I have an offline saved htm web page on sdcard to test Javascript. The default render on my phone seems to be HTML Viewer. But when I tried to open the page, the code didn't run. I know this because there's some html tag in the page I was added to detect this:
/* my Javascripts */
The current browser can't run Javascript.
which displays on the page: "The current browser can't run Javascript."
So how can I enable Javascript in HTML Viewer? Both Opera and Browser are somehow can't found out the file when I typed in the address textbox:
file://localhost/sdcard/page.htm
The problem exist on almost any phone. But the later just works on some of my phone. Another not.

Local files revisited: Opening local HTML files (file:///path/to/file) in Chrome on Android 10.x

You may note the almost duplicate title from this question . It keeps coming up when trying to solve my current issue.
I created a little web app to help at work. Just some HTML and JavaScript, and before Android started enforcing the Scoped Storage, I had no issues using it. Now when I try to load the URL (ie:
file:///storage/emulated/0/__MyDocs/SignInTracker.html
) I get an access denied error.
I could use Firefox, but it seems to be because it's not yet using the Scoped Storage standard, which if I understand correctly, will be a requirement in the next Android version, so that means I cannot rely on it working in the future. Also, Firefox just doesn't run as nicely as Chrome.
Is there a proper way for a non-Android-developer to use a local web app like this? Is there perhaps a location on the phone where I can place my .html and .js files that will allow Chrome to access them without issues? At work, I'm not online or connected to anything, so loading from another server/computer is not an option.
For reference: My Chrome version is 79.0.3945.116, my Firefox version is 68.4.1, and my phone OS is Android 10; Pixel Build/QP1A.191005.007.A1.

How to save an HTML page from a web site using Chrome

I have a web site that has some simple HTML pages with no images, no external CSS or JavaScript references. So the whole HTML page is a single self-containing file that has HTML code, together with *inline* CSS and JavaScript code. In other words, once I copy the HTML file into my
Downloads
folder on my mobile device, I can use it (while being ***offline***) by loading the following into the Chrome browser:
file:///storage/emulated/0/Download/my_page.html
The problem is that I cannot download the web page from my web site into the Downloads
folder using Chrome on my mobile device: When I go to:
https://my-site.tld/xxx/my_page.html
and display the page in the mobile browser, I can use the download (⭳) button on Chrome browser's tab; however it creates an .mthml
file instead, with a name like this:
Title of My Page.mhtml
When I try to open this file while my mobile device is offline, none of the interactive content on the page (e.g., buttons, input boxes, etc.) is enabled. Note that my page contains interactive content that is processed ***locally*** by JavaScript contained in the page.
Currently, the only solution is to connect my mobile device to my PC (using USB for example) and copy the .html
file from my PC to the mobile's Downloads
file. Once I copy the .html
file and open it on my mobile device using the file:///...
URL as given above, the page's JavaScript works as expected (contrary to the .mhtml
version).
Assuming that the .html
page on my-site
is updated frequently, it is tedious to download it to PC and copy over my mobile phone when I need an update. There must be a more direct way.

For some reasons, I am producing some HTML files from Terminal IDE. However, I can't seem to open any of them located in the working directory. Say we have

Firefox shows nothing after I enter the URL

And Chrome complains 'Access denied'.
I don't want to root the device. Any walkaround?

How can a complete web page be saved and viewed on an Android device?

There are situations when I require to save a "complete" web page for offline reading. I can easily do that on Windows by saving the web page, but not on Android.
I am using _Chrome_ on Android and I don't see a _"Save"_ option. Instead, I see _"Save link"_ which, I believe, saves "only" the _"pure HTML"_ version of a site of which the link leads to.
I have tried this, but when I view it in the _HTML Viewer_, a lot of necessary CSS formatting and all the images were lost, which made the information misleading and incomplete respectively. I thought I downloaded the complete page and the fault was that of the HTML Viewer for not rendering everything, but I was wrong, as the desktop Chrome also displayed the "only HTML" version when I transferred those pages to my laptop through _Bluetooth_.
So, my question is: **How can I download "a complete" web page on my Android smartphone?** It's OK if I can't view it on my smartphone, but everything should be in place when I view it on my laptop after transferring it. It is also OK if it is saved as a PDF file.
P.S. I'm asking this as I use the internet very often on my smartphone because my laptop is not connected to the internet. Also, I want to transfer it to my laptop because I don't want to view those "important" pages on a small screen, it's inconvenient.

I´m facing the challenge to transfer a long-grown (local) HTML documentation to Android.
As you probably know, all Android web browsers refuse the usage of local links inside the Android file system for security reasons. As the documentation will be used in field work, the upload to a web server is not an option. Even the experiments with local web servers on Android were unsatisfying. They are either unstable (due to the internal handling as a standard user app), lead to peculiar issues in the presention in browser and do not support links to HTML sites in folders, other than the site you are coming from.
Do you have any recommendations for the rebuilding of a local linked documentation? Is there any simple generic framework or app to accomplish this task? The writing, linking and management of the help documents should likely be done in Windows like before. I still did some research on this topic, but I couldn´t find any satisfying solution.

I have multiple chrome html files on PC that are all linked together.
For example, there is a table of contents and if I click **A** it will then open the html file for **A** and this can be then used to go back to the table of contents or I can go to **B**).
However, putting all these files together on mobile **(SAMSUNG S8+ Updated up to date)** does not allow them to be connected no matter which web browser or html viewing application I try to use (Clicking to go to another page just gives an error saying the other html file cannot be found). Additionally, the images part of the html document do not seem to load on mobile despite being in the same folder still.
I am wondering if there is a way to have all of these files linked on android as it does on PC.

I use my tablet for Geocaching, specifically to have cache listings available in the field. For this purpose, I have a program called Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (also known as GSAK) generate HTML files on a regular basis, which I have copied onto a memory card. Normally, when I go out into the field and look up a cache, I have the index file as the home page in a browser, and then follow the links from the index to the actual cache listing.
I have been using a Dell Venue 8 for this task, but the battery finally died (won't take a charge),
and Dell has gotten out of the Android tablet market, so I bought a Samsung S7 Fe to replace it.
**Problem:**
Unfortunately, I can load the index file fine, and all the files are there, but none of the multiple browsers I've tried will allow me to navigate beyond the index file. The error I get is:
"Content links are blocked", it may have been moved, edited, or deleted
(This varies by browser, but the gist is the same)
Is there a setting that will enable the browser to follow links between local files?

I have a tablet that's locked up pretty good (Android 8.1). Locked bootloader, managed android OS, proprietary apps, etc... I'm trying to see if I can get an app to install on it. One way I've thought of is through the Android HTMLViewer (version 8.1).
The tablet has a help file that's HTML, which opens with HTMLViewer. So I tried throwing an apk file in the same directory, and seeing if I could modify the help.html file with an anchor tag that points to the apk.
I've tried the following:
download
download
download
download
Each one gives that same result. The viewer simply tries to parse the file and gives me a huge jumble of whacky characters.
I thought about writing a small script in Javascript utilizing the
FileReader
object, such as this .
However, I'm quite certain that HTML viewer is so slimmed down, it probably doesn't support this object. It is compatible with jquery, so I suppose there is some hope for this.
Any ideas on how I could tweak this to accomplish my goal would be greatly appreciated.
