I had Revolut on my Redmi Note 8 Pro phone for a while. First when rooted, I used Magisk Hide to get around its security. 2-3 years ago my system started bootlopping and I just went with clean vendor ROM (MIUI) instead. Revolut worked fine on the device until this week. I noticed that it first showed some error that the device can't run the app because of potential security risks, such as rooting, unlocked bootloader, etc. After that it switched to brilliant UX of just showing infinite black screen over and over again. - My phone is **not rooted**. - It still has **unlocked bootloader**. - The ROM is **MIUI Global 12.5.15**. So the only potential culprit is unlocked bootloader, but it has been for years now. I don't want to lock it, nor do anything that causes any sort of data loss. E.g. I know I could go back to root + Magisk Hide, but I don't have time for it now. Revolut support was beyond useless and the only useful thing they told me to do was using some SafetyNet check app, which failed the test, with no details as to why. Other than that, they recommended basic troubleshooting I've already tried, like reinstalling, cache clearing, data clearing, restarting the device, etc. And to lose my data with factory reset, Magisk Hide or anything similar. Other banking apps I have, like mBank and Curve, still work problemlessly BTW. Why did Revolut suddenly decide to cut me off from my money? Is it related to some SafetyNet update? I doubt as it said it's deprecated in the SafetyNet test app? Is there any way to get around it **without losing data of other apps**?

How to reimport exported WhatsApp chats? [iPhone to Android migration]

My friend recently made the decision to switch to Android from iOS. Since she's not particularly tech-savvy, I'm tasked with migrating her WhatsApp data from her **iPhone 7** to her new **Redmi Note 11T 5G** (MIUI 12.5.2, based on Android 11) phone. I've tried a couple of apps that promise very straight-forward WhatsApp chat transfers between iOS and Android through a PC, but the three apps I tried were ridiculously slow, and just randomly failed mid-way after several hours of progress. However, I must note that I did find a couple of chats from 2021, which would've come only through the transfer. But surely, something was wrong if only a couple of chats, that too from 2021, were transferred over several hours. Then I came across [this guide](https://www.androidcentral.com/how-restore-your-whatsapp-chats-iphone-android) which suggests exporting the individual chats from the iPhone, and send it by email to the new Android device. I downloaded the exported chats on the new phone before installing WhatsApp on it. I also made sure the Google Drive backups don't exist. When WhatsApp goes through the setup process however, it can't detect backups in the Google drive at the restore backups screen, and only gives me the option to skip. And when I press skip, it goes straight to the main chats page, and doesn't recognise the exported chats. Should I move these chats to a specific location? Is there a better way to move WhatsApp chats from iOS to Android? This never happened! The "Backup found" page shown in the image on the aforementioned guide never happened.

I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S which has the following behaviour: it works normally until the moment it goes under the sun, then (apparently only) the backlight of the screen is turned off and never turns on again until I restart the smartphone, where it works normally until the very moment it "detects" a bright light like under the sun, then the screen goes black. When this happens, sometimes you can still see the shape of what was on screen, but most times it only goes totally black. When the screen is black, the telephone keeps working normally (music keeps being played, receives calls, vibration responses keep working, etc...(confirmed it using scrcpy and all is working normally)), only that the backlight is turned off and it keeps totally black. During the night, i.e. with artificial light, the telephone works normally (I was able to replicate the error using a strong flashlight above the telephone, the screen also went black the very moment I turned it on). What I tried to resolve: restarted many times, disabled every auto brightness (also one that I think is a Xiaomi MIUI only, sunlight detector, something like this) settings that are in the configuration menu, restarted using vol up + power button. Factory reseted the smartphone. Disabled pocket mode before and after factory reset. Any idea how to proceed? What is killing me is that it seem to be a software issue, like, why the screen don't turn on back after a while, but every time you restart it, or why the phone works all night long (i.e. there no strong light on it)? How to capture the telephone log (logcat perhaps?) and be sure of what is the exact event that is disabling screen? Maybe I can manipulate it to prevent from happening, or to make screen goes back to normal after a while, as I work as a software developer.

Seeing a floating "notification square icon" on my MIUI 12.5 phone - why?

Here I was, just living my life, a happy camper of a MIUI 12.5.1 phone (Mi 9 SE to be specific), and everything was just fine. Well, not exactly, but for the purposes of this question it was. Then, a couple of days ago, I noticed something very weird: The application launcher screens - my home screens - now had a square icon floating over them! It had the icon of a Signal user, and a smaller notification-like icon on its corner... I think it was the blue Signal app logo. When I would press the icon, A Signal (?) screen would come up with the message. I could only kill this window by long-pressing on it, then dragging it to an (x) icon which would appear at the bottom of the screen. But with a new message, it appeared again. For now I haven't gotten any new messages, so I don't know if I'll see it again or not. My questions: 1. Is this the Signal app's doing, or is it my MIUI? 2. What is this "feature" called? 3. How can I disable it permanently and for all apps?

My friend is using a device running MIUI 12.5.1. They have installed some app, and then some kind of magic happened, in which they were told by the device that it would be cleaning up / removing icons of unused applications - even though the app had been used; and the icon went away. Now, they want to restore the icon. The app appears to be installed when examining Settings | Apps | Manage Apps. My friend reports they can't find the icon anywhere, i.e. hasn't just been moved (although TBH when they told me this I got suspicious it's in some folder they're missing). How can I restore the app icon? I've searched the Settings, and have not found anywhere this might be possible; app screen customization also only offers widgets, not app icons.

I uninstalled the **'com.xiaomi.finddevice'** package from my phone and on the next reboot the phone spent 5 minutes displaying the miui logo and then went to the recovery menu on its own.The recovery menu had options for : safe mode(which behaved the same as normal boot),wipe full data(not just the cache part.),reboot,*mi assistant*(which is to connect the phone to a pc using the *MiPcSuite*). I tried the MiPcSuite but it wouldn't discover the device even though windows recognized it as a adb interface.I tried to access it separately from adb but the device was showed as locked. What I was trying to do was to somehow reinstall the package. As far as I could figure out,the device needed to be turned on for me to access it via an adb shell(though usb debugging was enabled and my pc authorized the last time it booted) and fastboot had no such provision. I was apprehensive of trying TWRP as the xda guide called for the bootloader to be unlocked prior to flashing. My device is not rooted, nor is the bootloader unlocked.I'm pretty sure the only thing preventing it from booting is the 'com.xiaomi.finddevice' package being uninstalled. My device is a Xiaomi Poco M2 running android 11 and miui 12.5 Is there any way to reinstall the package or otherwise repair the device so it turns on or at least to retrieve my data.

How can I stop running this app and reduce RAM/battery usage? *(Previously I used Motorola with Moto Launcher. I installed Pixel Launcher over it. And, there I can force stop Moto Launcher, which will start again at next reboot)*

I tried some app and they either showed **move to sd not supported in this device** or **no need to move sd card share the same disk with os**. So, how this works? If i run out of internal storage eventually, next will my sd card be used to store apps? Is there any way to move to sd?

I am using Redmi Note 10 Pro with MIUI 12.5.8 Android 11 running on it. The device has two official application providers, one is Google's Play Store and other is Xiaomi Get Apps. My issue is that, I installed whatsapp from Play Store. Now, it shows that whastapp has an update under Settings-System apps updater-Otherapps, on clicking which will load Get Apps. I checked play store, and there's no update showing. Similarly, for Zoom app, update available both from Play Store and Get Apps. How Play Store installed app got an update from Get Apps?
