Can I download apps to this iPod Touch 2nd Generation?

I use an iPod Touch 2nd Generation running iOS 6.1.6 to listen to music absent from streaming platforms. But when I go to the App Store and try to download apps, I get the message: ***"Your Apple ID or Password is incorrect"*** I have checked many times and the password is correct. My other devices send me a message that a device is trying to connect but allowing doesn't initiate the download. Has Apple Store access been disabled for these older devices, or is there something I am doing wrong?
