2-Step enabled, and I keeped backup codes.
This is what I did:
- Before I flashed my phone, I logout my google account.
- Then after I flashed my phone, I logged in google accout from my phone by using backup codes.
- In [Google - Your devices page](https://myaccount.google.com/device-activity) I signed out old devices.
But when I checked the [Google prompts page](https://myaccount.google.com/two-step-verification/prompt) , it still showed my old phone(the name is the old one).
And when I tried to log in somewhere, the "Google prompt" didn't pop up. I have to use backup codes or Authenticator.
**Is there a way that I can fix this? or just disable "Google prompt"?** I'm OK with using Authenticator and backup codes when phone is not available.

I can log in to Gmail as well as the desktop version of the Play Store, the problem is only with the app version. (When I enter the same password for the Desktop version of play store it even sends the PIN which is required for 2 step verification).
In the app version, it says the Email or password you entered is incorrect.

I have a OnePLus 7 (not Pro) and use the Outlook app for certain reasons (work).
Because I don't want multiple mail programs if I can avoid it, I always had my Gmail account in there which always worked fine. But now, not sure if this is an update, my Gmail account has become unresponsive. If I delete the account and then:
1. add it via "Add mail account" -> add Google account, it asks for some permissions the Google way and does not complain, but it does no show any emails, not even the unread ones. I'm "done for the day".
2. add it via IMAP (selecting *not* Google) after setting "IMAP enabled" in my Gmail account on the browser, using these directions , it says:
Log-in error
Please check your email and password and try again.
For route 2 I'm sure the problem is not the e-mail or password, because those work in the browser. And route 1 does not seem to work as it does not load messages.
Does anyone know how to access Gmail as IMAP on and Android device? Does it require the 2-step verification somewhere?

I broke my cellphone which had the Google Authenticator app and several other accounts attached to it for two factor authentication like Dropbox, Evernote, AWS, etc. Now I got a new phone and installed the Google Authenticator app on it as per the instructions given here - https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185834?hl=en#phone
But now in this app I don't see codes for other accounts (Dropbox, Evernote, etc.). Is there a way to get all of them migrated to this new app or I need to recreate them?
Also, if I need to recreate them, how do I do it, because Evernote won't even let me sign in from any device w/o two factor authentication code.
I can use backup codes for some accounts, but I don't have backup codes for all of them?
Please provide some suggestions. Thank you.

I'm trying to setup my Gmail account in K-9 Mail, but when I'm setting up the incoming server, I keep getting the error: "Wrong username or password". When I'm trying to set up an outgoing server, I get an error which directs me to the two-step verification at Google.
I have 2-step verification configured on my Google account, but can't seem to get this into K-9 Mail. I've searched all over and tried following different guides, e.g. [this question](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/29193/firm-gmail-i-e-google-apps-email-with-k9-email-program/29197#29197) , and I've also tried to change the password on my Google account but nothing helped.
How can I properly configure K-9 Mail for my Gmail account with 2-step verification?

The 2-step verification used to work. But today, when I sign in the account, my android device does not popup the verificaiton window at all. I only hear the notification sound, but no popup and no notification at all. This is just weird.
All special actions I did after its last working time are (1) create a second user account on android mobile (2) this is dual-sim cards mobile. I removed my primary sim card.
I am not sure if the above two actions are the cause or not. But I do hear a notification sound, but with no popup window at all.
So What is the problem? and How can I do the 2-step verification now?
Thanks a lot.

Will both accounts authenticate using the same codes?

Within seconds I received the 2-step verification SMS text message, but the app does not seem to be responding to it. A simple bar animation shows that it's still waiting.
I tried following the "Having trouble?" link but the only option there is to resend the message. I've tried that a few times and received the verification code again, but it still would not continue.
The 2-step verification process worked fine on my previous phone (S3), but I used to enter the code manually.
The phone is running Android 5.0. This problem occurs whether I'm on WiFi or Network.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

I have a lot of entries in the google authenticator app. Those entries were originally entered by scanning QR-codes. If I lose my phone, those entries are lost, and my experience tells me that some services can not be reset at all without access to 2 step authentication (one service specifically requested a convoluted process with high associated fees in order to verify my identity. I ended up creating a new account - luckily no important data was in the old account)
According to this site (I have not found a better place describing the data needed to generate a QR-code for Google Authenticator), what I need is:
- a label (I assume free text)
- user (does this need to be the real user linked to my account?)
- a key: this is the important part
- a url (is this important, or only for documentation purposes?)
My questions are:
1. how do I dump all that data from my current Google Authenticator installation?
2. What happens if I enter that data into a new Google Authenticator instance? Will the old stop working? How is this mechanism implemented?
EDIT
----
I do not want simply to backup the Google Authenticator database so that another instance of Google Authenticator can read it. I do not want the data in any proprietary or binary format.
I want the data in human readable form, ideally as a
.txt
file, so that I can readily use it for other purposes, be it back it up as I please, enter it in another application (Google Authenticator or any other application), use it manually to generate QR-codes with the service provided above, ...

So basically, I wanted to make an inapp purchase, but my secondary useless account would always be the default account and it was unchangeable. After days of struggling I decided to simply completely delete the account, since I didnt use it anyway. Now however, I found out my phone is linked to this google account. Then I stumbled upon a thousand loopholes.
My phone asks me to verify my account in the notification bar. It can't be removed, so I decided to click on it. It brings me to a window where I have to login to my account to continue. I can't change whatever email is in the textbox, because there is simply nothing to type. I can't edit it. All it says is "can't find google account" and leaves me hanging. The problem is that that account doesn't even exist anymore. At all. So its constantly asking me to log in, and its bugging me.
So I decided to ignore the message. I went to settings/accounts and obviously all synchronisation failed, since the account was deleted. However, I can't remove the account from my phone *BECAUSE I HAVE TO LOGIN.* But there is no way to login because the account doesn't bloody exist.
So now Im stuck with an account linked to my phone that I dont even bloody use. I can't make inapp purchase because I constantly am forced to login to that same account that doesnt exist.
The app I'm trying to purchase is also simply showing errors and not allowing me to do anything. I can do all the standard stuff, but the verification notification is still there.
I can't install the app anymore on the playstore either. The playstore asks for verification whenever I try to install the app, and yeah, then it softlocks, because all I can click is "try again", which does nothing since it simply shows the same screen again.
I've been trying for so bloody long now. I'm completely done. There's so many goddamn issues the very simple problem being changing the standard account on my phone, which is practically impossible, since for anything I want to do I have to login to the deleted account.
Any help?
(I tried restarting my phone, btw)

Can I wipe my phone even if I use it for 2-step verification?

I enabled google 2-step authentication on the android one, and for some reason I could not use the code I had received. I received another one afterwards which I used successfully.
Now every hour or so I receive an sms with the first code, and it has been so for the last 30 hours...
Any idea of what is going on? Thanks

I recently enabled two-step auth for my Google account, and I'm happy to say it works fine. However:
- Application specific passwords, like for Android are temporary, and the guide makes it obvious that you aren't supposed to write them down or save them anywhere.
- When someone fails to unlock a password protected Android phone too many times, it allows the user to connect to a WiFi network and login with his/her Google account.
- How does this apply to an account with two-step auth? Has anyone had this sort of an issue before? Is generating a new app-specific password enough?

I setup google 2-step authentication through Google Apps.
I linked my Skype number by Voice instead of SMS. SMS wasn't going through. It's a US number.
I'm trying to login on my Android phone in Thailand. I bought the phone in Thailand with a Thai sim. I set the Android language to English.
2-step is calling me and giving the number in Thai. I don't speak Thai.
There's no obvious setting to change the language of "Google sign-in" app on the phone.
I looked in the Domain Admin app and didn't see a setting to change the language. It's pretty frustrating.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
