Xiaomi stuck on the fastboot screen after failed EMUI update

Yesterday, I used the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE [Updater](https://adimorahblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Mi-9-update.jpg) app to update my EMUI version. After downloading the update zip file (2.8GB), the app warned me that it would "install the update, start in recovery mode and will ask for my password as the file system was encrypted" (I don't remember the message exactly). The phone rebooted and got stuck on the Fastboot screen for more than a hour. enter image description here After that I rebooted multiple times with different ways (hold power button, hold power button + volume down, and hold power button + volume up and down) but just after the reboot it gets stuck on the Fastboot screen again. I tried using the Android platform tools to try to reboot it but the result is the same, always stuck on the Fastboot screen.
$ sudo ./fastboot devices
f6da2608	fastboot

$ sudo ./fastboot reboot
Rebooting                                          OKAY [  0.000s]
Finished. Total time: 0.351s

$ sudo ./fastboot reboot recovery
Rebooting into recovery OKAY [ 0.000s]
Finished. Total time: 0.352s
Do you have any solution to fix ? If not, is it possible to do a factory reset ? I have backups for my data so no problem for me.

Seeing a floating "notification square icon" on my MIUI 12.5 phone - why?

Here I was, just living my life, a happy camper of a MIUI 12.5.1 phone (Mi 9 SE to be specific), and everything was just fine. Well, not exactly, but for the purposes of this question it was. Then, a couple of days ago, I noticed something very weird: The application launcher screens - my home screens - now had a square icon floating over them! It had the icon of a Signal user, and a smaller notification-like icon on its corner... I think it was the blue Signal app logo. When I would press the icon, A Signal (?) screen would come up with the message. I could only kill this window by long-pressing on it, then dragging it to an (x) icon which would appear at the bottom of the screen. But with a new message, it appeared again. For now I haven't gotten any new messages, so I don't know if I'll see it again or not. My questions: 1. Is this the Signal app's doing, or is it my MIUI? 2. What is this "feature" called? 3. How can I disable it permanently and for all apps?

My friend is using a device running MIUI 12.5.1. They have installed some app, and then some kind of magic happened, in which they were told by the device that it would be cleaning up / removing icons of unused applications - even though the app had been used; and the icon went away. Now, they want to restore the icon. The app appears to be installed when examining Settings | Apps | Manage Apps. My friend reports they can't find the icon anywhere, i.e. hasn't just been moved (although TBH when they told me this I got suspicious it's in some folder they're missing). How can I restore the app icon? I've searched the Settings, and have not found anywhere this might be possible; app screen customization also only offers widgets, not app icons.

I'm using a Xiaomi 9 SE phone, with MIUI 12.0.2 (global). I'm not getting notifications about incoming SMSes! :-( I tried the general phone settings, under Notifications; the slider toggle for SMSes is enabled, but semi-grayed-out - unlike all other notification toggles. I tried the SMS app's own notification settings (through the top-right gearwheel menu) - and while that has a bunch of settings, it doesn't seem to have the basic setting for notifying me about incoming SMS messages. What do I do? Note: I should stress SMS messages do arrive, and the unread ones are marked as such when I open the SMS app.

How can I restore the browser button?
For some magical reason, the browser button on the home screen of my Android phone (Xiaomi MI 9 SE, MIUI 10.2) has gone missing. I can't find it! ... how can I restore/recreate it? Note I'm not talking about a specific browser (FF, Chromium etc) but the generic browser button.

I'm switching from a Xiaomi RedMi 3S phone (Android 6.0.1) to a MI 9 SE which I just got. None of the phones are rooted. I don't have a Google account, nor a "Xiaomi account" - but like any phone user, I have my contacts, history of phone calls, SMS messages, and conversation on various apps, and more generally a bunch of app data. I would like to transfer, or back-up-and-then-"restore", as much of this data as possible; with as little work as possible. Specifically, I'm hoping to be able to back up multiple things at once, or with one tool / method, rather than looking for app-specific solutions for each and every app. But - I don't want to involve Google or Xiaomi in any of this. What would you suggest? Note: * I'm perfectly willing to do command-line work or adapt a script if that helps. * If a reasonable solution requires rooting one or both of the phones, it's a viable answer, but please explain why that's necessary (as, obviously, I've refrained from doing that so far).
