I use SwiftKey with external Bluetooth and OTG keyboards. SwiftKey is designed for this.
However, SwiftKey only gives me the English keyboard layout. When using the soft keyboard, my layout is Norwegian, and I alternate between typing in Norwegian and English. Norwegian layout is important to me as it contains special characters.
How can I get Norwegian (or any other latin-based) layout when using the hard keyboard with SwiftKey?
What is the easiest way to switch between different layouts quickly while using a physical keyboard with SwiftKey? (Something akin to the Samsung stock keyboard's alt+Shift Shortcut)
My details: Samsung I9305 running rooted stock 4.4.4 with Xposed Framework and SwitKey 6.1.0.71.

I have a HUAWEI tablet with the stock OS. The manufacturer only installed Microsoft SwiftKey. I connect a physical keyboard to the tablet, go to Settings, Language & input,
tap on “Physical keyboard”
tap “Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard - Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard” under “USB USB KEYBOARD”
select “Ukrainian”. Then I almost can type Ukrainian except that the key with “~ `” (tilde, backtick) produces “ё” instead of “'” (apostrophe). I experience this with two physical keyboards.
Is this because Microsoft SwiftKey manages my physical keyboard? How can I get a correct Ukrainian keyboard layout?

I am on an Android mobile device, I use the [Microsoft SwiftKey virtual keyboard](https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/swiftkey) in version 9.10.37.20
Where can I find the TAB key, or what is the short cut to fire an TAB event?
I asked Bing Copilot:
> Certainly! To insert a tab (tabulator) using the SwiftKey keyboard on Android, follow these steps:
> Double Space Key: SwiftKey provides a convenient way to insert a tab. Simply double-tap the space key, and it will insert a tab character.
Remember that the availability of this feature may vary depending on the keyboard app and its settings. Give the double space key a try, and you should be able to insert tabs easily!
But this do not work.
I checked my settings. Double tapping on the space bar -> is doing a dot.
I switched the setting off, but the behavior is still the same.
I also checked my settings -> a long press on space will show the cursor to navigate in text.
Why I need the TAB key?
* Bing search is offering the auto-suggestions via tab
* In terminals (yes it is possible on mobile)
* Edit text in Microsoft Word

Until yesterday my SwiftKey keyboard showed arrow keys in the middle of the keyboard. I had switched on the thumb layout and the arrow keys for a compact yet functional layout.
Since yesterday (October 26, 2020) the arrow keys can only appear at the bottom, increasing the keyboard height with one full row.
The thumb layout still exists, but now just leaves an empty gap in the middle where the arrow keys were before.
How can I get the arrow keys back in the centre of the keyboard?

I have Swiftkey installed.
I get a notification all the time about choosing my keyboard. I can get it to go away for a short time by selecting
Settings -> Language & Keyboard -> Current keyboard
Then selecting Swiftkey. But the notification comes back 30-60 mins later (I haven't timed it).
How do I get this to stop showing up? [There are instructions on the Swiftkey site](https://support.swiftkey.com/hc/en-us/articles/201644832-I-keep-getting-a-notification-saying-Choose-input-method-) that are either outdated or don't apply to my phone: the settings don't look like that.
[The relevant AE answer](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/19566/how-do-i-disable-the-select-input-method-notification) is 5 years old.

I cannot figure out the whole pattern but much of the time these days if I use Google Speech to recognise some text to put into a text field eg Facebook's or Messenger's, it successfully recognises the text (it shows me) but then when the popup displaying the text goes away, it leaves the text field unchanged, instead of entering the recognised text. It seems to happen mostly if I do some speech recognition, then edit or move the cursor, then some more speech recognition.
Is there any way to force the recognised text into that field or get it into "paste" so I can paste it in?
(Using a Huawei P20 Pro running Android 10 and Microsoft Swiftkey to "activate" Google Speech).

I am using Swiftkey 7.4.0.18 on Android 9 (before that, on Android 7). I got a new phone and installed Swiftkey on it, logged in and enabled backup & sync. My personal dictionary had been correctly backed up before, I can see that in the "View and manage your data" section. The dictionary contains several hundred or thousand words (I speak a special German dialect, that's why). However, these learned words do not show up on my new phone, even though sync appears to "work" as there is no error message. I have contacted Swiftkey support a while ago but haven't heard anything.
Anybody here who can tell me how I can debug / solve this?

**To all SwiftKey users who stumble accross this post: Do not update your SwirftKey app at the moment!**
Hello everyone
Today I updated several apps on my Android 9 Huawei Mate 20 Pro (non-rooted), among them also the **SwiftKey application. After this update my keyboard was gone, completely.** Unfortunately I had the great idea that this could be solved by restarting my phone. But after the restart, when asked for the password (the entering of the pin worked fine; there was a numpad) there was and is no keyboard to enter anyting. i.e. the password.
*This issue renders my whole device useless*. In addition I have no clue on how to solve this and even if I did, I wouldn't be able to access my phone in any way (I think? Because even a connection to a computer would be denied without allowing USB debugging... Am I right?) - e.g. update SwiftKey again. SwiftKey is the stock keyboard of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro...
I wrote something very similar on the SwiftKey "Support" Page (here ) - which is a community-help-itself-site, i think. (It's incredible that there is absolutly no possibility to contact SwiftKey directly, or am I mistaken?) But I thought the kind people here might be (way) more competent, especially if will I have to access my phone through a USB connection without the possibility to enter my password...
Any help is greatly appreciated. :) Many thanks.

Use OTG adapter with an external keyboard. For details see accepted answer and this Reddit thread .

I want to delete data, but I am afraid that I will delete words predictions too.
Is there any solutions for me? Maybe there is option to decide what will be deleted. Cache memory is only 300 kb. I tried to move app to SD card but that option moves only application not data, and I started getting message that SwiftKey stopped working. After moving it back, works correctly again.
Hope someone can help me,
tnx

I don't have a Google account and use APKPure (and F-Droid) to get most apps I need. Now, there are a few apps which, after download, refuse to install - they give me the "App not installed" error when I try to install them from within the APKPure interface. Right now I'm seeing this with the SwiftKey Keyboard application: I already use it, and I'm trying to install an upgrade of it but getting that error.
* How can I determine why I'm getting the "App not installed" message?
* Should I try installing in "Safe Mode"? I've heard about it but don't yet know how to get into it.
* If I want to try and install manually - where do I find the APK file(s) for my app?
Additional informations:
* I'm using a Xiaomi Redmi 3S with Android version 6.0.1.
* SwiftKey is already installed and is in use; but just to be sure, I replaced it with another keyboard as the chose/active keyboard app and the results are the same.
* The APK file _seems_ to be this one (assuming I get the same file from my desktop and from my APKPure app on my Android device).
*
$ apksigner verify SwiftKey\ Keyboard_v6.6.9.32_apkpure.com.apk

Fig. 6 State of application after disabling, force quitting and "uninstalling" it
It started to persist in OO 3.1.
I created the ticket #712004 about the issue in Oneplus technical ticket system.
Uninstallation attempts
----
Unsuccessful uninstallation witohut disabling and/or force stopping application first.
- I pressed uninstall the application.
However, doing so, it is not really uninstalled.
You see the situation in Fig. 3.
Reboot the phone, and you still get the same result.
You cannot uninstall it by dragging the icon to uninstall menu because no such icon exists.
Procedure for the partial uninstallation of the application i.e. deactivation, since there exists an evidence about its existence in Fig. 5 in the system
1. Press the Menu key and choose Settings → Apps → Manage applications OR tap 'Apps' (depending on device)
2. Scroll down to and tap SwiftKey
3. Force stop application
4. Disable application
5. Select 'Uninstall' in Play store now; OR uninstallation process will automatically start if you selected it before force stop and/or disable
6. Reboot
**Output**: the application is not active but we can see the application is still in the system register in Fig. 6 although we diasbled, force quitted and "uninstalled" it in Fig. 5.

I uninstalled an app using a long tap shortcut that comes on One plus two mainscreen, which I guess is also the time when there is an update waiting for this app because the next time I opened the Play Store, an update shows up for the app. When trying to update and then uninstall (this time from Play Store), it still keeps showing up in _Updates_ list and the whole things repeat.
The app is _Swiftkey Keyboard_, if that helps. Any recommendations on permanently removing the app would be helpful. Android v6.0.1, OS: OxygenOS v3.0.2
* I tried *Settings > Apps* and there is no uninstall option, instead there is a disable option next to force stop. In play store, there is update option which doesn't help as I stated earlier.
* I doubt if it is a system app, because I voluntarily installed it (from Google Play Store as I remember; I enabled installation from unknown sources only after the release of Pokemon go, I am not aware of any other possible ways of side-loading)
* The app doesn't show up in *Device Administrators* (there's only Android Device Manager and another paid app visible in device administrators)
* I disabled it, it stopped showing up in updates, keyboard menu and elsewhere, but it still is taking up that internal storage as shown in *Settings > Apps.*

I want to move the SwiftKey app from my standard user partition to the system partition (I have root). I am able to use Titanium Backup or Link2SD to turn an app into a system app, but anytime I try that with SwiftKey, it continuously force-closes. With most apps, if they start acting up right after changing them to system apps, you simply reboot and it works. However, rebooting doesn't solve the problem with SwiftKey.
I have also tried clearing cache and dalvik cache, but it seems like this particular app hates being a system app.
According to this forum thread , I need to move a library over to the system lib folder, but I don't see any library needing to be copied.
Reinstalling the app looks like it works, but it doesn't really. Because updates to system apps are not stored in the system partition, 'updating' the Swiftkey app makes the app work again because the main binary that is running is running from userland, not systemland. If I then use Titanium Backup or Link2SD to
Integrate
the update into the system partition, it starts crashing again.
Has anyone been able to successfully move the SwiftKey app into the system partition?
**Edit**: I have tried clearing the cache, clearing the data, uninstalling completely and reinstalling (then moving to system), and I even tried the same steps on another phone of the same model (Optimus V).
I have also tried manually copying the .apk file over instead of simply using Titanium Backup's or Link2SD's built-in mover. SwiftKey simply refuses to run properly if installed as a system app, but works just fine as a user app.

Since the last 2 months, my SwiftKey keyboard has been at times almost unusable: keystrokes are lost and taps are understood as swipes. This doesn't always happen, and together with the fact that its predictions work so much better than the stock keyboard (also because the stock keyboard's dictionary is much emptier, having been barely used) is the reason why I stuck with SwiftKey until now. Also, I've never been truly sure about the problem being limited to Swiftkey, since using the normal keyboard was frustrating as well.
Now I finally decided to look at the output of logcat, and after trying to type sentences for a while, and seeing plenty of

Aside from this, most of the system is still butter smooth (not always, but basically never find perceive missing touches as with SwiftKey), and I wouldn't put the blame on the hardware: I always have 1.5 GB of ram free, and the phone I'm using has pretty good hardware, definitely better than the average device (it's an OnePlus 1: Snapdragon 801 and 3GB of RAM)
Is there a way to easily debug this issue as an user, and maybe submit an actionable bug report to SwiftKey (as well as confirming that it's their fault)?
