I am using a Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 (SM-A310F) smartphone with Android 5.1.1. I am trying to combine several icons on the home screens into folders, like I did on various other Android devices before. Samsung's manual for SM-A310F indicates that creating folders works like on the other Android devices I used; by tapping and holding an icon for a few seconds, then by dragging it onto another icon (to create a new folder) or onto an existing folder (to add the icon to that folder). However, this does not work on the phone I am using: Holding an icon does not do anything while in the normal mode: The home screen can only be edited after tapping *Bearbeiten* (*Edit*) in the top right corner of each of the home screen pages to switch to an edit mode: In there, icons cannot be dragged, only deleted (each icon is adorned with a little "minus" overlay icon in this mode). If this is not the standard behaviour of Android 5.1.1, I am seeing no indication of that in the system info. So, my question is: **How can I create folders on the home screens in Android 5.1.1?** I found [one vaguely similar question](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/120947/how-to-create-nested-folders-on-home-screen-in-lollipop) , but I am not looking for installing any special launcher apps or exceed the built-in maximum number of apps per folder, I just want to access the folder feature that has always been around on previous Android versions on devices by different manufacturers. One additional option is described on [Solvemix](http://www.solvemix.com/index.php/android-smartphones/357-android-lollipop-create-folder-for-apps-how-it-works) , where it is explained that users should tap "at the top right on the three-point symbol" in the app menu. However, no such three-point symbol is present in the app menu on the device I am trying to configure.

I have many websites which I constantly access thru my phone, but they aren't bookmarked on Google, they're just added to my homescreen as a web shortcut. Of course Windows is something else entirely, but I could just go to Desktop folder and copy everything *.lnk, right? Thing is, now I'm migrating phones. I already migrated all apps I wanted to keep. I feel there should be an equivalent easy way to do this, even without an app. Is there?

I am running Android 12 on a Realme 8 5G phone. I would like to test a set of note-taking apps. In order to do this, I need to search and download them from Google Play. However, they will be hard to find because they will be arranged alphabetically by app name and I have a lot of apps on my desktop. So, I would like to be able to create a folder, set the folder and the download location, and then go and download the apps from the Google Play app (so that these go to the set folder). Is it possible to do this? Do I need a special launcher app on Android to do this?

I transferred my Android phone backup from a Pixel 5 to a Pixel 6a today, but during the process accidentally selected a secondary Google account, which meant only apps associated with that account were added to the 6a. Later, I added my primary Google account to the 6a, which also prompted Android to install apps associated with that account to the 6a. The only problem is that my nice neat home screen app groupings are missing. Most apps are not on the home screen(s) at all. Do I have have to manually recreate these groupings, or is there a better way to do this? Thanks

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S6 and recently updated to Android 6. Now in every folder on my home screen, I have this "plus" icon which is meant to select apps to add to the folder instead of having to drag them in one by one. How can I remove this? I haven't changed the UI from default.

I'd like to have several collections of apps but also widgets. Problem is widgets can't be in folders. But, could I just link to another page of the home screen? Thus each page would be my unit of organization. But I could access all of them from page 0 without scrolling N times. Is it possible in some way?

I’m on a Samsung S20 5G, Android 12 (just moved to this phone). On my old phone which ran android 8.1 (I don’t remember the exact model, but it was a phone from Huawei), In the Display settings I could disable the app drawer and make all the apps show on the main Home Screen. I’ve been looking around in settings and I just can’t seem to find an option that lets me disable the app drawer. Do I have to drag all the folders and apps in the drawer to the Home Screen for it to go? Or is there a simpler option in settings?

I just installed the 8.0 update, and don't like how they changed the layout of my folders. Before installing this update, the size of my folders would be 3x3 rows, and now they changed it to 4x4 rows. Is there a setting or anything I can do to change it back to the layout that I had before?

I'm using Samsung Galaxy S6 on Android 7.0. I cannot find a way to locate in which folder/app_group I misplaced an app icon. On iOS, you can achieve this very easily: If you searched for an app, you will see an app icon—which you can tap to launch the program—as well as a **header that tells you in which folder the app is stored**. If I use the search in the app drawer (GO Launcher Z or the default TouchWiz home screen app), I can easily find the app icon, but it will not let me know in which folder/app_group the icon is. **This is a search example (for the Netflix icon/app):**  You can see that the icon is located in the media folder. In this case, it is easy to find, but when a folder holds more than 4 icons locating an icon is tedious.  How to find in which folder/app group is an app icon?

I am contemplating getting a Nova Prime launcher, as opposed to my current combination of Nova free and Folder Organizer. The main feature of Folder Organizer that I see as a must-have and not sure if possible on Nova is an easy way to find ALL of your installed un-labeled apps (via "Other Applications automatic label") so you can work on relabeling/foldering them (assuming your goal is to have a proper folder for every app you have). **Is there such a feature (easily find all not-in-folders installed apps) in Nova Prime?** If not, a second subquestion is, is there a good replacement launcher among those well known (Apex, GO, etc...) that has such a feature?

So, say I have a folder on my home screen. In it I have a bunch of shortcuts. If I click one of those shortcuts it runs the program. Now when I come back to the home screen the folder is still sitting there open. Most of the time I want to go to something else on the home screen when coming back to it, not something in that folder. To that end is it possible to make it so that upon clicking a shortcut in a folder, after launching the app (or before, doesn't really matter) it would also close the folder, so that when I come back to the home screen I am actually AT the home screen without needing to manually close the folder? Running rooted, but otherwise stock Galaxy S Captivate.

I have a Galaxy S4 running Android 4.2.2. When I drag an application onto another one a folder is created. I was wondering if there's any way to password protect that folder? Most of the related apps I've found so far don't do that.

My phone is Panasonic P66 Mega with android lollipop version. When I install a new app from play store or connect to an app with an email, multiple app icons are being created on the screen, which disappears when the phone is restarted. Since the phone only consists of a home screen (No app drawer) it's annoying to see many icons. Please let me know how to get rid of this issue.

I have a number of widgets that I really like, but my Droid takes an awful long time to draw the home screen, even using the Zeam launcher replacement. Can I use folders on my home screen to hold widgets (and keep them handy) and will that improve my performance any?

I want to create a folder on my samsung A3 When i search the web i find 2 things 1. Press the edit button on the right top of the screen and then drag amd drop an app on top of an other to create a folder. Not working . When pressing the edit button the only thing i can do is remove the apps or add new apps .all the apps have a minus sign on them . 2. Press and hold on an app and then choose "create folder" choice that appears after holding the app. Not working . When press and hold on the app nothing happens. Any suggestions ?

Example: * Assume that a folder F1 has ABC app icons (shortcuts) in it. * Another folder F2 has XYZ app icons in it. * The default launcher in COS12 doesn't allow inclusion of more than 16 icons in a single folder. * Neither it provides the option to include one folder (F2) into another one (F1) so that the included folder (F2) would show up as a normal icon in F1 amongst other ABC icons, but when touched, would show its XYZ icons, hence achieving the proper nesting. **How do I achieve this folder nesting in Lollipop?** I've found that [Folder Organizer](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abcOrganizer.lite) can do the job but it hasn't been ported to Lollipop's Material design. Result, your host folder looks in sync with rest of the UI (white background, smooth font) but the nested folder gives you a somewhat black background with not so smooth or crisp font. It also doesn't respect the current theme in place. Pretty much a *weird* combination in hand. I believe [Tasker](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm) 's scenes can do this but I would like to have consistency between folders when it comes to their appearance. --- I've a OnePlus One running rooted Cyanogen OS 12 with Xposed Framework installed.

I recently installed cyanogemod 12 unofficial version on my xiaomi redmi 1s.But whenever I try to lock a folder on my home screen it says "Unfortunately trebuchet has stopped working".I want to know if it can be fixed.

I have HTC Desire 820 running on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. I have folders with favorite apps on the home screen. But whenever a new app is installed, all those folders disappeared, and the home screen was being set to default. I cannot rectify this issue and even cannot find out why this is happening. What is the possible cause and how to fix it?

On the "desktop" of my phone, I can move my apps into folders together by dragging one on top of the other. However, as opposed to the iPhone (where they form a reduced-sized grid), the apps gets combined into a folder where I can no longer identify each of them. Is there some way to change this sub-menu/folder style to replicate the iPhone's functionality?

This is a bit hard to explain.. I like having my apps categorized at the home screen (games, Google apps etc.) but I don't like how folders do it. Placing apps in folders makes them too small to see which makes me just go to the app drawer and search for them individually. Instead I need something to pop out and let me see all of the apps in the folder without having to click it. I have tried just placing similar apps together but that doesn't give you such a folder-like effect. Is there a way to have large folders on your home screen which shows every item or even a way to add small dividers to make some apps look like they are grouped? I am using lollipop with CyanogenMod 12 Thanks in advance!
