I have installed BlissOS on a virtual machine.
If I run with DHCP is ok, it gets the IP immediately.
But I want to use static IP.
On the internet, some people suggest using "ethernet manager", but this application is not available anywhere, searching on Google return network manager only.
On another forum, someone said "use netcfg", but this command is also missing.
Does anyone know how to configure a static network? It is not wifi, only eth0.

For work, I have an Android tablet version 14 with kernel version 5.15.153-android13-3-29539737. I am trying to run a widget test on the device. I do have the device connected to the laptop with wireless debugging (ADB) and can successfully start the test. However, the functionality this particular test uses requires data received over the ethernet connection. When the ethernet is on and I turn on wifi, the ethernet drops until I turn off the wifi connection.
The ethernet connection is through the USB port with an adapter for an RJ45.
From what I read, it may be possible to set up a concurrent or simultaneous connection in a Samsung tablet unless that has been disabled. However, I cannot get them both running at the same time. How may this be done?

I live in an area without any high-speed internet access. Currently, I am using a cell phone hotspot connected through a wireless-to-wired bridge to my home wired/wireless networks. I would like to increase my bandwidth using multiple cell services/hotspots and have not found the complete answer.
I have a TP-Link ER605 and am able to hook a cellphone directly to the USB WAN port on that device and it works to provide Internet service. I am attempting to connect a second cellphone to an RJ45 WAN port on the ER605 using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, but have not found any combination that allows the 'USB Tethering' option to be enabled.
I have the following phones:
- TCL 30 XL (Android 12)
- Moto X4 (Android 9)
Both of these devices work to provide Internet service when directly connected to the ER605 with a standard USB cable.
I have tried two USB to Ethernet Adapters:
- uni USB C to Ethernet adapter (Amazon link )
- Smays USB C OTG Ethernet adapter (Amazon link )
Neither of these adapters enables the USB Tethering option, either plugged into an ER605 port or to a port on a Windows machine.
What are the cellphone/adapter requirements needed to support this configuration?

I am building AOSP (version 14) from sources, for a PinePhone (so I have root access). I am trying to get reverse tethering to work (i.e. the Android device connects to the network through the other device over Ethernet).
I can plug an Ethernet-over-usb adapter and see that a new network interface (
eth0
) appears in the output of ip link
. This interface eth0
is ` but has
state DOWN. It never gets in
state UP` and it never gets an IP.
In this situation on a Linux distro, I would just run a DHCP client for this interface. But on AOSP, I don't have a DHCP client to run from the command line (dhcpcd is no longer used in recent versions of Android, if I understand correctly).
1. Is there a way to manually run a DHCP server from the CLI?
2. What mechanism is supposed to handle this? On some phones and under some conditions (e.g. "the WiFi is not connected"), then plugging an Ethernet cable into the Android device "just works". What should I do in my AOSP build to make this "just work" for all eth*
interfaces that may appear?

I have an Android phone which I can share its internet connection via Ethernet tethering through an adapter (Ethernet to USB-C adapter). The device (camera) which is connected to the phone is able to utilise the internet connection successfully.
I want to access the device from my Android phone using its local IP address in the web browser of my Android phone since that device (camera) has a webapp running on it which allows accessing its features and configurations. However when I type in the local IP address (or the local host name) of the device in the browser it times out (the IP address is correct and I have double checked this multiple ways).
1. is this possible on Android?
2. how can I achieve this?
3. is this a DNS problem? (my Android "Private DNS Mode" is set to "Automatic" which is the default option.
I can achieve this using a laptop running windows without any issues but being able to use a mobile phone is a lot more convenient, as it means I won't have to carry a laptop with me.

How can I connect a non-rooted Android phone to an Ethernet LAN as a client and use it as a host?
I got a public static IP. It's in my optical fiber router and I can assign it to a LAN host of my choice.
Before answering, please read the following points:
1. I don't want to use the WiFi interface
2. I tried an USB-to-ethternet cable but that allows me to configure the phone as an Ethernet-to-LTE access point for the LAN attached hosts. It's a tethering service
**I want to use my phone as a power-frugal server with a public static IP address.**

I connected my Ubuntu laptop to debug connection. I used static IP on Ubuntu and configured static IP on Android for Ethernet connection.
In Android terminal I can ping my laptop
ping 172.XXX.XXX.XXX
After that I connect to Wi-Fi, I'm able to ping sites like Google but can not ping my laptop. But I can ping my Android device from my laptop. In my opinion it means that this is problem with routes in Android
I've checked routes on Android:
busybox route
And this is the output:
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
172.XXX.XXX.XXX * 255.255.254.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
192.XXX.XXX.XXX * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 wlan0
It seams that routes are configured properly.
If I want to ping my laptop I should explicit use interface for that:
ping -I eth0 172.XXX.XXX.XXX
I can use
su
ip route add 172.XXX.XXX.XXX dev eth0 table local
After that I can ping my laptop and use internet from Wi-Fi.
But it not works when I reboot the Android device. If rebooted I need to disable Wi-Fi, connect to Ethernet, after that connect to Wi-Fi and add route again.
Is it way to save routes to work after reboot, or may be another way to add route to work permanently?

currently I don’t have both devices at the same place to test this, but maybe someone uses a similar setup. So I’d like to use an android tv box with a NAS device connected directly to the ethernet port of the android device. So there is no router in between. I can set a fixed ip address on the NAS, I guess the same can be done on the device running android. And android should immediately detect the SMB share on the NAS when connected this way, right?
Currently I have the NAS connected to an old samsung tv this way and it works as a media server for the tv. But I lose internet on the tv, because wifi can’t be used at the same time when the NAS is connected. What would be really cool is if I could use android’s wifi connection while the NAS is connected to ethernet, and if android was able to somehow passthrough the NAS’ SMB share to the rest of the local network devices, so they could also read/write to the NAS.
Any thoughts if something like this could be done? Connecting the NAS to the router doesn’t work for me, because LAN cable doesn’t reach the place where the tv is and wifi is too slow for video.

I tried using the Type-C Hub (from UGREEN ) that has an RJ45 port and the tablet connected to the ethernet successfully. However, when I try to connect my laptop using a Type-C to Type-C cable and later Type-A (from hub) to Type-C (to laptop), nothing happens on the tablet and laptop.
Is there any way I can connect the tablet to ethernet for the internet and also to my laptop to get the logs?
Note: The wireless option is not possible as the connection is very unstable.

I have a strange problem. When connected to WiFi, I have no issues. When I connect a UTP cable to my device via a USB ethernet adaptor, I can browse the internet, but apps won't work.
I can, for example, browse https://www.youtube.com , but the YouTube app fails to connect to the network.
I tested on 2 medical smartphones (Spectralink and Ascom Myco 3) on 2 different networks. No firewalls or spam filters on the network.
Both have the same issue.
I have a medical app that can not connect to its server on port 443 when on the cable. When using a web browser to connect, it says it doesn't trust the certificate. Again, on WiFi, it's fine.
It seems to me that the cabled network has a different way of handling certificates. Can there be a difference?
Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

My relative has a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 from 2022. We use wired ethernet and the only ethernet to USB-C adapter that works for that phone (unlike my Samsung Galaxy) is the fact that the ethernet adapter has to be powered. Mine uses a passive ethernet to USB-C connection.
I was wondering if any of y'all know how do I know if the ethernet to USB-C adapters that have a light turned on near the RJ54 connection is also powered, or are the ones who only say that they have charging capabilities the ones that will work?
For example:
- Here's the one that works for him: [Belkin USB C To Ethernet + Charge Adapter](https://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Ethernet-Passthrough-Connected-INC001btBK/dp/B086SV2FK4)
- And here's the one that has the light: [WALNEW USB Type C to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Cable Converter](https://www.amazon.ca/Ethernet-Adapter-WALNEW-Converter-Thunderbolt/dp/B0B8RFB9KD)
- And this is the one similar to the one I use, which doesn't have anything flashy to it: [TP-Link USB C To Ethernet Adapter(UE300C)](https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Ethernet-Foldable-Supports-UE300C/dp/B08HQBC678)
We don't want to spend $30 on another one (the cable for his is starting to get destroyed with wear and tear), so I'm trying to find another solution for the RJ45 connection to his phone.
Thanks!

I have no GCNat in front of the Pixel 7. In fact i can forward non priviliged ports with the Fwd: port forwarder app and its working as expected
Ideally all ports would be forwarded to the router as i also want to use Wireguard. I would also be happy if the phone is only working as a dumb modem, bridging the two interfaces.
I already tried the answers here and here , but requests always timed out.

# Problem:
my Huawei P30 Pro is locked and I don't remember my passcode as I was using it with the fingerprint unlock for 2 years, which suddenly stopped working. I can prove that it is my phone, as I still have the packaging and the original purchase receipt and I can access the google find-my-phone, where it is shown and I could theoretically unlock it.
However, the wifi and cellular are unfortunately turned off, as I was conserving battery during a hike.
# Solutions tried:
I tried to connect it to my router via ethernet and USB-C to ethernet dock, which "worked": I see the symbol in the display, I see the IP address in the router and I can ping it in the local network. It's still offline, as no notifications are coming through and it's offline google's find-my-phone :( Why?
I tried the safe mode menu, but no change, just the safe mode watermark.
I tried to update the EMUI via the recovery mode, it actually connects to my wifi(!) and tries to update, which fails and afterward DISABLES the damn wifi again. During the recovery mode and afterward it still does not show as online on google's find-my-phone.
There are no pull-down menus to enable wifi or cellular on this phone.
Unfortunately, I also seem to not have enabled the Huawei-app-thingy to unlock it, but wouldn't help anyway as I can not connect to the internet.
It's a bit ridiculous why none of these methods worked...
# Question:
Why does the ethernet not work and of course:
Any hope or do I have to keep trying 3 passwords per hour for the next 9 months ? :(
Reward for useful hints and thanks a lot ;)
