My daughter has changed her lock screen password. Didn't write it down. And had forgotten it. And so her phone is locked.
What I observe is:
* After restart, she's been asked a code. I can't find anyway to reset that code.
* Her phone is connected to the web. I can see today's date on the Family Link page for her account.
* I cannot find a way to switch from user on her phone (i.e. logging with my own account)
* Stopping and Restarting the device is not possible. The phone remains on that lock screen. Only a hard-shutdown is possible (Volume up/Volume down/Power during a few seconds).
* The phone doesn't ring when I ask it to ring from the Family Link page.
I tried various ways to connect to the phone :
* The procedures with *Find My Device* don't work, because :
* When I connect to Google with my own account, I cannot switch to her account, and hence don't see her phone as candidate phone to work on.
* When I connect with her account, she has no rights to use that application.
* The Family Link page provides a 6-digits code that changes every hour supposedly providing access to the phone. It doesn't. The phone keeps saying invalid password.
* The Family Link page lets define a new lock screen password. Defining a new password doesn't help despite a hard restart of the phone.
What are my options now ? A hard reset of the phone is acceptable. But even that I don't succeed to do.
----
PS: The phone is a Samsung A03

I've been looking into this and reading articles for the last hour or so, and haven't come up with anything. The simple version of what I'm trying to do, is when my kids are grounded or at school that I'd like to turn their smartphones into a dumb phone. They need to be able to call my wife or myself in case of emergency, call specific contacts if we're not available, but not chat with all their friends. If someone can point me in the right direction for where these controls are located I'd very much appreciate it.
The 'Phone' app is not listed in FamilyLink under the apps I'm able to 'always allow' and there's no way I can see for me to limit calls to specific numbers. I'm totally open to third-party apps if there's a paid solution to this out there.

I have my daughter's Pixel 1 set up with **Family Link**. It should be running Android 10 I believe.
Recently I changed her screen lock password via my linked Parent Phone. I forgot to tell her and since she usually logs in using her fingerprint, she didn't notice the change until she had to restart her phone a month later, which enforces unlocking with her password.
Unfortunately, I forgot the new password in the meantime. If I see this correctly,
- I cannot unlock the phone using my Parent Account after the reboot, right?
- Also, since the phone has not fully booted without the initial unlock, I cannot change the password using the Family Link app because that has not started yet. I mean, I can change the password on my, it just doesn't change anything on hers.
I tried the suggestion here: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/214394/how-to-reset-a-kids-forgotten-phone-lock-screen-password , but my daughter's phone does not have Find My Device installed.
Any ideas? The last resort would be to factory reset but I would like to avoid data loss. I think I had the phone set up for Developer Options last time I was able to access it. So if there is a way to do it with ADB or something I might try that although I would like to avoid the installation trouble if there is another way.
It would already help me to verify whether I am right in assuming that the initial boot unlock runs before the Family Link app or whether I may have made a mistake somewhere else. I am wondering whether something else is going on since the login itself seems buggy (I can enter the password once, but then the phone does not give me a keyboard for a second try, so I need to reboot again).

I put a working SIM into a Pixel 3 and installed the Family Link app for my daughter. The phone never receives phone calls and always goes straight to '**line busy**'.
- Do not disturb is turned off.
- Volume is not silent.
- Call forwarding is off.
- Family Link app contacts are always allowed.
- Notification settings are always allowed.
- The phone has carrier service and can make calls. Just not receiving them.
- There are no other profiles on the phone.
Nothing is working. Can someone please help?

I have a Lenovo Tab P11 2nd Gen (TB132FU). After an upgrade to Android 14, the custom "Smart Launcher" preinstalled on this tablet keeps crashing. This sometimes interrupts actions I take in the UI. Even though I have installed another launcher (Microsoft Launcher), the old launcher seems to be running and crashing in the background.
On my main account, it crashes less frequently, but I also have a Google Family link installed, and my kids cannot use the tablet anymore with their restricted accounts.
I have connected the Tablet to the dev tools and received the following logs:

For me, it seems that the Launcher and/or the Google Family Link integration are not written for Android 14.
I would be willing to install another ROM or maybe even downgrade the tablet to e.g. Android 13.

**Introduction:**
Resetting an Android phone can be very tricky when Family Link is active, as I discovered when attempting to perform a factory data reset on my son's phone. Despite uninstalling the Family Link app, a persistent "Action Not Allowed" message prevented the reset, citing lingering parental controls.
**The Problem:**
The device displayed an "Action Not Allowed" error when trying to execute a factory data reset, indicating that Family Link parental controls were still in effect. Clicking "Learn more" reiterated that an administrator had the power to monitor and manage apps.
**Initial Attempts:**
- **Reinstalling Family Link:** Attempting to regain control over the settings by reinstalling and configuring the Family Link app on a
parent device.
- **Removing Supervision via Family Link:** Trying to remove the son's account from the Family Link supervision directly on the parent's
device.
- **Checking for Additional Google Accounts:** Ensuring no other Google accounts on the device had administrative control linked to Family
Link.
Despite these efforts, the reset was still blocked.

I want to install an application directly from .apk file on my child's phone. This operation is blocked due to the fact that the device is controlled by a parent.
On my child's phone I have an application called "Parental Control" installed. It is clearly from Google (help icon points to Google resources) though I have no idea what is it and how does it differs from Google Family Link.
Tapping (?) icon in the top-right corner opens a Family Link help where I can read (in "Unlock your child's device" section):
> 1. On your child's device, click **Parent Access**.
> 2. Enter the password for the parent's account used to supervise the child.
The problem is that I cannot find even a trace of "Parent Access" button or menu item. Neither in this "Parental Control" nor anywhere within the system (Readme 9A, Android 11).
Trying to resolve the above, in addition to this "Parental Control", I have also installed "the original" (?) Google Family Link app (also on child's phone). But when I am trying to run it, I am falling into a never-ending loop of:
1. Welcome to Family Link
2. Continue as [child name] (button)
3. The Family Link app is for parents
4. Parent sign-in (button)
5. Welcome to Family Link
I don't know what am I missing or doing wrong.
**How can I access "parent mode" in Google Family Link-supervised child's phone? Or temporarily disable this supervision? How can I install some third-party application directly from .apk file on Google Family Link-supervised device?**
This Redmi 9A phone is used as a spare device when the actual phone (Redmi 11S) is being repaired. But I recall that I had exactly the same problems (i.e. never-ending loop in Google Family Link) on Redmi 11S.

I've found "Controls for 3rd-party apps" and there I set "Let child sign in to apps that only require basic info", but there is no option for "all apps" (and all apps want more than basic info).
I want retroactive control, not active one. Possible?

I use Google FamilyLink to restrict time/access to my kids phone.
Because I do not want fixed time restrictions, I used the following configuration:
- The phone is locked from 00:00 to 23:59, i.e., without manual unlock from a parent, the kids do not have access.
- Access is granted on request by using the "bonus time" feature.
Unfortunately, a device ran out of battery and lost its time setting.
The situation now is that
1. The device is offline, i.e., it does not connect to the local WiFi (could not figure out why).
2. It cannot be unlocked with time-based codes, because the time is wrong on the device.
Is there a way to unlock the device?
ADB is disabled, but recovery mode provides a root shell to the device and TWRP would allow access to the data partition. The device is running LineageOS version 18.1.

I'm on Android 13.
I'm finding it hard setting up a child profile and using FL app in general a huge PITA. I even had to call Google and hard reset the tablet at one point!
Current issue is I have child using my own profile whilst I try to sort out theirs. So they have apps on my profile.
I want an easy way to transfer these apps (or allow permission or whatever method) to allow them to use certain (their) apps on their profile without them having to access my profile and without me having to manually download and authorise each app one by one to their profile.
It really should be intuitive as it's an obvious thing to want to do. But it isn't. In general as I said I find FL app and Android settings in general not intuitive to use. I don't find that the settings or FL app menu "titles" direct you properly to what you want to do. Eg can't find it in "apps" or "permissions" or "parental controls" all of which would be good places to put an "allow *child profile* access to app" or "transfer apps between profiles" button/slider/menu 🙄
Many thanks for any help.

com.google.android.documentsui

How it is possible? App author claims that is an essential system component that must exist, exists by default in Android 11+ and is only gone when user tries to debloat the phone which I personally didn't do.
Is there any other reason for com.google.android.documentsui
for not existing? Has Redmi removed it intentionally from their Redmi 11S' version of Android? Can Family Link be blocking or removing this file?

I tried to put my boy under my supervision on Google Family Link. I put a limited number of apps on his phone, only what he needs without a browser at all. One of the apps it has is Google Docs. Google Docs on smartphones has an option called 'Explore', where you can search the Internet, and it simply links you to Google and acts as a real browser.
To try: open a sample document > enter edit mode (when the cursor is flashing) > click on the drawing of the three dots > Explore
The whole idea was to block the browser so that it would be impossible to surf the Internet, but Google forgot a small hole in their security.
I haven't even found a way to contact Google themselves, but I think that even if I contact them, no one will really care about me.
Does anyone have an idea how to block it?
Update: Google remove the exploer option

Family link setup prevents making phone calls and using Messages app

I got phones for my kids, and I set them up with family link. Because I'd previously had a similar setup and they would continually factory reset the phone to get rid of the family link supervision, I set these phones up with an account I own and used that to enable "Find my phone" so that if they factory reset the phone they still can't use it without my pin. Then I turned on multiple user profiles, and created a second profile that's managed by family link. All of this works fine. (The phones are Pixel 7s with the stock carrier ROM.)
What's odd is that they can use everything except the phone app and Google Messages. When they try to place a call during allowed time, the phone app says that only emergency calls are allowed. And when they try to open Messages, it says
This app isn't allowed by the device owner
, even though I've got it set to always allowed.
How can I enable these to allow the phone to actually be a phone?

How to activate time left notification in Google Family Link?
I installed the Google Family Link app on my kid's phone, mainly to limit his screen time. He asked me to be notified before his time is running out but I can't find a way to activate such a notification. Is there a way my son can tell how much time he has left to use his phone?

I have Family Link control over my daughter. Now, we bought her a new Android phone. The phone is under her own account we created on Google. Now, we have installed WhatsApp. But when we go to backup options in WhatsApp trying to backup the WhatsApp data to her Google account, WhatsApp comments that this cannot be done. I suspect it is due to the Family Link.
After approving all apps for her with zero limitations, I still cannot back up WhatsApp data to her Google account.
How to solve such an issue?
