HTML does not find local links and local images (Chrome on Android 10)
I am using a tablet (Lenovo M10 FHD Plus) which works under Android 10. I am using a tablet (Lenovo M10 FHD Plus) which works under Android 10. According to https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/220400/local-files-revisited-opening-local-html-files-file-path-to-file-in-chrome , in order to use local URLs in HTML, I put my documents in the folder: Files > Internal Storage > Android > data > com.android.chrome > files > Download Inside my "index.html" file I use: ...href="a1.html"... ...src="smily.gif"... The HTML files "index.html" and "a1.html" as well as the image "smily.gif" are located in my tablet inside the above-mentioned folder. When I click on the file "index.html" and select Chrome, the file is correctly opened by Chrome... but the "smily.gif" image is not displayed (I get instead the alt="This is a smily" text). Furthermore, when I click there on the link (local URL) to open the document "a1.html" Chrome does NOT find it, and displays instead an empty page with the following error message: > Your file couldn't be accessed > It may have been moved, edited, or deleted. > ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND Needless to say, the above HTML samples work perfectly on my Windows 10 computer (including local links and images)! My questions are: 1) Where should I put my files "index.html", "a1.html" and "smily.gif" (if the above-mentioned folder is wrong)? 2) If href="a1.html" and src="smily.gif" does not work in Android, how should I refer to local files in href= and src=? 3) Can the instruction: base href="___" help us here, in case the answer to point (2) requires long file paths? Thanks a lot for your kind help!

I have a problem using Samsung Internet Mobile Browser on my NoteFE running non-rooted Android 8.0. Some websites (like mega.nz) use - what I suppose - HTML5 to store data/files offline somewhere. To access the downloaded data as file, Samsung Internet then copies the download from the internal storage to a normal file. This looks like a download, but the data is already in some kind of cache. Chrome does the same, also on PC. Now, it seems like Samsung Internet doesn't delete this background data. However, looking at app details, I see "data" (not "cache"!) growing with each download, filling up my phones memory. It's already a couple of GB in size. How do I reclaim this space? Only option seems to be to 'clear data', which includes all bookmarks, site info, and what not.

If the loaded web page generates cookies and HTML5 local storage items, will those items be available: 1. to every web page loaded within Samsung Messenger during that session? 1. to every web page loaded within Samsung Messenger during later Messenger sessions? 1. to other apps that use WebView?

I was watching videos on m.youtube.com and got this System UI error. Video kept playing, until I pressed ok and everything crashed and 5 seconds later i see the lock screen. I unlock with my fingerprint and anytime I put play it does the same. I tryed other videos and the same thing happens, restart fixed for 5 mintues then I re got the glitch and any other html5 video doesn't work anymore. Also sometimes the home, back and recent apps button and the top bars disappear after this glitch before the screen going black etc. Youtube app works fine though... P.S. This happened on a Wiko UFEEL Prime running the latest update (6.0.1 ) I don't think it can be the hardware because I have 4GB of RAM and a 1.3GhZ octa-core processor.

How do I disable HTML5 player for Chrome on Android?
Whenever I click on a video link, it automatically takes me to the HTML5 player and doesn't even prompt me as to which player I want to use. Is there a way to force a prompt by altering the application files or something?

Whenever I play either an embedded HTML5 video or just watch it from the direct link on my Android device, the video plays for about 1 minute then stops as if it's trying to buffer. I tap the screen to bring up the GUI (so I can drag the playhead back a little) but nothing happens for a few seconds. Then it comes up but all the buffered video has disappeared and the time that the playhead is at will be about a few seconds ahead in time from when you pressed the play button initially. Sometimes it flicks between seconds. I then have to guess how far through my video I am and reposition the playhead for it to continue playing until I have to do it again. It's extremely tedious and annoying. Another thing is that when the video stops and the playhead glitches, sometimes the sound will keep playing as if the video had just been buffering but the video stays frozen. Example: I start playing from 0:00 and watch til about 1:30 (I don't see that I am at 1:30). The video freezes and I look at the playhead which flickers between 0:05 and 0:06. I reposition the play head at about where I think I got up to and the video plays as normal for about another minute until it happens again. I am running Cyanogen 12S on a OnePlus One. I'm using the latest Chrome Beta app for Android L.

I cannot find any working solution for how to enable autoplay. I have searched plenty of stackoverflow posts and many other sites ... I am using android 4.1.1.

We are using a web app (built for desktop) in Android tablet (Motorola ET1). Issue is that android soft keyboard is popping up whenever focus goes to a text box. On page load, focus is set to the text box but keyboard is not popping on page load. Users scan input data using tablet's scanner into this text box, we take scanned input and submit to the server. If the transaction is successful, text box gets cleared and focus is set in this text box to scan next input. when focus is set this time, android keyboard is popping up. I tried using blur to prevent keyboard popup, it prevents keyboard from popping up but focus is not in that text box so user cannot scan the input data. As an option, I installed null keyboard on Android tablet and provided jquery keyboard (https://github.com/Mottie/Keyboard/wiki) to enter input data if they want to enter data manually. This option seems to work technically but this shuts off the keyboard for entire tablet and users have other apps on the tablet so they are not happy with this solution. We are using dolphin browser in this tablet. Dolphin has cordova plugin to get an access to device's native functions. But I don't see anything related to keyboard. Also I am not finding any reference in HTML5 documentation also. Can you please suggest if there is any solution to this ? Please note that our application is a standard webapp and not built as Android app. Thanks.

I've been watching the caniuse.com site for a while now, and at one extreme we have Firefox releasing a new browser once/week (okay, slight exaggeration), and at the other extreme the Android list of 2.1/2.2/2.3/3.0/4.0/4.1/4.2 never changes. There is still nothing in the "Near future" or "Farther future" rows. There are a number of HTML5 technologies not implemented even in 4.2, and I'm wondering when there is a new version coming, and what we can expect it to support. (EDIT: I'm looking for links to official announcements, developer blogs, etc. or a confident "nobody knows"; not speculation.) (E.g. http://caniuse.com/eventsource ) (BTW, the StackOverflow Android tag seemed to suggest this was the best place to ask this kind of question. But if another site is better please let me know.)
