as even if I have force-quit my media application, any time the phone is turned on, the application randomly restarts and may start playing my most recent audio at any volume.)
It does not happen in a predictable way - sometimes behaviour is normal for hours at a time, sometimes there is a glitch every few seconds. It does not seem to be related to network issues or my headphones, and the volume change buttons don't seem to be obviously broken (and also shouldn't affect pause/restart functions). Without touching anything, I have also occasionally seen the volume slider oscillate randomly up and down. This happens across several apps.
I cannot tell if it is a hardware or software issue. Is there any way to either diagnose the cause of this sort of problem, or any way to lock the volume or pause-play functionality so that it does not change unless I explicitly confirm it?

I've already tried Developer Options > Disable absolute volume, which didn't seem to make any difference. I'm using a Pixel 2 (stock Android 11) with Soundcore Life Q20 headphones.

What I would like to know is if there is an application or a modification possibility with ADB or other means that would allow me to have more volume levels (for example: from 0 to 50 or from 0 to 100).

I have to constantly adjust the volume, especially to turn down ads and loud action scenes or dramatic soundtrack swells in video, but turn up to keep dialog audible, etc. I need something that does this automatically, like a dynamic compressor/limiter/normalizer. If apps are available for this, I prefer those that are free and don't require root.
I have searched the Google Play Store and found nothing with this feature system-wide. Some media players/streamers have it built-in just for their own content (probably excluding ads, usually to handle songs mastered to different levels), sometimes called something like "smart volume." There are many apps that process audio files offline and add a "replay gain " to their metadata, which some media players respect. I'm looking for the same kind of thing, but applied to all media audio output in real-time, including ads.
Windows has "loudness equalization " option built-in to their sound manager, and VLC has it as an effect in the desktop version.
Googling indicates that ViPER4Android may work, but it requires root and I can't find a definitive statement that it has this feature, and it looks like it doesn't easily install on some devices. If it does and is the only option, I would consider rooting.
A great option would be if Android could run LADSPA plugins like Linux.
Is this possible?

I have a OnePlus 3T, and recently updated it to LineageOS 16, from 15.1 - however I imagine this applies to any device with Android 9.
I realise that Android 9 has changed the default behaviour of the volume keys, to adjust the media volume by default. Whilst I can appreciate that some users might find this useful, I much preferred the ringer volume being changed by default and the media volume changing when media was being played. It seems like now there is no way to change the ringer volume using the hardware keys.
Is there any way to undo this change in defaults and make the volume keys adjust the ringer volume by default? Essentially I want to do the *opposite* of this question . Ideally I'd like not to have to install some questionable app to do it, I have root access so can use that if there's some command that I can change.
Or at the very least, is there a way to stop the ringtone from playing when I change volume from the "Sound" setting menu? Typically when I am changing the ringer volume I'm trying to reduce the amount of noise I might make, but changing the ringer volume through the "Sound" menu causes Android start playing my ringtone, which is very annoying.

There are some emergency alerts I would be very grateful to receive even when I'm sleeping, but so far I've only receive alerts for things that didn't actually put me in danger or for things that I could literally do nothing to help with until I woke up the next day.
I would like the emergency broadcasts to be silenced at night, specifically the ones in the categories "Show severe threats" and "Show AMBER alerts." I would still like to receive these alerts (so I can do something about them in the morning if I need to), just without any sound, and just for the period while I'm sleeping. Additionally, I would prefer to still have "Show extreme threats" and "Presidential alerts" sound at night if it is possible.
I know this is a fairly specific order and in all my searching on this subject I have found no way to silence the emergency alerts without unsubscribing from them altogether, so I don't know if this is currently possible. But that's why I came here, to ask if there's something I've missed so far.
Please note: I am talking about the emergency broadcasts you access through "Settings," rather than the feature available in "Google Now" I've seen floating around this website.
