Soul browser (built on Chromium browser open-source), when I highlight a text on a webpage and the Context menu pops up, then I choose Web Search, but instead of opening a new tab with Google Search inside Soul browser, it opens in Google search app.
If I change the search engine to like Duck Duck Go, it still opens in the Google search app.
This is very annoying and I have searched for a solution for over a year. I even posted on Reddit and one other person has the same problem, https://www.reddit.com/r/browsers/comments/1cvp1oj/comment/m4ehgqk/?context=3 .
I am on Redmi Note 12 4G, Android 13, MIUI 14.0.12 (refuse to update to HyperOS).
The weird thing is, if I try the same in Chrome, Kiwi, or Brave, Web Search opens inside the respective browser as it should.
As a note: I have Soul browser on Redmi Note 7 (lavender) Android 11 and Redmi Note 8 (gingko) Android 12, Web Search opens inside Soul browser, which makes this very weird.
Anyone have a clue as to why this happens?
Google Search app setting to open inside browser is switched to OFF.
Is there a way to edit this myself, or any addon app that can redirect Web Search in Soul to open inside Soul - App developer is not fixing this problem, I have asked several times.
Besides this, Soul browser might be the best browser I have had, and I have tried them all.

Using s21, most recent update 01/04/2022. This has been happening for a while.
When I use the Google search bar widget (not the chrome app), the first time I type something into the search bar, it'll either quick close and reopen the keyboard and then I can continue typing, or it'll just close my keyboard and I'll have to hit the search bar again to continue typing. This usually alternates between being fixed with one software update then re-broken in the next, but not always, and it only happens in google. Nothing I've done has fixed this, and it only happens on the first search when I open google, it won't do it again until I close and reopen it.

while her 2nd-gen Nexus 7 and my 1st-gen Moto G got a rather more tasteful monochrome version (screenshot from my Moto G):
Why the difference, and is there any way to swap between the two?

Is it possible to change my settings so that the results to me asking a question through "Ok, google" or typing on the search bar in my home screen, open in my default browser instead of the Google "App"?
I dislike how the Google App isn't actually an app in the sense that I can't open it through the recent applications shortcut, and the broswer-like window isn't actually saved in memory anywhere for me to go back to if I switch out after a search. Additionally it doesn't allow me to filter search results by date, etc. like a normal Google search does.

I really don't like google lens. I've been searching for ways to turn it off. Searching on line usually brings up an answer like this:
> On your Android phone, you go into your settings/apps and click on the 3 dots at the top right of the screen. Choose show system. Scroll down to the Lens, Qlens (or both depending on your phone) and then click Force Stop and Disable (if available). This should stop the service from running until you click on it again or it updates.
The problem is, when I do that on my Andriod phone there is ***no*** Lens nor Qlens listed among the apps (even after clicking show System Apps).
I did find one thing that says to "Disable" (or Uninstall, but Uninstall is not an available option, but disable more-or-less the same) the Google App, and re-enable it. **This works, but only for about 1 day**, after which Google Lens magically re-appears. For three days now I have Disabled the Google App once a day.
***Is there any way to permanently get rid of Google Lens? It's horrible.***

As you can see in the screenshots, I have Kindle installed, but Google Search simply cannot find it for me. Actually, it cannot find any installed apps for me.
Any idea what could possibly cause this?

I am normally fairly astute at being able to change settings etc, however, I have hit a problem I cannot overcome and thought to ask here:
In android chrome, when I perform a search the searches (as of Wednesday) are all performed in google.nl and the results are returned in English. This means the results are more appropriate for someone living in the Netherlands and not in the UK. I was wondering how I change the default search location as I cannot find it in Android at all (My PC based Chrome works as normal, and I can change that quite straightforwardly).
Would love to know how to set the default google search location for chrome back to google.com or google.co.uk.
All assistance gratefully accepted!
Cheers!

On a Galaxy S4 I9505 with Android 4.2.2, typing something in the Google search bar widget on the home screen opens a browser page with search results. The problem is that you can't open multiple tabs from this page, as no menu opens on long-tapping a link.
As the Google bar on the home page is the fastest way to start a search, is there a way to set it so that it opens results in a different browser, or to enable the "Open in new tab" functionality in search results?

After installing Microsoft's Outlook app I noticed that when going to search for something on the Internet by selecting text and searching, I am forced to use Bing instead of my default search engine (Google).
(Screenshot from Firefox)
I have just found out that this is a known issue mentioned by Android Police in 2020 .
I use Firefox 90.1.3 (Build #2015824995) on a Samsung Galaxy S10 and Google is always set as my default. I even removed Bing from the options, yet it is still there when trying the selection search.
I noticed that when using Samsung's Internet Browser, there is the extra option of 'Web search' as well as 'Bing Search' and using 'Web search' goes to my default search engine. That is not on Firefox.
Is there a known way to stop this intrusion into my right to choose which search engine I use when using Firefox?
@Robert indirectly made a good point on settings within Outlook within comments so I had a look.
I am forced not to use my default browser as I cannot set it in Outlook (see below)

I dug through the Cyanogenmod source and found that [a commit](https://bitbucket.org/cyanogenmod/android_packages_apps_mms/commits/15290a70177d1cca473fb40e9eee3ed76249926c) was made that removed this functionality. I haven't been able to understand the reason for this.
Is it possible to re-add this feature? Do I need to configure something?

This feature exists for Firefox and Opera who provide small icons of different engines when typing in the search bar and you just have to click on the one you want to use. Here is an example with Firefox
For example, I am mostly using duckduckgo.com but sometimes would like to use Google. I already know I can add "!g" in DuckDuckGo, but I'm looking for something more straightforward.
Given Brave is based on Google Chrome, I guess that it explains why it is not implemented natively, but maybe an alternative exists in Chrome that would do the job on the Brave browser?

My phone was bought online and it came from overseas. Various **benchmarks** have determined that my phone's Android system and hardware ***does not*** match the description given on the site or the About Phone section. The **About Phone** section says my system is an ***Android 10*** and that I'm running an **eight core processor** with 12 gigs of RAM and 512 gigs of an internal storage.
The various benchmarks determines that I'm running **Android 8.1**. That I have less than 1 gig of RAM and only 8 gigs of internal storage and a ***4 core processor***.
I cannot get a clear-cut picture of my entire system to be able to **Flash** it properly. Is there an app or a website system that isn't going to charge me, that can determine any of the specifics that I need so that I can Flash a new ROM or Find and Flash for me?
I have done every possible search that I know of considering that I am not all that fluent with this area. Most of the benchmarks say that I'm running an ***Alps manufactured machine.*** But I can't verify that they are the manufacturer or that they even have manufactured a phone. So I really need some help. Any help that can be given, I would be greatly appreciative

Has anyone else noticed when voice searching with Google Assistant it'll sometimes change your query slightly but to a question you didn't ask?
This is not a simple case of mis-hearing spoken words; Google is trying to be smarter than me by changing my search query to idiot-proof it.
One example of many I've experienced:
- Asked google: "How to disable 'Application X' from starting with MacOS Boot"
- Search field populated with and results showing for: "'Application X' will not start."
Not what I asked, and this happens frequently.
Is this a preference, is there any way to turn this off?
Any thoughts appreciated.

I got a Nexus 6P and it received the Oreo update yesterday. After installing the update, there were few errors like "Gboard stopped working" etc., That happened only once and the device was working normally for few hours. Now suddenly, I keep getting "Google keeps stopping" in the launcher screen. When I close the popup, the launcher is reloaded and the popup appears again immediately. Phone is currently kind of unusable. Tried to open Settings, but that got closed as well.
Tried checking Play Store for the latest updates, but got none. Anyone else got this issue? Any idea if this can be resolved?

I am looking for an equivalent functionality that is available on the desktop Google Search page: upload an image and search for similar ones.
Unfortunately once Google recognizes that I am on the phone, search with image gets disabled.
I also tried with DuckDuckGo.com but again I cannot find this option that is readily available once I am browsing on the desktop pc.
