Unlocking Samsung and Apple phone, but have no passcode can I retrieve any data?
I’ve recently separated with my husband and I found two phones that I didn’t know about one as a Samsung one is an Apple iPhone. Both both are dead. Is it possible when they are charged to achieve any information? If I don’t know the passcode?

When iOS support ends for my iPhone, I would like to replace it with a Pixel phone and go with GrapheneOS. But I am wondering: (How) can I transfer my contacts, photos etc.? (without proprietary cloud solutions) It looks like there's the possibility to [transfer those data by Lightning2USB-C cable](https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/7129740?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccopy-data-from-your-old-phone-with-a-cable-recommended) . But this only works on StockROM and LineageOS, right? Not on GrapheneOS!? My idea was to buy the phone, flash Lineage (with GApps) on it, transfer the data from my iPhone, perform a SeedVault backup on an external drive, flash GrapheneOS and restore that backup on the device. Would this work? Has anyone tried? My two main uncertainties: 1. Does the cable transfer from iOS work with LineageOS? 1. Does restoring SeedVault backup between ROMs (Lineage, Calyx, Graphene etc.) work?

So, in addition to launcher's that work well for iPhone users, I'd like to find suitable way to make the keyboard comfy/ match an iPhone user. https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/11244/is-there-any-launcher-app-that-behave-like-iphone?rq=1 One of the primary interactions one has with the phone is its keyboard which comes into play with every app i.e. messaging, notes and so on. Few times I considered moving to Android and just felt out of place using Android keyboard. I do not like the Swype keyboards etc as well. Given that Android supports variety of custom keyboards, I was hoping that someone replicated the exact "typing feel, interaction & look" of iPhone iOS keyboard on Android for people who are coming in from the other side. I do not really care for the "look" but would like to have "it feel" as if I am wearing the iPhone "glove" that fits well. **I'm not just looking for color and shape, but "behavior" & "responsiveness" and full emulation/ copying of iPhone keyboard behaviors E.g. How the iphone letters of "pop up above the key" around when pressed.** I'm sure there are other intricate behaviors that someone with a fine eye or UI/UX insight would be able to observe and then maybe replicate/ hack towards Android.

The question is pretty much in the title. As a long time iPhone user who switched to Android in 2022, and despite being happy with Android and not seeing myself return to iOS, the one thing that's dogged me is how poor the security is on Android phones vs. iPhones. Even when buying a flagship Android like the Samsung S24U, it's still no where near as secure as something like an iPhone 15. You can see examples of this in things like the recently leaked support matrix slides that Cellebrite shows to their customers who are looking to crack into a phone. The iPhone matrix has far fewer vulnerable models and OSs than the Android matrix, which is almost literally green check-marks across the board. Here are the documents in question for iPhones , and Android . As you can see, a locked iPhone is pretty much down to brute-forcing even if it was never power-cycled, where as an Android that hasn't been power-cycled, but still locked, may as well have been left unlocked. Why is this? Is this a hardware architecture difference? Is this a difference in how Android works vs. iOS? What is it that makes a locked iPhone very difficult to break into, but an Android phone easy?

So I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this but I'm getting zero replies from support@signal.org so I thought I'd check in with the online community. I'm familiar with the security issues surrounding the "data" that Signal stores and that there is a master key that is used (created during installation) that is embedded into the Android phone and non-transferable. What I'm trying to figure out is how to either utilize the backup function to get from Android to iOS (however without the key that seems unlikely) or to utilize the move function that was built for Android-to-Android moves. I can find zero documentation on the function in the iPhone world. I have found references to "decrypting the data" for movement (a long and difficult process given that it was never meant to be exported and therefore it is a non-trivial, highly manual process) but haven't seen anything practical. Although this is a long shot, I'm just checking to see if anyone has successfully accomplished this either through some undocumented method that Signal built, or something less obvious. Unfortunately, I have over 5GB of messages and attachments over a 6-year period that I don't want to "throw away". (I've been digging around Stack Exchange to find the right place to post this and this one is the closest forum I've found so if it belongs elsewhere, let me know)

As most here are probably aware, there are issues communicating between iMessage and Android MMS/SMS apps. For me, I will send a message to an iMessage user and they may or may not receive it with no error message. Sometimes it's the other way around. I have tried to deregister my number from iMessage (my number is not registered with them apparently) and I've made sure I have sufficient data and/or wifi and watched it happen (or not happen) in real time. I've heard of AirMessage but chances of someone with an Android phone having a spare Apple pc to leave powered on all day seems quite slim. To this day I can't get my American peers to install WhatsApp without major pushback. As someone who does not participate in major social media platforms (for my mental health), this has resulted in many missed opportunities time and time again. So I have a 2 part question: 1) What exactly is the technical explanation for this phenomenon? 2) In late 2023, what is the state of the art "solution" for this ongoing frustrating problem? Has anyone out there "fixed" inter-platform messaging for themselves?

Set up a contact database and sync it between iPhone and Android devices

I'm trying to switch from an iPhone 3GS to a Galaxy SII and got multiple questions. This one concerns migrating text messages (SMS). I've found quite some articles, basically, they fall into two categories: 1. Getting the text message SQLite database from the iTunes backup and exporting stuff manually to CSV files. 2. Importing the SQLite database directly with tools. Most pages link to this article . Problem: Apparently, this only works in iOS < 5.0 or iTunes < 10, don't know. With newer backups, the SQLite database can not be opened anymore, and the Android tools mentioned do not work anymore. So I'm looking for any other suggestions on how to correctly migrate the text messages to Android. Note: I'm aware that maybe this is more an iPhone question than an Android. Nevertheless, I hope to find someone here who faced the same problems. This is exactly the reason why I'm migrating in the first place.

all. My only smartphone experience is with an old iPhone 6S someone gave me. My 92yo MIL's landlline went down and won't be back up for a while (we're in the country--things take forever), so we decided to get a cell phone for her, and one for my husband while we were at it. We got Pixel 7s because that's what came free with the two new lines. Then we decided I would get one of the Pixel 7s and give her my old iPhone because the iPhone is less complicated to use. Android has been a huge learning curve for us after using iPhone for so long. Our carrier is T-Mobile, and the phones were set up at the store. Needless to say, some data was not transferred to the Pixel 7 from the iPhone and the setup process is now "finished". How can I transfer text messages from iPhone to Pixel 7 at this point? I would like to get all my data off the iPhone so I can clean it up and give it to my MIL. She lives along and I don't like her being without a phone. I may be a newbie to Android, but I have done some computer programming (enough to be dangerous) and capable of following directions and not (too) afraid to do so. Please don't tell me to do a factory reset. I have spent a fair amount of time downloading apps and making sure I can log into them again. Thanks in advance, everyone, for your assistance. --Elizabeth

My friend recently made the decision to switch to Android from iOS. Since she's not particularly tech-savvy, I'm tasked with migrating her WhatsApp data from her **iPhone 7** to her new **Redmi Note 11T 5G** (MIUI 12.5.2, based on Android 11) phone. I've tried a couple of apps that promise very straight-forward WhatsApp chat transfers between iOS and Android through a PC, but the three apps I tried were ridiculously slow, and just randomly failed mid-way after several hours of progress. However, I must note that I did find a couple of chats from 2021, which would've come only through the transfer. But surely, something was wrong if only a couple of chats, that too from 2021, were transferred over several hours. Then I came across [this guide](https://www.androidcentral.com/how-restore-your-whatsapp-chats-iphone-android) which suggests exporting the individual chats from the iPhone, and send it by email to the new Android device. I downloaded the exported chats on the new phone before installing WhatsApp on it. I also made sure the Google Drive backups don't exist. When WhatsApp goes through the setup process however, it can't detect backups in the Google drive at the restore backups screen, and only gives me the option to skip. And when I press skip, it goes straight to the main chats page, and doesn't recognise the exported chats. Should I move these chats to a specific location? Is there a better way to move WhatsApp chats from iOS to Android? This never happened! The "Backup found" page shown in the image on the aforementioned guide never happened.
