# Current status
## Device issue
I have a Asus Nexus 7, I can't flash anything with
fastboot
because all flash procedures I have read need to unlock (using fastboot oem unlock
) or mount /cache
partition and for some reason when I try something I get freezed mounting /cache
partition.
More details about this please read: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/89892/nexus-7-error-failed-to-mount-cache , which still **UNSOLVED**.
## Asus support
I asked to Asus Support Service (in USA and Mexico) and they answer that this device do not have support.
# My claim
So I want to try to flash using a tool like Odin. Maybe it can solve my problem (now I have an expensive *paperweight*).

I just bought a Nexus 7 (2013) and an OTG cable. I wanted to connect a flash drive to it. When I connected it, nothing happened.
I tried to find the folder with my flash drive contents in
/etc
- there was nothing about my flash drive. I searched in /storage/emulated/0
- there were contents of my internal SD card. I downloaded some applications from Google Play (e.g. Nexus Media Importer, OTG disc manager). It worked, but only for reading.
Is there a way to write to my flash drive? Please notice that I DON'T want to ROOT.

Device: Nexus 7 (2013 WIFI)
ROM: AOKP_FLO_KITKAT_NIGHTLY_2014-07-31
Rooted: Yes
Recovery: TWRP (Not sure if this is needed)
I am posting this because I recently started getting "insufficient storage" error on my device. I've had this before and I knew exactly had to fix it because I had come back from a vacation then and there were a lot of pictures on the device; So it was a simple matter of moving all the pictures and videos off the device for it to start working again.
This time however it is a little confusing for me. I will start with some pictures:
*Settings > Storage* / *ES File Explorer* > Top_left menu > Tools drop-down > SD Card Analyst (click images for larger variants)
So far everything looks fine, I seem to have a lot of space left to install one measly app right? Just to confirm, I used Clean Master to try to move some apps to device storage:
Clean Master > App Manager > Move
No gimmicks here, Clean Master sees that I only have one storage medium on my device. So why do I get these errors?
*Google play* (Trying to install an app that is less than 1MB in size) / AIDE (Trying to run an app)
I'm just confused about the whole thing. Everything else seems to be saying I **have** enough space, but apps are not being installed because I **don't have** enough. What can I do here?
EDIT: Even more weirdness, it won't let me install the 300Kb file with the image I posted above, but it lets me install a 3Mb file from the playstore. Basically I can install some apps but not others and it doesn't matter the size, my device just wants to make me crazy no problem. Ex. This app (2.6M) installed fine, but this one (2.1M) didn't due to "Not enough space".
**What I have tried:**
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1834105
- Installing and running DiskUsage and here is a screnshot:
Couple observations:
--> It let me install this App and still not letting me install the other apps I have tried with the insufficient memory message still showing
--> The above pic shows that I have enough space left on the
Note I have tried the solution posted at the "Possible Duplicate" link and it did not work nor did I expect it to. The problem here is not that I have insufficient space to install apps because as you can see, I have a lot of space and I am able to install some apps. The problem is deeper than that and probably has to do with the way files are installed on my tablet

/data
partition to install atleast A LOT of apps!
- Output of running the df
command:

I did a bit of searching, however most of the info I found is for using a Wacom tablet on an Android device. I've never used a Wacom device, however I have been doing some graphic editing in Gimp, and think it would be much easier than just using a mouse. And since I have a Nexus 7, it seemed like the logical place to start. I would have to use the Nexus as a USB peripheral for the computer, and I don't know if it is possible to transmit the touch screen coordinates to the PC.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it!

I rooted my Nexus 7, and it was working fine on Android 5.1.1 - albeit very very slowly. I got tired of the lag and tried to downgrade to Android 4.4.4 following this link .
The tablet went into bootloader (fastboot) mode and stayed there for a long time. At this time, I could cycle through START, RESTART BOOTLOADER, POWER OFF, and RECOVERY MODE options, but NONE of them work except OFF. So I switched it off, and now, it does not boot up at all, not even in the recovery mode. It is just blank, I see no sign of life at all. I cannot get it to start, so there is no way I can use ADB or Fastboot for this.
I already have adb/fastboot setup on my PC, but it does not recognize the tablet. I did go through the similar question https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/126570/i-have-a-hard-bricked-nexus-7 but it did not help.
Is there any way I can solve this?

I want to restore factory android on my Nexus 7 2012 WiFi.
I'm following the official guide .
I start the device in fastboot mode by executiong:
adb reboot bootloader
This works well.
But **when I run any command that uses**
fastboot
**the execution gets stuck**, eg:
$ fastboot oem unlock
The same issue with flash-all.sh
.
I also noticed that if I run
adb devices
it doesn't list the tablet. However it gets listed if I run the same command after entering Recovery Mode (I have TWRP recovery).
**More details/preconditions:** I used to have CianogenMod on the device but I smashed it by mistake (I removed Android in recovery mode instead of simply wiping the data). I can't find the CianogenMod image anymore on LinageOS site (there is only Nexus 2013 available) so I'm trying to install at least what is available.

I have an old 2012 Asus Nexus 7. How can I get it to connect to wifi again?
My goal is to use it as a digital photo frame, where the software for showing the slideshow of photos is a React app (website) that I've built.
So all I need this tablet to be able to do is browse a website hosted on my LAN.
(Ideally the browser ideally will support localStorage and IndexedDB.)
Currently, I can't get the Nexus 7 to connect to my wifi.
It has some custom limited version of Android 7.1.2 that I barely remember installing.
Sometimes it can see my wifi networks and lets me enter its password, but then never lets me browse the internet. Sometimes the wifi is "Off", and when I try to turn it "On", it just hangs.
My WiFi router is a NOKIA BGW320-505 (AT&T fiber) with WPA-2, WPA-3, and B/G/N/AX.
NOKIA BGW320-505 gives me 3 options in the dropdown for WPA Version: "WPA-1 and WPA-2", "WPA-2", "WPA-2 and WPA-3". It has been on "WPA-2 and WPA-3", and I'd love to keep it there. I temporarily changed it to WPA-2, and even then the Nexus won't connect.
I've already tried a factory reset of the Nexus.
What are my options for solving this? I'd be up for installing a new OS on the Nexus if there is a high chance of achieving my goal.

I have a battery drain issue with a stock Nexus-7 (2013), Android 6.0.1, up to date with monthly patches. The battery is losing 15-20% overnight. Turning WiFi off overnight doesn't reduce it, or not much. The top consumer is just called "10017".
Some background - A recent version of Sygic Navigation was showing high battery usage even when I didn't use the app. I couldn't keep it from running. After exiting it, or after force-stopping it, I would shortly find it running again. I deleted the app but kept its user folder. Maybe related?
I keep Google Account Manager and Google Play Store disabled when I'm not actively using them. This is not new; I've done it since shortly after the tablet was new.
I installed the August patches a few days ago; the tablet was rebooted by that process. The battery issue predates that update.
**How can I find out what it (10017) is?**

Everything I've read suggests I can run 106, and I can certainly sideload later versions.
Why would Chrome stop at 95? Is there any way get it to update without resorting to sideloading? If you've got the same tablet running the stock OS, what version of Chrome did you stop on?

To cut a long story short I wanted to make the system partition larger on my tablet PC as it's far too small to do anything practical on. I used ADB push to put Parted into the root directory and proceeded to resize some of the partitions, but it has failed terribly to the point I have bricked my tablet. I have luckily enough found some guides on the internet to after I got QHUSB_BULK in Windows Devivce Manager. At the moment I have managed to execute the command
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-0-flo.img
but this is temporarily running from RAM as I'm unable to flash any of the partitions as they are "missing".
This is the my original partition table:-
https://pastebin.com/rhhjZtef
From some reading on the internet Linux can only have 4 primary partitons. I'm no expert in Linux. I know some basics but partitions is out of my area of expertise. All I know is that I have 30 partitions that I need to re-create and I don't know what partition type to set them to; primary, logical or extended.
I've played around with the three partition types but I get an error message saying "Too many primary partitions".
Could someone shine some light here please?
Many thanks

I need to gather log info for QA testing. The settings menu "Bug Report" and the power menu "Bug Report" functions don't work for me on my Nexus 7 running Jellybean 4.3 (don't know if it ever worked because I just found out about the function). I get a popup saying "this will take a while..." and after that nothing. Scanning the file system, I don't see anything that looks like a screen capture, and no mail is sent out.
(I can't get the magic {power/sound up/sound down} button combo to work either). The only way I can collect app logging info is by tethering the nexus 7 and using ADB.
Any idea how to get the new bug report mechanism working or why it's not working would be appreciated.

It still works fine on my Google Pixel 2 (OS 11) so don't think it is wifi network related.
The app starts OK, but on trying to live stream an error dialog merely says 'something has gone wrong, please try later' (001). ITV's help is not great, simply says it should work on Android OS after 5.0.
Tried reinstalling to no effect. I notice the app version (10.3.0) is the same on the Pixel and Nexus, but in the play store download, the Pixel version says 55MB, whereas the Nexus is 40MB.
I had exactly the same thing with All 4 some time ago, then suddenly it started to work again.

I bought this tablet on Jan 7, 2013, and have allowed it to update whenever it asked, but I can't tell you what version of Android is has now. However, instead of the "X", I see four colored balls that move into the center, become one white one, and then move out...
I have used it happily since then, until a week ago. I had recently installed an anti malware program, and that may be part of the problem. While I was websurfing, without warning, it went to boot: it went black screen, the four colored balls came in from the edges, and did the usual boot thing. Forever. So, I held down the power button til it shut off (I hadn't powered down in a while...mea culpa), and tried a reboot. Still did te 4-ball X thing forever.
So, I held the power, up AND down volume, and got the screen with the recovery/start/reboot options that you can scroll thru with the volume buttons. Start and Reboot got me back to forever-booting. So, I tried recovery. I tried deleting cache: it said it did it. I rebooted, still looped. So...I bit the bullet, and did the "factory reset, lose all data" option. It said it did delete everything (so it's talking to me and making sense). So then I rebooted, expecting the welcome screen...IT'S STILL BOOT LOOPED!!
OK, so what can I do next? Is there a solution?
Thanks for ANY help!!

**Model:** Google Nexus 7 (2012)
**OS:** Android 4.4.2
**Google+ Build version:** 4.2.3.56698342
**Edit**: I use a Wifi on a proxy server for connection, and that's when the problem arises. When on a direct connection, the app works fine. But on proxy server, it has stopped working since the last update. Prior to this update, the app worked fine even on a proxy server.
