I have a SIP account which I entered into the "Internet Call Settings" of the native Android phone app. I am able to place outgoing SIP calls, but no luck with the incoming ones. I am new to the SIP subject, so I was wondering what I am missing and a description how incoming SIP works would be a plus. **Info:** - Phone: Nexus 4 - OS: Android 4.3 - SIP Provider: DID Logic (sip.didlogic.net) - Google Voice account: available I am on T-Mobile $30 unlimited data and text plan in case it makes any difference, but it still does not work when I'm at home on Wi-Fi. How does the inbound SIP work? Does the phone or Wi-Fi need to constantly listen for a signal on port 5060, or does the phone do a simple keep-alive connection with the SIP server in the background?

(I used to have a mobile service, but now don't.) How can I make either way work, without having a mobile service? Thanks.

Can I get 2 Google Voice numbers? I have a single phone number issued by AT&T. I can sign up, but the verification process requires me to enter a phone number to link and as soon as I enter the phone number to link, the previous Google Voice number gets disconnected. From [their official docs](https://support.google.com/voice/answer/165221?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oco=1) , it appears you can have just 1 GV number - 1 phone. > You can link up to 6 numbers. You can't link a number that's already linked to a Google Voice number. So is there any obvious loophole that can be used to get 2 phone numbers?

I was wondering whether there exist any Android wheelchairs that run Android. These could allow people that were unable to move their limbs but could still use voice to control their wheelchair through voice by talking into a phone in the front part of the wheelchair connected to the wheelchair via Bluetooth. Currently, Android has something known as voice access to control your phone via voice. But it could be nice, if, this mechanism could be extended to connect to a wheelchair via Bluetooth and control it via voice. Perhaps the phone can also be powered on and off via a voice command. Not sure about the charging part, but I think a robotic part that could find the wall socket and charge wheelchair and phone simultaneously would be nice. This would be very useful to people with no arms and legs or to people whose arms and legs were paralyzed such as paraplegic or tetraplegic people, but who could still use their voice to connect to their phone, operate their wheelchair, move about and communicate. Thank you.

Although I have been a long-time user of Google Voice and Hangouts, I only recently got my first Android tablet (WiFi only, no cellular). The way the first two interact with the tablet is puzzling and frustrating: - As far as I can tell, Hangouts is the tool that Google wants us to use for Google Voice SMS messages. - It seems that recently Google removed SMS support from Hangouts except for Google Voice SMS that is still supported, and provided a way to choose what app to use as the main SMS app. - With Hangouts installed, everything seems to work, but I get constantly spammed by a Hangouts notification saying that SMS is no longer supported. I have found no way to silence this notification unless I disable all Hangouts notifications, which would make me miss other Hangouts IMs. - In the attempt to silence the SMS is no longer supported spam notifications, I tried to install other SMS apps, but since my tablet is WiFi only, I am unable to install them. - I only found one SMS app that would install without the cellular hardware (I think called Messenger) and it spammed me with so many advertising notifications that I had to uninstall it, the cure was worse than the illness. How to silence the Hangouts' "SMS is no longer supported" notification? Otherwise, how to install another SMS app on a WiFi-only tablet that stays nice and silent (which is ideal as I probably will never use it, I would only install it to silence the Hangouts notification)?

Sometimes it shows "initializing" and than aborts - sometimes it goes over into speech-recognition mode. Very unreliable :( Not sure why... Occurs on Wifi, as well as on mobile data connection. Havent found a way to reproduce it reliably. Any ideas why? Latest updates installed. Cache already cleared. Different things tried, nothing yet worked :( Thanks!

I use my Google voice number as my main number at my desk. The calls ring in Gmail and I answer them there as well as make calls there from my address book. With fellow Gmail/GApps users, I also receive calls via the "voice chat" feature in GMail. However, ever since I got my Galaxy S3, if I am not active in the GMail window, voice chats ring only on my phone and Google Voice calls do not ring at all unless I go back and do something in the GMail window prior to the call. The calls just ring and ring and eventually go to voicemail (in the case of Google Voice calls). Google voice is configured to send calls only to my PC - I do not want to receive calls on my Android while I am at my desk.

When I get an incoming call on the Google Voice number, both the native phone app and Hangouts both prompt me to answer and seem to be fighting with each other. How can I get the native phone app to stay out of this and just let Hangouts answer the call? [I am fine with a setup where the native phone app never answers, even for calls to the native phone number of the phone, and I never use or give out that number. If I get a call on that number, I know it is SPAM.]
