On my old telephone, I had an app called "DND toggle" which did just that - toggled the state of Do Not Disturb, and I found it very useful; I linked it to a programmable button for easy access.
I bought a new phone (same manufacturer) and requested transfer of all apps and settings. "DND toggle" was not transferred, and it seems to have disappeared from Play Store. It is not listed under Play Store > Manage apps & device, but it **is** listed on the old phone under Settings > App info. Nor can I find a similar app.
Is there any way of transferring the app? I still have the old phone.
Edit 15jan
On advice from @IsHacker I extracted the APK on the old phone and installed it on the new phone. I had to override a warning about privacy, but it installed OK and now works.

I recently acquired a replacement phone and as soon as I mounted my existing SD card, the files disappeared while the SD card is showing the storage is in fact used. When I looked at it further, it seemed that Android recognized the files as 'system'. Now, even mounting it on Windows through an SD card reader doesn't work. However, if I use the MTP USB storage mode, it does show but without the files (just shows an empty SD card).
Is there a way to undo or recover these files?

The question is: if I sync the tablet, will the data on the tablet (WhatsApp conversations, calendar events, contacts, etc) be deleted or merged? And if they will be deleted, how can I merge the old data to my new smartphone?

Last month my phone started to die, so before it died completely I switched to another I have. I have google cloud active for sms, photos contacts, whats app etc.. For years I monthly transfer photos and videos for free spacing and within the 15GB limit. (Backup)
All went well with the migration process in phones, contacts, sms, calls, whatsapp etc..
But when I looked at my google photos app in new and older phone after maybe 5 minutes from all the syncs had finished, What was my amazement when I got no photos in the google photos. Try web google photos and nothing too. In worst case scenario should be in recycle bin for 60 days.
I´m not a newbie in this things and work in IT. but this is scary.
I contacted google and they are sending stupid responses.
I'm telling them to see the historic commands, that they should have to see i´m not covering some stupid mistakes. I have a print too that shows that for some hours the drive got the space of photos with storage used, but not showing to me. Now is permanently empty.
I tried used some programs like recuva etc and only found whats app old photos.
My last chance is if the cache of my old phone that i can see is accessible, have something like 1,25 gb. Don´t know if google saves his photos there. The folder on android -> com.google.android.apps.photos don't have nothing too.
Any tips?
Be aware Guys

How can I back up app data from an unrooted phone?

I’m trying to get normally‐inaccessible app data off my ageing Pixel 3 running Android 12. It’s OEM‐locked so unfortunately I can’t root it without losing the very data I want to try to back up. I don’t really care about being able to restore it to another Android phone; I just want to get whatever data off the phone I can.
Things I already know won’t work:
*
adb pull
: requires root to access app data
* adb backup
: deprecated and seems to have been completely neutered for Play Store apps by now
* Google cloud sync: not an option for many things (e.g. comprehensive Chrome history, Element’s database)
The tentative plan I’ve hatched is as follows:
1. Obtain a burner Android phone
2. OEM‐unlock the burner phone so as to be able to flash something that will let me extract data from it (e.g. TWRP, or whatever people use to root devices these days)
3. Perform a device migration (“D2D transfer”) from my Pixel to the burner phone – I know this won’t necessarily recover *everything*, as apps can opt out and there’s potential encryption issues, but it seems to be the most comprehensive app backup option available (hence e.g. Seedvault [pretending to do D2D transfer](https://github.com/seedvault-app/seedvault/issues/165) to achieve more complete backups)
4. Exfiltrate the data from the burner phone in whatever manner
The question is, will this work? I can imagine various potential issues, but it’s difficult to find information about online; maybe there’s some Play Integrity/SafetyNet type thing going on to ensure that migration doesn’t happen to an unlocked device – I’d assume there’s *something* to try and make it harder to subvert Android’s app security model with this? If it won’t work, is there anything at all that might achieve similar results? (The Android developer documentation has information about [testing D2D backup directly](https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/testingbackup) , but it doesn’t give the impression that you can access the resulting data.) If it will work, is there any way it could be simplified (e.g. emulating an Android device in a VM on a computer and using USB passthrough of some kind for the migration, to skip the need for a second phone)?

So I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this but I'm getting zero replies from support@signal.org so I thought I'd check in with the online community.
I'm familiar with the security issues surrounding the "data" that Signal stores and that there is a master key that is used (created during installation) that is embedded into the Android phone and non-transferable. What I'm trying to figure out is how to either utilize the backup function to get from Android to iOS (however without the key that seems unlikely) or to utilize the move function that was built for Android-to-Android moves. I can find zero documentation on the function in the iPhone world.
I have found references to "decrypting the data" for movement (a long and difficult process given that it was never meant to be exported and therefore it is a non-trivial, highly manual process) but haven't seen anything practical.
Although this is a long shot, I'm just checking to see if anyone has successfully accomplished this either through some undocumented method that Signal built, or something less obvious.
Unfortunately, I have over 5GB of messages and attachments over a 6-year period that I don't want to "throw away".
(I've been digging around Stack Exchange to find the right place to post this and this one is the closest forum I've found so if it belongs elsewhere, let me know)

(PS: I'd rather not have to revert to Firefox's "sync"-feature for various reasons... anyway, it's obvious that "sync" would work, but that's not the question here...)

EDIT:
- My phone(s) aren't rooted.
- Neither a 3rd-party app, nor a cloud-based solution is what I'm interested in.

I'm trying to migrate application data between devices. The application was installed to the work profile using [Shelter]() The steps I did were:
1. On source phone,
tar cvf appdata.tar.gz /data/user/10/com.appname
2. Copy the tarball from the source phone to the target phone
3. On the target phone, install the applications to the work profile. Note the username of the /data/user/10/com.appname
on the target phone, which is of the form u10_aXXX
4. On the target phone, chown -R u10_aXXX:u10_aXXX /data/user/10/com.appname
When I'm trying to use the app, it receives a lot of SELinux AVC denials and ends up crashing because it's unable to open /data/user/10/com.appname/databases/database.db
:
10-18 16:23:28.485 4120 4120 W SharedPreferenc: type=1400 audit(0.0:889): avc: denied { search } for name="shared_prefs" dev="dm-0" ino=860652 scontext=u:r:untrusted_app:s0:c522,c768 tcontext=u:object_r:app_data_file:s0 tclass=dir permissive=0
What am I missing? Application works after setting SELinux to permissive.

As you probably know (https://faq.whatsapp.com/1150261202542208) , Whatsapp is not going to support Android 4 phones from 23rd of October this year; the minimum supported Android version will be 5.0
I want to move and merge all my conversations and files from my old Android phone to my newer one (they both have been used with the same phone number).
Unfortunately, I don't have any Google Drive backups on the old phone. Also, I hadn't done any other transfer/migration to my latest phone. I remember that when I'd installed Whatsapp on my newer phone, the application stopped working on the older phone.
Old phone:
- Android 4.2.2 (Samsung Galaxy S Duos GT-S7562)
- Whatsapp 2.21.17.23 (installed from here );
- no Google Drive backups;
- WhatsApp is no longer working (only on the old phone), since I'd installed it on my latest phone;
- at some moment I had to install the Google Play Store 25.2.27-16 for the Whatsapp to continue running (installed from here ; more here ); it now displays "Your phone date is inaccurate! Adjust your clock and try again" (but the date displayed is correct)
New phone:
- Whatsapp 2.23.14.79
- Android 13; OneUI 5.1
Thank you very very very much!

This is a follow-up troubleshooting question to [this one here](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/250092/full-adb-backup-not-creating-ab-file-for-realme-2-pro) in this very same forum.
After repeatedly confirming the connection through both of
adb devices -l
and fastboot devices -l
tantamounting to at least ~5½ of overall sessions for the restore command of a 7.95GB-heavy backup file, whenever there's a successful prompt after proper command-execution of the following:
restore
But I managed to notice the constant: The restoration always gets stuck on com.qualcomm.timeservice
quite oddly till time-immemorial, since I understand that [I might be at fault somehow, somewhere — but in spite of that, if the latest builds of so-called AOSP do not support alarm-ringing during device shutdown [not caused by battery-drainage], I can safely conclude that the alarm did work during switch-off state of my device at least once.](https://android.stackexchange.com/a/119927) Doesn't that translate to the package working fine, instead of having gone corrupt by the time I created the .ab
file?
More details for those who un-stereotypically can digest in-depth text, they may [get better context over there](https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/help-adb-restore-not-ever-completing-in-spite-of-file-size-of-mere-8gb-and-data-transfer-tool-doing-its-deed-but-not-perfect-owing-to-a-human-error.4551025) with some back-citation to key comments in that preceding question over here.
But other than the exact package which gets stuck, I should also note that I did try push
after 1-2 trials-&-errors to determine which one is exactly it. It went upto 100% in Enabled
recovery mode, and then.. Failed to be stored by the time I booted the device last-time I clean-reinstalled the latest-build[ as I originally send this] of LineageOS 19.
The rest of the context is summarised there, except that I haven't tried bmgr
of shell
'cus using bu help
wasn't much of a help, so it slipped my mind to try creating backup through that method — nevermind restoring.

I want to move my WhatsApp messages from my iPhone 5c to my OnePlus Nord N200 5G running Android 12. I've been running WhatsApp in an iPhone 5c with iOS, which is the last iOS version for this iPhone. Recently WhatsApp forced users to upgrade to the latest iOS app, but the latest version is only supported for iOS 12+. I am now locked out of WhatsApp.
Before I was locked out, I followed the official steps [here](https://faq.whatsapp.com/625237248445474) multiple times to perform this migration, but the messages are never transferred to Android. Under "How to migrate from iPhone to Android 12 and above", after substep 5, I am never prompted to scan a QR code and open WhatsApp iOS; I get no Whatsapp-related notification on Android. I don't get an error message. I tried the transfer both during the initial setup phase after the factory reset and after you get a notification asking you to finish setting up your phone.
There's an app called MobileTrans that claims to transfer WhatsApp messages between the two platforms, but it's not free, and I've heard your data is transferred to a third party.

I used audio notes extensively on my old Samsung phone. Now I'm migrating to a Pixel 7 pro and I love the Google Recorder app which is only available on Pixel phones. It has live transcription and audio search. However, I can't seem to find a way to import my old audio notes into the recorder app. I have the audio files on my new phone as well as on Google drive, but there doesn't seem to be an option to add audio files. I'd like to keep all my audio notes in one app so I can search them, and of course getting the free auto-transcription for my old notes is a major bonus.
Is there any solution to this? At an extreme I could re-record the audio notes by playing them into a high quality microphone plugged into my phone. But that would be very time consuming so if there is any way to directly add the files please advise!

I've just switched phones from iPhone to a Pixel 3a and one of the things I'm missing right now is double double tap to zoom in Chrome. I haven't found anything suggesting the feature doesn't exist on Android. I've found a few questions asking how to disable it but I don't see those options myself so I can't just enable it.
When I double click a block of text instead of zooming to fit the screen it just selects the word I tapped. Instead I have to tweak the zoom level with pinch-to-zoom until it is sized properly.
Am I missing some setting to enable this? Is there another way to zoom to fit? Are there any alternatives to pinch-to-zoom?

*Attempting my first migration between two phones with different Android versions has got me very confused.*
All my apps and data are currently working and complete on an Android 4.4 phone. Internal storage has the core system plus Google apps while all remaining is on a MicroSDHC card. This includes everything that must be transferred intact to a new phone.
Just got a new phone with Android 7.0 in a factory-clean state. There is nothing of value yet on this phone, so it is OK if the process resets and otherwise destroys anything on it. What I am so far not able to do is get the apps and data of the old phone onto the new one.
When installing the phone with the *Copy from Other Android Device* option, my contacts, calendar and Hangouts get copied but pretty much nothing else. Even if I install an app which existing on the old phone into the new one, it appears blank despite having selected to *Save and Restore App Data* in the *Backup & Reset* settings of *both* phones.
One would have expected to be able to just insert the MicroSDHC card from the old phone, which contains all apps and data that matters, into the new one but it just does not work. The new phone offers the option to *Format* or *Format as Internal Storage* the card or to use it for photos (not sure of the exact wording right now). Of course, any type of formatting would obliterate the data which is desired but then how do I get the new phone to use the card with its current apps and data?
Is there a way I can *convert* rather than *format* the card? The point of having an SDHC card and to place all apps and data on it was, after all, to be able to port this but I have no idea how to get it to work between these two versions of Android.
**How can I ensure that apps and data from an Android 4.4 phone get migrated to a 7.0 one?**

I move all apps to mi mover.
1. Some apps are moved
2. Another apps have a message "not installed"
This is weird. The whole point of using mi mover is so I don't have to reinstall all those apps one by one.
So I reinstall one by one.
Then I tried to move the apps again.
Now it seems to be working.
However, when I open whatsapp in the new phone I do not see my old whatsapp. I basically have to input my phone number again and uses back up again.
So basically it's useless.
I have to reinstall every app and move them like normal like usual.
So what's the point of using mi mover?
When I use samsung switch I think I got things moving quickly.
Why the differences?
