My daughter has changed her lock screen password. Didn't write it down. And had forgotten it. And so her phone is locked.
What I observe is:
* After restart, she's been asked a code. I can't find anyway to reset that code.
* Her phone is connected to the web. I can see today's date on the Family Link page for her account.
* I cannot find a way to switch from user on her phone (i.e. logging with my own account)
* Stopping and Restarting the device is not possible. The phone remains on that lock screen. Only a hard-shutdown is possible (Volume up/Volume down/Power during a few seconds).
* The phone doesn't ring when I ask it to ring from the Family Link page.
I tried various ways to connect to the phone :
* The procedures with *Find My Device* don't work, because :
* When I connect to Google with my own account, I cannot switch to her account, and hence don't see her phone as candidate phone to work on.
* When I connect with her account, she has no rights to use that application.
* The Family Link page provides a 6-digits code that changes every hour supposedly providing access to the phone. It doesn't. The phone keeps saying invalid password.
* The Family Link page lets define a new lock screen password. Defining a new password doesn't help despite a hard restart of the phone.
What are my options now ? A hard reset of the phone is acceptable. But even that I don't succeed to do.
----
PS: The phone is a Samsung A03

I tried wiping my old Lenovo tablet using the following methods, but none work
- Factory reset through the phone
- Erase all data using Google's Find my Phone
- 'wipe data/factory reset' -> 'Yes -- delete all user data' reset using the bootloader
So, I installed ADB through android-tools on my latest Manjaro Cinnamon as well as android-udev and tried the following, but they don't work either.
$ recovery --wipe_data
/system/bin/sh: recovery: not found
127|shell@android:/ $
$ wipe data
Wiping /data
Error opendir'ing /data 'Permission denied'
Done wiping /data
shell@android:/ $
$ adb shell am broadcast -a android.intent.action.MASTER_CLEAR
Broadcasting: Intent { act=android.intent.action.MASTER_CLEAR }
Broadcast completed: result=0
The device won't load as fastboot nor is there an option to fastboot under recovery or developer tools. So adb reboot bootloader
or fastboot devices
does nothing either. No root access option in developer tools either. So:
$ su
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
127|shell@android:/ $
and
$ adb root
adbd cannot run as root in production builds
$ rm -rf /data/*
rm failed for -rf, No such file or directory
So I don't know how to proceed and feel like I am out of options. Can someone help me, please?

It happens every now and then that an app crashes on my Philips 65PUS9006 Android TV.
The problem is that I haven't found a way to restart the app from the Philips TV Remote.
- Is there a way to restart an app on a Philips Android TV with the help of the TV remote only?
- Alt, is there a way to completely restart Android on a Philips Android TV with the help of the TV remote only?
*I don't want to have to pull the plug out of the power outlet (like I have been doing so far), just to be able to restart an app that is not responding anymore.*

I'm unable to go to recovery mode to factory reset (wipe my cache/data) my Android Mini 7100 Phone (Android GingerBread 2.3.x) because I forgot my phone lock combination.
I tried resetting it using:
- Vol Down + Power,
- Vol Up + Power,
- Vol Up + Vol Down + Power,
- Vol Up + Vol Down + Home + Power,
and the phone starts normally
- When I press Home + Power, it goes to 'Test' mode.
I checked out this YouTube video but it did not work for me.
How do I go to recovery mode?

How can I block factory reset on a phone?
is there a way to block factory reset on a phone? Like delete the functionality, make it totally impossible. Thanks! Note: Not something like Factory Reset Protection, something that doesn't let you wipe the phone in the first place.

My camera app on my Android phone has disappeared.

It all started yesterday.
Everything had been working fine until then, but all of the sudden, my camera app didn't respond anymore (*Can't connect to camera* was the message I was getting).
I got the same message when starting apps that used the camera (e.g. Snapchat).
I went to *Settings->Apps*, and forced-quit every single app and stopped every process; still, nothing.
At that point, I decided to hard reset my phone, and now, there is no camera app at all.
I have tried looking for it in the disabled apps directory in *Settings->Apps*, and still, it is nowhere to find...
I am really frustrated, as I can't use my camera at this point in my mobile phone (neither rear- nor front-camera)...
Is there anything I could do to solve this issue?
**SPECS**:
- Phone: BQ Aquaris E4.5
- Android: Version 5.0

I'm trying to fix a Samsung S3 which has been stuck on the boot logo continously, and cannot boot up. The phone keeps displaying the logo (which says "Samsung" and the phone model) when the power button is pressed, and it will not shut off unless I remove the battery.
My first attempt at fixing this was to enter recovery mode (holding the power button, volume up, and home button at startup), but the diagonistic menu didn't show up. Repeated attempts of removing the SIM and SD cards first also resulted in failure... nothing happened when I held those keys down.
Strangely, download mode (holding the power button, volume down, and home button) worked. The screen lit up with a prompt to enable the mode. However, the phone isn't mine (I'm just helping someone fix it) and they don't want to reflash their firmware if possible. I have done rooting before and understand the process, but since it's not mine the risk is too great.
Will reflashing the firmware fix the problem? Is this a hardware or a software issue? What does it mean if I can't enter recovery mode?

I have forgotten pattern/passcode for my brand new Xiaomi Mi5. So, I need to do a factory reset to recover the access.
However, when I try to boot to the fastboot/bootloader menu (using power and volume keys, as instructed on other posts), it gets stuck at the screen showing the fastboot logo and a little white animal fixing the little android robot (which appears to be the fastboot logo). No menus are displayed for reset etc. It just doesn't go past this screen.
I've also tried installing the android SDK to try and run commands from PC command line, but -
a) I cannot find the commands
b) The device is not being recognised by the PC. But I'd rather just factory reset manually if possible, cause the SDK way looks complicated.

So, I have a rooted (may have reverted by now, cannot be sure, will explain why below) 4.1.2 Android, Kruger&Matz LIVE 1.
Full story is this:
Went to bed at about 19 (really tired after working) phone okay. Woke up at 8 in the morning phone still okay. Woke up again at 14 phone had the "input your pin to unlock sim". I thought "huh, weird." I did that and ever since then it has been restarting every 2 to 3 minutes.
So I started looking into it. The first thing I came upon was some wifi channel bug. So I tested it, it was restarting itself only when connected to the internet. So I rebooted the rooter but the problem persisted. Changed the wifi at a friend, the phone was still restarting. Then I tried wiping the cache from the recovery menu. That didn't work either. So I looked into it even further, everything pointing towards a hard reset.
Backed up only contacts and sms; formatted the SD Card as well as the SD Card that acts as an "internal storage", went into recovery mode, wiped the cache again and when I tried "wiping/factory reset" it gave me this error:
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
Data wipe complete.
Performing factory reset...
-- mkdir /data/app fail. err is -1 So I thought it was because it was still rooted. So I restarted the phone and I noticed something really interesting. The data on the SD Card that acts as an "internal storage" had been restored. After unrooting the phone I tried again with the same error. I also tried hard formatting the "internal storage" from my PC but the data was restored even after that. That's why I don't think my phone has been unrooted. Also even though it's called "internal storage" it isn't. It's just a built in 1GB SD Card, doesn't have any system files on it, just downloaded apps and save files that are installed here if there is no additional SD Card present. (that's why I'm so confused as to why it's restoring these files in particular) Any help will be greatly appreciated! P.S: Even in Safe Mode, while running better, just by going into Manage Apps, the phone restartes after a few minutes, so installing and uninstalling apps is a little tricky, especially because they magically reappear every time the phone restarts.

Over the last several days, my phone suddenly started giving me a problem. It gets into a restart cycle - there is no pattern of when this problem occurs. It's very random, also the number of restarts in each instance is variable.
I did factory reset twice (including cache partition clear) and hard reset (from recovery menu)
Now I see some reduction in the problem, but it's not completely gone. It's my gut feeling it's a software issue.
Is there any way to keep debugger logs on at the sys level so that next time a problem happens and after a restart, I might get some clues?

Having looked around hither and thither now for a night as to how to factory reset a Nokia 2.2, I am still a bit confused and unable to do it.
Holding **volume-down + power on** brings me to a boot screen saying *"=> FASTBOOT mode"*, but no buttons are having effect after that. Apparently the next step is to connect it via usb cable to a Windows computer with some specific tool or another installed on it?
I've seen people in youtube videos apparently using a Windows tool called **'InfinityBox AST '** , and I have tried running that in a Windows VM, but for some (in my opinion) suspect reason, 'InfinityBox' decides to detect that's it's being ran under VirtualBox, and instantly refusing to launch with a message specifically stating that it wont run on a Virtual Machine.
*(This 'vm detector' behavior is enough of a reason to me being quite reluctant and suspicious to even having attempted to run the utility trough Wine/Proton)*
- **Is there really no way to factory reset a Nokia 2.2 TA-1188 cellphone *without* requiring an actual physical (Windows) PC in addition to some shady unofficial utility made by neither Google nor Nokia?**
- If not possible without a PC, is there some Linux software solution able to perform the task?
