In the newest versions of Android, you can click and hold a suggested predictive/autocorrected word, and drag it into a bin (title "remove") to prevent it from being suggested again. I accidentally deleted the word "I", so now when I type "i" it doesn't automatically autocorrect to "I". Two related questions: 1. I tried shaking my phone to undo the accidental word removal (like I would undo things on an iPhone), but it didn't do anything. Is there a way I could've undone my action immediately after it happened? 2. Now that it's a few days after the face, how to do I add "I" back to the suggested words without having to completely erase all the things my keyboard has learned about my typing habits?

Is it possible to autocorrect the last word when sending an SMS?
iOS has the capability that, when pressing the send button in the Message app, that the last word gets autocorrected, without having to hit the spacebar after the last word. Is there a way to do this for Android, via a messaging app or particular keyboard, or some other means?

I’m struggling to find a keyboard app for Android that offers smart punctuation features similar to those available on iOS. Specifically, I’m looking for a keyboard that can automatically use curly quotes (‘’ “”) and other smart punctuation marks. I’ve tried several keyboard apps including Gboard, SwiftKey, and Fleksy, but I haven’t been able to find the exact feature I’m looking for. Does anyone know of an Android keyboard that supports smart punctuation in the way iOS does? Alternatively, is there a way to enable this feature in any of the major keyboard apps through settings or additional tools? Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Why are my auto-complete suggestions so bad?
When I'm typing into a text entry field, the auto-complete suggestions I get are much worse than they used to be (they have never worked well on this phone, but have worked great on previous Android phones). For example, if I enter "Th", my suggestions are "Rh" and "Therock", rather than "The". The only suggestions that seem valid are names out of my address book. Any ideas? I've turned on all the auto-complete settings, but the suggestions are still terrible. I'm using a Nexus One running 2.3.4.

With aid from Android Enthusiasts and Reddit , I was able to bring my Microsoft Word Autocorrect shortcuts from my Windows 10 desktop into my Gboard personal dictionary on Android. I see, now, that when I enter one of those shortcuts using Gboard's onscreen (virtual) keyboard in Android, that shortcut's full expansion is offered at the center of the top bar in the Gboard keyboard. For example, if I type my initials into the onscreen keyboard, my full name appears in that top bar. Then I can just tap that suggestion to enter it into my document. Unfortunately, this doesn't work when I enter the shortcut using a Bluetooth (physical) keyboard. The shortcut appears onscreen, but Gboard's top bar does not change accordingly. The explanation is presumably that Gboard is designed to recognize only its own (virtual) keyboard. My question: can Gboard or some other app be persuaded to expand shortcuts entered via physical keyboard? In Word on the PC desktop, the expansion occurs as soon as the user enters a spacebar, punctuation, or Enter keys following the shortcut.

When I use the keyboard (both the Android and Huawei IME), the photo does not recognise any common words in English, and so it underlines them all as errors. It recognises the names from my contacts, but not the main dictionary. I could, over time, add the whole English language to my personalized words list, but I would rather not! Any suggestions for the problem?

I want to have both english **and** german prediction and auto correction at the same time for the stock keyboard (Jelly Bean here). My use case: Multi-tasking between english and german domains on my tablet where I both need the keyboard (e.g. Google Talk with my german friends and editing/answering questions on Android Enthusiasts in english). Problem: I don't want to switch off prediction/auto-correction nor do I want to switch to an alternative keyboard. At the moment I have to manually switch between en/de keyboards when I switch tasks (from *Google Talk* to the *browser* and back). This is annoying. I don't mind the keyboard layout (QUERTZ or QUERTY) but would prefer the english one. How can I have simultaneous multi language prediction/auto-correction in the stock keyboard?

Using Android 6. Auto correct usually works very well, so I don't want to turn it off. However on some occasions it stubbornly 'corrects' some words which I don't want, which is *extremely* inconvenient. These words are not in my personal dictionary. I've tried the following: - add the word I want to my personal dictionary - add the word I want to the 'all languages' dictionary - add the wrong word (to which it tends to autocorrect) to the custom dictionary and then remove that - repeatedly type in the word and when it autocorrects, click it and set it back to what it was, hoping that Android will learn my preference (I really tried this many many interations) It's driving me nuts. How do I force Android NOT to autocorrect certain words? Or rather, how do delete some words from its own dictionary? P.S. I know several similar questions like these were posted before, but they were all either outdated (apparently referring to much older Android versions) or the posted answers didn't work (I've tried them all). Quite some references to Android in 2011 are no longer relevant. P.P.S. I'm using a Nexus 5, default built-in keyboard.

The device I'm using is a Vivo phone, the model number's 1811. Do anyone know how to remove words from the auto-correct? This is all the information I got. Update, It turns out I don't have GBoard so I downloaded it. I've been using my default keyboard the whole time. Sorry about my mistake.

This on a Samsung J5.

Okay, so I've seen this question asked before, but literally none of the solutions has ever worked for me, and I've now gone through three phones and six iterations of Android, multiply versions of the Google keyboard, and multiple keyboards and the issue just will not fix. I've seen this common question asked before: > At some point, I mistyped the word "don't" as "Dont" and saved it as an autocorrect. Now everytime I type "don't" it autocorrects to "Dont", with a capital and no apostrophe. The difference between that question and mine is that I've been trying to fix this for YEARS now. It started on the first version of the Motorola Droid back in 2010 or 2011. Using the stock keyboard, I mispelled "don't" and that mistake would haunt me forever. In 2012 I switched to the Galaxy Nexus. With the stock keyboard, the mistake stuck. I searched for a solution, and only found things like "uninstall keyboard" or "uninstall updates" or "clear cache and data" or "try a new keyboard." The only thing that worked was using a new keyboard, so I used Swype and SwiftKey for most of the Nexus's life. Upon release, I was eligible for an upgrade and rushed to the HTC One M8. The phone was superb... I loved everything about it. Except it's big-keyed keyboard... so I switched to the default Google Keyboard. And guess what was back? My awful "Dont" type. I considered moving to SwiftKey or Swype or any of the other available market keyboards, but the truth is I really *like* the stock keyboard. I tried reclearing caches, data, clearing out the Search history (like another thread suggested), long-pressing on the word, turning off voice input and long pressing, checked my personal dictionary. The issue persisted. I even side-loaded the beta Android L Google Keyboard, and it immediately reappeared. I totally uninstalled Google Keyboard, Google Voice Input, Google Text to Speech, and used CCleaner and The Cleaner to clear all of my caches and data, and when I reinstalled Google Keyboard, it persisted. I tried the same thing again and re-sideloaded the Android L Google Keyboard... same issue. Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jellybean, and now KitKat and the issue has still persisted. Three different phones, three different manufacturers, three different UIs. The issue still persists. Please, someone, help. :( (Why, you may wonder, is it such a big deal? First, it's not fun to answer professional emails from my phone and constantly spell "don't" as "Dont." I'm a teacher, and this looks extremely stupid to parents who expect their kids are learning from the best.)

My GBoard is having so many issues with how it autocorrects next work suggestions. Generally if I hit space bar it automatically inserts the suggested word from the suggested word row above the keyboard. But then for seemingly no reason it does not do it for some words. For instance: brain. If I type "brakn" ... And hit space... Hit inserts "brain", which is what I want! But if I type "braim"... And hit space... It does NOT insert "brain" even though it is the suggested word... It just keeps braim and underlines it to show it is spelled incorrectly. It's driving me insane. I have cleared my cache and installed / uninstalled. Why doesn't space bar ALWAYS insert the recommended word, it only happens some of the time.

I have both swedish and english activated in GBoard, but I'm using the swedish layout so I get easy access to the letter å ä ö. My problem is that Gboard doesn't seem to "learn" some new words. A specific example is when I'm swiping hon (swedish for her), it **never** suggests hon, instead it autocorrects it to jobb (swedish for work) every single time. I've erased the suggestion, I've typed h o n manually and clicked it in the top bar - I even added hon to my personal dictionary in the Gboard settings, but nothing seems to help. It's gotten so ridiculous that I just stopped erasing and correcting it when texting some of my friends, I just informed them that if they see an oddly placed jobb, just assume I mean hon :) On a side note - both me and one of my friends (who's using Sony's built in keyboard) seem to experience periods of our predictions going haywire and suggesting completely wrong words, or in my case often weird acronyms like DF, DT, DGV etc. This seems to last for a few days and then it gets better for few weeks. Might just be coincidental, but I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing something similar?
