How to allow a call recorder app access to call logs?
(Update for Android 14 ???) == Since Android 9 (pie) Google Play has forbidden apps that are not the primary telephony app to access the call logs. The other problem seem to be that the phone recording call quality especially of the party on the other end has seemed to be severely degraded since the prior Android version. For context, read [Google Play Store Changes SMS and Call Log Policy](https://blog.gummicube.com/2019/01/google-play-store-changes-sms-and-call-log-policy/) . [Reddit - App/function to play message to callers before phone rings?](https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/8wf6ew/appfunction_to_play_message_to_callers_before/)
Basically, a simpler version of this: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/77846/accept-call-then-play-a-pre-recorded-voice-message-to-caller
1. The call will pick up.
2. Notify the caller that the phone call is being recorded for quality assurances.
3. Then it will ring on my end if the person stays on the line.
Even better would be if it knows if it's a two-party consent state/country, etc, and plays the message based on the area code.
4. Record the phone call.
I suppose in the paid version, you can select certain phone numbers/strangers and groups from one's phone, and it will play to/record, so that you can exempt certain groups.
Is it programmable?
**Edit:** There is a recording app already, **"All Call Recorder"** it simply doesn't notify the caller. It's possible.

I've got a Motorola Moto G34 (Snapdragon CPU, Android 14, not rooted) and have installed CUBE ACR along with CUBE ACR Helper to record my VOIP calls. It works as follows: as soon as I start a call, I click the recording button, and it begins recording. When I finish the call, it stops recording automatically.
If possible, my goal is to have CUBE ACR start recording the surrounding sounds at first, and when I make a VOIP call, it should continue recording the call, regardless of whether it stops recording the surrounding sounds or keeps recording them as well.
If this is possible, please let me know how to set it up.

I'm not sure if it is the app at fault as they all seem to do the same thing, and this didn't start happening until I updated the Android version towards the end of last year.
Does anyone know of a solution to this issue?

I am trying to record all the video calls with my parents. However, every video chat app that I know does not support a recording option. I have tried 3rd-party screen recording apps but they did not work. It seems the screen recording app clashes with the video chat app for the microphone. So, all I get is a recorded video chat without sound, or a good recorded video chat but the person who I am calling cannot hear my voice.
I searched everywhere and even contacted Google support but with no luck.
Would it be possible, or would I have to wait for the video chat app to start supporting recording?

On Android 14.

Note: I have also installed and enabled the Cube ACR Helper by following the instructions here: https://cubeacr.app/helper.html

I've tried "Voice recognition (software)" and "Voice communication (software)" modes. Neither work.

A while back I was able to use call recording on my Android phone. These days, however, at best I can get only my side of any given conversation recorded, which is not enough for my needs (for example, recording a company doing something shady so I can report them).
I live in Canada, where it is legal to record your phone calls if at least one party is aware of it. However, the feature is not available in my country for some reason . So I'm wondering, what decides whether those restrictions apply or not?
Is it due to my GPS location, in which case if I travel somewhere that supports call recording will I be able to record my calls? Or is it perhaps tied to the device itself, in which case I'd have to buy a phone from a location that supports this feature to be able to use it. Or perhaps is it tied to my carrier, in which case I'd have to somehow get one from abroad to be able to use it?
What decides whether a phone is able to record calls or not?

How can I manage to circumvent the whole block?
Does it relate only to Android or every system?
I want to record on the device itself and not with another device.

I'd like to ask a question regarding screenrecording calls on discord or phone with sound.
Premise
I know that probably some of the readers will write about how it might not be that allowed or permitted because of privacy concerns, but from the other end I could also say that the speakers should also be wary of what they sort out of their mouths in order to preserve their privacy, and all of the latter shouldn't prevent in any way the first end's party to record the conversation in order to store the conversations and safeguard themselves in case of any contention or litigation. In a nutshell, privacy shouldn't prevent one of the parties to record for precaution and proof concerns, especially when this privacy can be kept by controlling what comes out of the mouth.
After a whole plethora of contentions with lots of people that I had UNJUSTLY lost because I could NOT prove anything of what'd been said to me, I decided to take the safeguard route which I'm currently finding hurdles with.
After this little written digression, how can I screenrecord phone or discord calls with voice? I tried the in-built screenrecorder and the whole set of task-related apps but unfortunately the first does not work and the second type either screenrecords soundlessly or it does not screenrecord at all when it comes to calls. How can I manage to circumvent the whole block? Does it relate only android? I'd be glad to receive exhaustive answers and on point about SCREENRECORDING calls with VOICE, not simple records, not recording with a second or third device.
Thanks to every answerer.

Some apps on the Google Play Store claim to be able to record calls on Viber or Skype. I even found some apps not in the play store. I tried some, but I'm not sure if they work. I haven't gotten around to testing any yet. Some reviews of the apps I found seem to be mixed. I don't feel like reinventing the wheel.
I have a second phone that I would use except that **sometimes the calls I make require earphones**.
If it matters, the phone I use for Viber, Skype, etc calls is a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and my other phone is a Samsung Galaxy Mega.
Please don't bring up any stuff about legality.

While poking around the *activities* available for the pre-installed apps on an older non-rooted Samsung Galaxy Android 7.0 phone, I noticed one for recording phone calls. It was located in package
com.android.phone
, and the activity is com.android.phone.RecordCallsAutomaticallyActivity
.
I created a shortcut for the activity and launched it. Sure enough, it brought up a screen with an option to enable automatically recording phone calls. I turned on that option and made a call. I didn't find any new files in storage/emulated/0
. I have a hunch it didn't record, but I don't know how to determine that for sure.
Without breaking this question up into a bunch of separate Android SE questions, I'll simply state my objective: **I want to be able to reliably record phone calls.** Currently, I use an app to do that, but it has failed to record a few recent important calls, and that's a big problem.
So what I'm wondering is:
1. Did I look in the right place to see if the call was recorded? If not, where do you advise looking?
1. Is there any chance of getting this hidden functionality to work (it is not present in the standard UI) without root? If so, is there anything else you advise that I try doing?
1. Will rooting the device make any difference?
