I have an **Oppo A18**. When I am using a physical mouse through OTG, I can't scroll or select when the cursor is on the right side of the screen in browsers and various apps/games. I have seen the same issue posted in Android app/game-specific threads by people with different make/model phones. In native Android apps, I am able to use the full screen. But it's clear there is some compatibility issue with apps made for Android being able to use OTG properly. It's not exactly 50% of the screen, which makes me think OTG input is not quite recognising that the phone is in landscape mode and only using the width available in portrait mode, but on the left side only. I am unable to scroll on the right side of the screen using OTG in landscape mode in any situation where I should be able to and I am unable to click on the right side of the screen when connected to a local server in AVNC and RealVNC. I was unable to click the right side of the screen in both Minecraft and Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic but now these both appear to be working. I tried a handful of random games when I got this phone that had the same issue but cant remember what games they were. Two notable free apps this can be tested on include Opera (v88.3.4661.83672) and Chrome (v135.0.7049.100). To be clear, the cursor can go on the right side of the screen, but I can't left/right-click or scroll. Hovering over something registers and displays hover text. Has anyone known of a fix?

I tried to find the folder with my flash drive contents in /etc - there was nothing about my flash drive. I searched in /storage/emulated/0 - there were contents of my internal SD card. I downloaded some applications from Google Play (e.g. Nexus Media Importer, OTG disc manager). It worked, but only for reading. Is there a way to write to my flash drive? Please notice that I DON'T want to ROOT.

If I connect it to my phone (Pixel7), in the Files app I can only see the SSD (and no, it's not the SD card that is improperly seated). Is this an Android restriction or a file manager restriction, and if the latter, are there file managers that will access both devices? I have seen [this question](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/90295/otg-is-it-possible-to-connect-two-devices) but that was 10 years ago....

I own a tablet with Jelly Bean installed. I usually connect a pen drive to it using an OTG cable and it works fine (except for NTFS file system and the below problem too). The issue is when the screen turns off after the time out while the storage device is connected, it disconnects itself. If I turn the screen on, it will be mounted automatically. It is annoying to change the time-out now-and-then and keeping it on for a long time by touching the display. Is there any solution to this?

How (& why) does just inserting a USB flash-disk into my Android (15) phone cause 15 directories to be written?

Just in case what I'm seeing is OS specific: I am running the latest OxygenOS on a OnePlus 10 Pro 5G (GLO NE2213_15.0.0.401(EX01)).The phone is rooted via Magisk but I doubt that matters (except for how i can use the phone to format the disk; but the behavior is identical when I format with a PC) I format a USB flash-disk with exFAT, via mkfs.exFAT /dev/sxx1, either from a root termux shell on the phone, or from a root terminal on my (arch) linux PC. Either way, the format succeeds, and I can immediately mount the flash-disk via mount /dev/sxx1 /mnt/. The disk is empty, and I can write and read files on it. But if I then unmount it, unplug it (from the PC or the phone), and then insert it into the phone (which might mean "insert it back into the phone), then the phone automagically both mounts the flash-disk AND writes the following 13 directories/folders onto it:
Alarms Audiobooks Documents LOST.DIR Music Pictures Recordings
Android DCIM Download Movies Notifications Podcasts Ringtones
I would be grateful to read the explanation of: 1. Just what process/system/thingie in Android is noticing the insertion and reacting in this way? I put "Android udev?" into title of the question as a way of asking how whatever is doing that mount+write compares with udev.... 2. Is there some profound (or even just necessary) reason for or benefit from providing all this structure on EVERY disk one might insert? The fact is that I inserted the flash disk so that I could do a TWRP backup to it. And although there are more annoying things about my phone than just needing to erase some folders whenever i want to use a USB flashdisk, perhaps something "bad" will happen if I do? And in any case, I might well want to retrain it to do something else, once I know what's going on. thanks PS: I note that SE points me to [this and this ; but neither explains what system service is doing this udev-like functionality, nor why it is now MORE invasive than it used to be (in the sense that it now writes 13 directories, and not 2. Perhaps it's a OnePlus/OPPO "improvement" ...)

So, I have a OnePlus device running stock OxygenOS. I decided to connect an accessory to my device through an OTG cable/adapter but I see that the device doesn't detect or shows any response when I insert it. My cable/adapter works in other devices, so I'm a bit clueless here. How do I get my OTG cable/adapter working in my OnePlus device?

I noticed that either USB key or the Razer Kishi gamepad where undetected by my device although it did work some time ago. It may be related to an update or a material problem, I don't know. I tried the devices on both my computer and other android devices and they are perfectly detected. I have no setting to toggle on Settings > Additional Settings, while I saw on the internet that OTG devices have a setting to toggle on for OTG. See attached picture for the specs of my phone. Is there any way to confirm whether it's a software issue or a physical issue ? And would anyone know which steps to take in either case ? enter image description here EDIT: Extra information provided: enter image description here

I searched the internet for a solution and I found a tutorial that says I have to convert the filesystem of the hard drive from NTFS to FAT but the problem is there is no tutorial for converting NTFS to FAT (not FAT32) because FAT32 isn't readable on my Android device either. So can you please help me to make my external hard drive readable on my Android device?

When traveling I usually only have my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+) with me but not a real PC. So to have a quick check of the pictures I took during the day with my DSLR camera I'd love to use the big tablet screen (or even the hotel TV connected with HDMI) and not the small camera display. So I got myself an USB-C "dock" that can read SD Cards (and also output HDMI). Using the Samsung file viewer I can now see the internal storage, the SD Card (which is the micro SD in the tablet internal reader) and also "USB storage" - which is exactly the SD card from my DSLR that I want to view. So everything could be fine. But no gallery app that I tried could access the "USB storage". The only thing that worked was to open an individual picture by selecting it in the Samsung File app and then choosing the picture viewing app. But even in this case the viewing app couldn't open any other picture of the USB attached SD card by itself. What possibilities do I have to view my pictures in such a setting where the SD card is in a card reader connected by USB?

I bought a *Gamesir X2s* (mobile controller, similar to adding half an Xbox or PlayStation controller to either side of your phone) recently and have had connectivity issues with my Samsung Galaxy A54. When I plug the Gamesir X2s into my phone, it does not detect it. However, the Gamesir X2s has a USB-C port that can be used for charging the phone through the Gamesir X2s. If I try charging my phone like this, it will detect the Gamesir X2s, and I can unplug charging and the phone will continue to detect the Gamesir X2s with no issues. Presumably, because of capacitors inside of the Gamesir X2s, I can also plug in a charger into it when the phone is not plugged into it, and then take the charger out and plug my phone in, and they will properly connect. I can also unplug the Gamesir X2s from my phone and plug it back in and still have it detected. This seems to work up to about a minute after the Gamesir X2s has been either plugged into a charger or the phone. Is this an issue with the Gamesir X2s, or my Samsung Galaxy A54? And is there any way I can fix this issue (such as changing settings in my phone)? I found that a USB-C male to USB-A female adapter cable, when plugged into my phone, came up as a USB device. I thought this was odd because it is just a cable and not a USB device. However, I also have a USB-A male to USB-C female adapter, and in combination using both adapters and plugging in my Gamesir X2s into my phone, the Gamesir X2s is recognised and receives power. I can then unplug it all and quickly plug the Gamesir X2s directly into my phone and it all works. So I guess I have found a solution, though I'd still like to find the specific root cause of this, if possible.
