I am using Firefox Quantum (57.0.1) on Bunsenlabs Hydrogen (Debian Jessie with Openbox). For some pages, (namely, Panopticlick's result page), the tab start to load, and crash. All I then get to see is a white page with Gah. Your tab just crashed. We can help! Choose Restore This Tab to reload the page. I ve tried to open the console and reload the page, but it get cleared as soon as the tab crash, and go to about:crashes, but it only seems to only account for full-on firefox crash, tab crash doesn't get reported. At the very least the list was empty for me. I sometime encounter pages that don't work properly, since I use uBlock Origin and uMatrix, so usually, when I really need a page and I can't get it to work in firefox, I just use chromium, but in this case, the whole point is to test firefox, so this workaround just don't work. What can I do to have information on the crash? So I can then attempt to fix the problem myself, or ask for help?

me@toshiba-nb520:~$ xinput | grep TouchPad
SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad id=17 [slave pointer (2)]
But when i try to use xinput test 17, there is nothing.
me@toshiba-nb520:~$ xinput test 17
^C
me@toshiba-nb520:~$
I've tried different solutions, but none have made the cursor come alive ... **Does this mean that the touchpad is broken and will not work?** *The last time I used my computer a few months ago, the touchpad worked on windows and linux. I had to decide to change the system and test the helium because the distributions that I used worked very slowly on this computer. Helium is the first system to run smoothly on that old (----) machine, and I'd like to use it.*

A few months ago I formatted half an ssd (for use by all of my operating systems as file storage, I use os x, Debian, and Microsoft's windows) It was recommended that I use udf, because it is, in most cases, compatible with the operating systems in question. However, I later began getting input output error messages, even when using a file manager to open the drive. rizk@rizk-bl-h:/media/rizk/LinuxUDF/torrents$ ls ls: cannot access 'legal_software.dmg': Input/output error The command then proceeds to list the rest of the files and directories in the folder. I figure, at least I have my files, but when trying to open them it always reads Failed to open directory "LinuxUDF". when getting information for file "/media/rizk/LinuxUDF/kj1WRC3.jpg": Input/output error. Leaving my files un-browsed. However I can open things such as torrent files through my torrent client, I cannot access anything outside of it, and the files in question seem corrupt and broken (for example videos play half through then stop playing entirely). Any ideas? edit: per request, here is the results of smartctl --all https://pastebin.com/GP2a9Gng

I have this machine under BunsenLabs Hydrogen (Debian Jessie pre configured for Openbox) for ~6 month. Was pleased with it and everything worked fine. About 2 week ago, a new linux-firmware-amd64 version came out, and I started to have trouble with wifi after making the PC sleep/hibernate. However, since yesterday, I have no wifi. At all. My first thought was that iwlwifi must have gone corrupt or something, so I reinstalled it, reboot and... nothing. After looking around a bit, I see that wlan0 just stopped existing: drakasan@bld219:~$ lspci | grep Network 02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 7265 (rev 61) drakasan@bld219:~$ rfkill list 4: hci0: Bluetooth Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no drakasan@bld219:~$ iwconfig eth0 no wireless extensions. lo no wireless extensions. Now I m as stuck as I am baffled. How can wlan0 just disappear like that? I would have expected that tw week ago with the kernel upgrade, but not two week later. Also, booting from the old kernel doesn't work either. Kernel: 4.9.0-0.bpo.3-amd64, can boot on 4.9.0-0.bpo.2-amd64.

I validated that I have everything installed: $ sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r|sed 's,[^-]*-[^-]*-,,') virtualbox dkms virtualbox-dkms Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done dkms is already the newest version. linux-headers-amd64 is already the newest version. virtualbox is already the newest version. virtualbox-dkms is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded. (To be upgraded package is openjre-8-headless). However, when I start virtualbox: $ virtualbox WARNING: The character device /dev/vboxdrv does not exist. Please install the virtualbox-dkms package and the appropriate headers, most likely linux-headers-amd64. You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed. Reinstalling everything, reconfigureing everything either. Trying to force the creation of the device fails too: $ sudo modprobe vboxdrv modprobe: FATAL: Module vboxdrv not found. Should I just create the device manually? What other options do I have?

I am trying to install steam on my BunsenLab laptop (Debian 8/Jessie). After enabling multi arch and apt-get steam:i386, I first encountered a missing library error, which I fixed by also installing libglib2.0-0:i386, libgtk2.0-0:i386 and pulseaudio:i386, which were containing the right .so files. However, steam still doesn't work, it start, print the "Downloading update" window at ~40% downloading, and silently crash. Running it in native mode (STEAM_RUNTIME=0 steam) make a new error appear: Error: Could not load module 'vgui2_s.so'. However, I can't seems to find the package containing this library. How can I debug the problem? Or find the right package for that library? *Note*: I had to use the jessie-backport kernel to support my Intel HD Graphics chipset.
