Recently, my old phone broke and I switched to a new Samsung phone. I noticed that the default file viewer and photo gallery app on my old phone would happily connect to Dropbox, this is not the case with the Samsung Gallery/Photos app. I also found confirmation of this on the Dropbox website https://help.dropbox.com/integrations/samsung-device-app . However, this does make it annoying to send and use pictures that are backed up on Dropbox using WhatsApp and other apps. I wonder if there is a way to select pictures from Dropbox directly. I.e. some apps that will show up in the following list of apps in WhatsApp and other apps: gallery apps P.S. I do know that it is possible to use Dropbox and send something from Dropbox to WhatsApp. However, I find it inconvenient to have to open another app to be able to send pictures. So I would like to be able to instead use WhatsApp to open pictures from Dropbox directly like I used to do with the default gallery app on my previous phone.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 android phone, android 12. There has been an issue with playing music from dropbox for many months now. I can't get my old preferred default music player back. If I just play a song from dropbox it opens in this player by default: unwanted default music player When I open a song by longpress and choosing "open with" it opens my beloved and preferred music player overlay: preferred old default music player It doesn't show a list of apps to choose from and there are no other music player apps installed on the phone. There is no option to choose "always". If I try installing a third-party music player for test, THEN the "open with" shows a list of players including the old preferred default app (white overlay player). But no matter what I choose and go "open with, ALWAYS", my choice is being ignored onward and it opens this player again: unwanted default music player I have tried doing a reset of app settings on the phone, no change. I wish to have my old good default music player back ;) Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

I often take pictures with a mobile phone A and send them via Bluetooth to mobile phone B. On mobile phone B, I move the pictures to the album gallery, such that these pictures are uploaded to my dropbox automatically with dropbox camera upload. Sometimes, when I do this, the file names of the pictures in my dropbox are incorrect. For example, if I take a picture on 08.05.2022, 11.01.08, then the file name on both devices is IMG_20220508_110108. I sent the file via Bluetooth on 09.05.2022, 10.49.33 and the filename of the picture in my dropbox is 2022-05-09 10.49.33, i.e., the date when the file was sent via Bluetooth. Also, on mobile B in the photo app, the respective picture does appear at 08.05., but at the end, i.e., not sorted correctly. How does this happen and how can I avoid this?

I currently have my phone's digital photos uploading to my Dropbox "Camera Uploads" folder, but I recently discovered that some of the folders in my Gallery > Albums are not uploading. For example, I downloaded photos from the Disneyland app to my Android. Those photos were saved in my Gallery/Albums in a folder called "Disney". Those photos have not uploaded to Dropbox. Meanwhile, other folders in Gallery/Albums (such as my Screenshots folder) have uploaded to Dropbox. Why would some folders not upload? Is there anything I can do too ensure that every single Album/photo is uploaded to Dropbox automatically?

I want to have my todo.txt file synchronized on PC and Android via a cloud service **in both ways** and **instantly on change.** Let's call this **true instant sync.** Unfortunately, I have not found a good solution yet and I don't understand why. **My setting:** Markor to edit todo.txt on Android, todo-txt script to edit todo.txt on my Linux PC, official Dropbox client on both Android and PC. In order to get true instant sync, I tried **FolderSync** and **Autosync for Dropbox.** However, I think that neither of these apps does what I want flawlessly and their precise function is not really documented. For example, Autosync for Dropbox has the options "autosync", "instant upload", "clever detection of changes" (available in the pro version) and one can also set synchronization in given time intervals, all independently of each other. What do these options do precisely? FolderSync seems to support synchronization in time intervals only, which is not what I want. I imagine that a true instant sync solution should work as follows: 1. There is an interrupt whenever something is written in the shared folder . 2. The interrupt is associated to the sync client, which sends the information about changed files to the sync server immediately. 3. The sync client pings the sync server whenever its network address changes. 4. When another sync client uploads something to the sync server, the sync server broadcasts the information about changed files to all sync clients. 5. There is an interrupt whenever a packet from the sync server is received. 6. The interrupt is associated to the sync client which updates the local files immediately. **Questions:** 1. How do 1--6 differ from the reality and what are the problems? Aren't the interrupts 1 and 5 already implemented on the system level? 2. Can I configure Autosync for Dropbox or FolderSync (+ Tasker) so that I get true instant sync which was defined above? 3. Do you know any other solution for true instant sync? Thanks!

I sync my notes from both devices into my Dropbox account such that the notes are same in both my PC and phone. I edit and add new notes from my PC only and use my phone to only read the notes. So how can I set my Joplin app in Android phone to read-only mode to prevent any accidental deletion or update?

There are many apps that allow us to take notes on android. But just like this thread (https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/109956/is-it-possible-to-create-a-plain-text-file-in-android) , I want to create and edit plain txt file on android. But moreover, I also want to automatically sync with a txt file in my PC. Ideally, dropbox. So ideally, I edit txt file on my PC then the edit will sync to my Android phone, and vice versa. But if this ideal solution (dropbox solution) is not available, then I am fine with less ideal solution which will sync txt with PC.

I normally use my SD card to store photos. Due to some changes, photos I was taking were stored in phone storage for some time. I am back to storing them on the SD card. I am therefore left with ~500 MB of photos on phone storage instead of the SD card. When taking a photo, it is automatically uploaded to Google Photos and Dropbox. In both cases (when the photos were going to the phone storage as well as now, when they land on the SD) they were correctly uploaded to both of these services. I would like to understand how I can move the images in the internal storage to the SD without impacting the online storage (that is: without modifying it). In particular I would like to avoir re-uploading them, duplicates and changes in the timestamp. **Are the online services resilient on changes happening on the phone?** In particular: - is the uploading process making sure that the photo which has changed (in my case: location on the phone) - would a full re-upload of the photos modify the online content (it could be that the photos are uploaded but Google Photos and Dropbox realize that the file already exists and just discard it). I do not care about the upload bandwidth, what I am worried about is the possibility of duplicates or (if the images are overwritten), of a change in the timestamp. Is the impact of such changes on the phone documented somewhere?

Dropbox app not installed, but there is log activity in /data/system/dropbox
I don't have Dropbox app installed nor DropBox account, but whilst checking log files I've found that there is a `/data/system/dropbox` directory with log files from, I think, the last time I rebooted my phone. Why might this present? Is it possibly symptomatic of some kind of malware?

I am helping an older person who is not tech savvy enough to play with Android and USB cables and I'm tired of doing it for them. They need open pictures taken with android smartphone (built in camera, saved to its local DCIM folder) onto their computer, edit them (Windows) rotate, crop and so on, then transfer back to smartphone and then send via MMS. (yes, it's odd to use MMS i know, but as i said -we are talking about non tech savvy persons and they know how to operate mms so there is not possibility to switch them to using email). Right now, i have use send anywhere to transfer picture to computer, wait for them to edit, and transfer back via send anywhere... or use usb cable. I got idea to use dropbox, and dropbox let me send saved pictures directly to pc (via dropbox camera photo upload) so this part is done, but it won't work other way (after editing file on dropbox photo folder - it's not syncing back to phone) It's synced on dropbox folder via browser, but android app won't sync it back - i haven't seen that function < so it's useless. Do You have any other idea of how can i sync pictures both way and make them after edit appear on built in android gallery so they just can select edited picture and send via mms?
