Using Apps2SD Pro app on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005, Resurrection Remix Nougat v5.8.5 with Magisk v17.1. I lose the linked apps again & again after reboot. This happened several times already. I tried all mounting script types, including the advanced one, but after several reboots, the linked apps are disappearing (errors attached). See the Storage screenshot, where you can see the sdext2 (labelled as EXT4) mounted by system, instead by Apps2SD. The problem is that the sdext2 partition is mounted earlier than the Apps2SD is started and initialized, so Apps2SD can not mount the sdext2 partition, thus the system loses the installed linked apps. How can I make Apps2SD started before sdext2 partition is mounted by the Resurrection Remix system? <img src=" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy"> <img src=" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy"> <img src=" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy"> (Tap to enlarge)

I've been spending a lot of sleepless nights trying to fix this. I know there are a lot of threads like this on the internet, but I want to go a bit deeper. I have an HTC Wildfire S with only 512 MB internal flash memory. This internal memory has a partition layout allocation around 130 MB for the /data partition and around 290 MB for the /system partition. Both of them are full. (In addition I got a 16 GB SD-card.) Installing apps, upgrading apps, running most of the apps - impossible. Now, I knew it's possible to move apps to SD-card, the so called **apps2sd** procedure which offers very limited functionality to move *some* of the application data to the SD-card. Anyways after moving every possible data to SD the internal memory was still full and the phone unusable. I was reading about more sustainable methods like **data2sd**. I gave it a try. I used the instructions from htcdev.com to unlock the bootloader , I installed the latest ClockWorkMod Recovery and rooted the device permanently. Finally, I used the rooted device to install Android 4.1.2 AOKP Jelly Bean Custom ROM and Data2SD like discribed in the linked articles. But I was stuck the device was not booting until I removed Data2SD. The AOKP-ROM was working pretty well and stable, but installing Data2SD simply did not work in combination with Jelly Bean (SD-card formatting: 11 GB FAT23, 4GB ext4 and 256 MB Swap). Now, I tried to go for the **link2sd** approach. I reformatted my SD-card (14 GB FAT32 and 2GB ext4) and installed Link2SD on my phone as described here . I was able to move additional data and apps to my SD-card and could link some apps to the card. And now after some days playing around with all that usefull tipps from the internet, for example this thread: https://android.stackexchange.com/q/2065/29916 - **I am at the point where I started**. This is my result: Internal memory is still full and the phone is still unusable. (I would love to post a screenshot, but taking screenshots simply does not work currently.) Link2SD and still no space on internal memory! How to finally fix my internal memory on the Wildfire S? Why is Data2SD not working with the Jelly Bean ROM and why is Link2SD so ineffective? Is there anything I'm doing wrong? The main problem seems to be the Dalvik Cache on the /data partition (around 100 MB). Is there any way to completly use the SD card to somehow get partitions mounted at /data and /system?

Here's a small backstory. A relative of mine owns a pretty low end Android phone (Redmi 9T ) running Android 12. They got the 64gb storage variant which, of course, wasn't the best idea since there was a 128gb variant of the phone for not that much more money. It is what it is, the bottom line now is they got a 128gb SanDisk Extreme that is A2 rated and was asking if it can expand their storage. I told them they can only store photos and videos at best on that card, along with some downloaded files but they wanted to also be able to install more apps. I was about to suggest they format the card as adoptable storage but upon looking more into it, it seems to be a one-way ticket without any way to revert back. With that in mind, I don't have any idea how it will affect the system's responsiveness as I've never tried it myself. Based on the specs of the phone that I linked, and the fact that the card is A2-rated, do you think it'll be fine? I've read about some musings on the internet about how A1 rated cards are better than A2 because A2 has more tolerances for slower performance than A1 and A2 relied on certain things the host will do in order to benefit its supposed better performance. However, those discussions happened years ago so now in 2023, has this situation gotten better?

I have a phone with Android 4.4 kitkat and a 32GB SD card on which I had noticed the .android_secure folder was taking up 1.5GB of storage so I decided to free up some storage. There were apps in the folder that I didn't have installed on my phone anymore so I thought it'd be safe to delete them as they were not used by my phone anymore. Many apps also had their creation and modification dates set to a couple days ago instead of the date they were actually installed which I thought was odd. I didn't expect anything to go wrong, but after deleting some asec files and putting the sd card back in the phone, I noticed not a single app from my sdcard loaded. I waited a bit but even after it was mounted my apps weren't there. To my horror when I went in settings and looked under the apps, all my apps were gone. I tried recovering the deleted asec files and putting them back but the apps don't appear anymore. Luckily the asec files only contain the apk files of the app, and the data is stored on the phones internal memory right? How can I get the phone to read the asec files again? Or if I can't get it to load the asec files, can I reinstall the apps and will the data still be kept or is the app data deleted? Lastly I want to know if it's safe to put an sdcard with apps from one phone onto another phone and be able to swap the sd card between the two phones or if that might also cause the phones to reject the asec files?

I purchased 6 months before, Samsung Galaxy s20 Fe with android 12 with 128 GB internal memory and a 256 GB external Micro SD card. I am an IT freelancer professional, so I have a job is for testing 1000's of different apps, and my main work is to install some video photo editing and some technical official apps to do my job in an instant go while traveling. In Android 12.0 of Samsung Galaxy S20 Fe There is an option of CHANGE option in Settings > App> Storage to change (move) location of app from internal to SD card in Android. Screenshot of change moving location But its the same like as in Android 5.0, it only moves the main APK files, leaving data, cache, lib, and dex in internal memory thus occupying space in internal memory. I want to keep my internal memory free for output files of video editing to fast rendering of photo editing or video editing file on mobile. MY QUERIES:- 1. Is there any option without rooting to move the complete apps (lib, dex, data, and cache) to an external micro SD card? apk files 2. There was an option in Android 6.0 Marshmallow for adaptable storage to format an external SD card as internal memory and move complete application files. Can I do that in Android 12.0? Screenshot format as internal 3. there any developer option in Android 12.0 to force or make default installation of apps in the external memory card so that all apps are installed automatically with apk, lib, dex, data file in the external memory card but it works with only 5 to 10 apps out of 100 it still leave some part in internal memory? Screenshot Force install to sd 4. In Android 6.0, I tried to edit the app manifest through the APK editor to change the default install location of an app to external memory. Will it work in Android 12.0? But it's time-consuming to edit every application. Apk editor app manifest 5. Can we root Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and use the Link2SD app or any script in boot.int or any other new application in Android 12.0 which with its script links all lib, dex files in a micro SD card? link2sd internal data 6. Is there any other way or method or settings options in developer options or any other 3rd part application in Android 12.0 Samsung Galaxy S20 FE so that I can move (dex lib apk data) or install complete application directly to external micro SD card and keep my internal memory free for working or output files rendering ? The reason why I still want to move apps to sd Card while having internal memory of 128GB is for testing 1000's apps and editing and rendering short video and photo editing . I know External micro sd card is slower than internal memory but the app I install for TESTING on external memory will be rarely used may 2 or 3 times a year but for testing and reporting to companies i need to keep it installed in mobile for year to give usage or some log reports and its useless to give them space in internal memory and make them full my internal memory i cant uninstall or re-install them .

on a magisk rooted Android 10 device com.whatsapp_preferences.xml ( /data/data/com.whatsapp ? ... can't remember that path now ) has been updated with non default parameters as I needed but it periodically gets overwritten *how to prevent that from happening.*
**what I did so far** even if reMount the partition as read write ( for my convenience I do it using total commander with root though I haven't tried I would assume it would end up the same way if I did it on command line ) it will not let me overwrite the original file with my modifications & but if I delete the original and copy the modified file that is allowed. funny...why 🤔 ? I did this and then chown ( to root ) & chmod ed it to 444 then force stopped the app cleared cache .new settings were working until next day I landed up with the same old file that it overwrote
**question**
now I am aware that for WhatsApp or any app to be able to write it should be the owner or maybe the owner should be everyone .. that is the case here as well but the issue is *how can I selectively prevent it from overwriting just one file* - implement this at file level ? alternatively how do I conceive a method that periodically overwrites the the original file with the one I have... after detecting that it has changed.
btw : my APK and data is linked to to second partition which is ext4 via apps2SD

**Question : How to create Mount script or Link2sd symbolic link in adoptable storage (format microsdcard as internal memory) any help** I have an old mobile with upgrade of Android 6.0.1 marshemellow with 16gb internal memory(11gb reserved for system and only 5 GB free space for user apps and files). I want to make 128gb or 64 GB microsdcard as internal memory. I had changed many apps manifest through apkeditor and changed their default install location. To external still some files are moved and many apps cAnt change the manifest. So to add at least 60gb I decided to move apps and folder redirect dcim download whatsapp Facebook to external micro SD card so that at least 2gb space is always free in internal memory. Now the question and problem is that can I cheat or mislead the Android 6.0.1 marshmallow (without root or with root) through 1. using apps like link2sd or app2sd or folder redirection appps or 2. through SM PM command > adb shell sm list-disks adoptable sm partition disk:179:160 mixed 25 > adb shell sm format private:179,3 3. through creating own symbolic link boot.init script to decieve Android 6.0.1 is and move or link apk files like data lib hex off apk to.memory card 4. Can both adoptable storage (format as sd as internal and the link2sd symbolic link mount scripts) work together as after formatting as card as internal Android assumes no external card and the how will be it work from redirecting or symbolic link to internal folder. I tried Inc it gave "Mount script error" Any way or script if I can write or tell it will be great help for my problem.

About two days ago, I received this notification. At first, I just click on "Change",and in setup, set default storage to SD Card. I'm using Android 4.2.2. But, this is happening in every half hour... I rooted my phone about 2 mounts ago, installed link2sd,and created second partition on my 16Gb SD Card. Both partitions are marked as Primary and both are FAT32. It's worked very well until 2 days ago. When I receive notification about SD Storage, my whole second partition stop working. Every apps on second partition is "unreachable" and I must restart my phone. Do you know how to "fix" this, because, my SD Card is ok,it's seems that android unmount and mount SD Card and show this notification automaticly. EDIT: I forgot to mention, when I format whole SD Card, and delete second partition, this notification is not showing, but, again, when I create second partition, notification is shown on my home screen, and keep asking me to change default storage.

To function, the app needs to download 360 degree video "scenes". The files are relatively large; generally a few hundred MBs. I'm extremely low on space, and it won't let me keep more than one scene at a time. Is there anyway to force the app to store data on the SD card? Alternatively, could I transfer the existing app data to the SD card, so that it could download the new data on internal memory? Will the app know where to find it if I do that? EDIT: Device is a 2014 Moto G (XT1064) running whatever came stock (I believe it's 5.1). Thanks! Evamvid

Question :App2sd link2sd how to show mount view 2nd micro sd card ext2 partition I had loaded twrp recovery (fastboot boot twrprexovery.img) in bootloader mode and installed SU and rooted and then installed app2sd and link2sd apps. I had partitioned my 64 gb memory card 30gb fat32 and remaining 32 gb. As ext2 and then when I tries to view partitions in android 5.1.1 settings>storage it show only one fat 32 partition in sd. Card and not second sd card for ext2 As I want to install 2nd sd card and from recovery or adb pull take NANDROID image backup Of second partition backup in cloud and want to see pace and access file system so that I can recover if any thing goes wrong or memory card got corrupted My queries:- 1. How can I view second partition of external micro sd card partiton through file manager or in setting> storage 2. Can I be mounted In boot.init through any aap 3. App2sd auto created a mount script to run through recovery to mount the ext2 partition how to run it in twrp so I have to run through install 4. How to take NANDROID image backup of system boot recovery internal (userdata partition) and external sdcard 1st and 2nd partitiion and save it in usb drive or cloud storage through adb pull or twrp. Or any other apps how can these files be secured in password or encrypted in cloud 5. As app2sd pro or link2sd plus card link apps and moves lib hex odb files to which files which are randomly access should be not moved to sd card and should be left in internal memory. **types of files to moved app2sd link2sd** ![types of files to moved app2sd](https://i.sstatic.net/XhJ4W.png) ![type of files to be moved link2sd ](https://i.sstatic.net/TRZfl.png) ![app2sd settings linking](https://i.sstatic.net/kzQnb.png) **app2sd eroor mounting script screenshot** ![app2sd eroor mounting script screenshot](https://i.sstatic.net/znPN1.png) ![eroor app2sd mounting script](https://i.sstatic.net/nhbae.png) **link2sd error mounting script** ![link2sd error mounting script](https://i.sstatic.net/MhMt8.png)

**Question :-How to unlock view get app info "Move app to SD card" option locked missing in android 5.1.1?** I have two mobiles of same company with different model **both having same os android 5.1.1** sharing below screenshot of about phone of both mobiles **Lyf water 7 ls 5004 about phone** lyf water1 7 ls 5004 about phone info screenshot photo **Lyf wind 6 ls 5009 about phone** lyf wind 6 ls 5009 about phone info screenshot But one of the mobile model Lyf wind 6 ls-5009 (with 8gb internal memory) is showing "Move to SD card" option in setting apps but another mobile model Lyf water 7 ls 5504 (internal memory 16gb) one is missing locked not showing option for same app "move to sd card" may be locked by OEM. Screenshot of same app settings for both mobile option pasted below. **Lyf wind 6 ls 5009 app info (move to sd card option available)** lyf wind 6 ls 5009 app info screenshot image Image **Lyf water 7 ls 5504 app info (move to sd card missing)** lyf water 7 ls 5504 app info screenshot image Image ** My queries** 1. How to **unlock view or see the same option "move to sd"** in another model lyf water 7 of android 5.1.1 by modifying the settings through any adb shell fastboot or terminal with or without rooting the mobile. 2. I tried app manager III or app2sd or link2sd apps on unrooted and rooted mobile to do the same but all fails to move the apps. All apps when move to sd option clicked they open take me open same dialogue box window to original settings>app>appinfo option to move apps ( as shown in screenshot above) and there no option of move app to sd **Link2sd when app moved to move to sd it gave following error and link to sd is grayed out and disabled and not working (even on rooted phone)** Failure pkg: /data/app/ com.gmail.heagoo.sdcardmovable-1/ base.apk Failure [INSTALL FAILED INVALID_INSTALL LOC ATION] link2sd move to sd card error screenshot Storage screenshot of link2sd of lyf water 7 Image 3. I tried **adb shell pm set-install-location 2** in rooted mobile it's changed succesfully but still apps installed through Google Play Store or apkpure **do not installs automatically to external sd card** they still installing in internal storage not 3. I know all apps are not movable as their app mainfest don't allow I had tried to edit **apk editor default prefered install location to external** still same app without editing the app is moving to sd card in one mobile and no option of moving not showing option in another mobile with same android 5.1.1 same app same kernal version same.company but different models it means there is some setting lock or change how can we modify or unlock that option . 4. Any **more setting I can alter to get the result of moving apps to sd card on my lyf water 7 ls 5504.** Any adb shell command. I don't know if its locked in rom or hardware incompatibility then will 3rd party custom rom available in xda may be android 6.03 or android 7.1.1 or android 8,9,10 will allow or have such option and work in the same mobile or not 5. If there is any hardware or rom uncompatibilty or lock by manufacturer or vendor I am worried if I install custom rom of android 6.0.3 marshemellow or android 7.1.1 then will they have such option or not to move app to sd or to format as as internal in both custom rom ![link2sd lyf water 7 storage info ](https://i.sstatic.net/d6R2Y.png)
