I have AMD Radeon 7400 in my laptop. It seems like dota 2 is not running through my graphic card.
I don't even know whether after installing Ubuntu I have my graphic card driver installed or not. Do I have to manually install the graphic card driver or it is already installed? And if so, how to enable it so that dota 2 runs with some good textures.

Obligatory searched the internet etc. My Debian 11 system cannot install steam via APT. Many of it's dependencies rely on libc6:i386 but APT complains that it is not installable. When I attempt to install it directly via APT, it complains that hunspell-fr (a dependency package) is uninstallable. However the default version of hunspell-fr, hunspell-fr-classical, which the dependency package depends on, is already installed on my system. I've enabled the i386 architecture via dpkg, updated APT's index files and upgraded.I've also tried explicitly enabling i386 packages by passing the [ arch=amd64,i386 ] option in /etc/apt/sources.list. I've cleaned the index file cache and auto-removed orphaned dependencies. All sections are enabled including, contrib and non-free, for the bullseye, bullseye-security and bullseye-updates distributions. nohatsatthetable@debian:~$ uname -a Linux debian 5.10.0-19-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.149-2 (2022-10-21) x86_64 GNU/Linux All help is appreciated! . I got a used desktop from work and wanted to put debian on it.I did and then I wanted to install Steam.I did that. Now here is where the dumb part starts. I have had this exact model of desktop before and that one had an nvidea graphics card. I assumed that this was the same. I installed the driver and tried to boot steam. I got "opengl glx extension not supported by this display". I got suspicious and opened my desktop up. It wasn't nvidia. It was nothing. Only the integrated intel one.I tried uninstalling the nvidia one. No luck. So my question is, How do I fix this so steam will run at least until I buy a graphics card? Is it possible to make a window believe that it has a focus while it has not? My use case description: I am playing a game named Detroit Become Human. I am playing with gamepad. The game is actually an interactive movie. It has a very complicated flowcharts. I want to see other scenes that I missed after my original walkthrough. I am reading the walkthrough guide in a browser and switching to game very often and want to see flowchart in a game. Because the flowcharts are very complicated, I need to keep lots of tabs in browser, constantly scroll pages up and down trying to read descriptions for some nodes. And I get really annoyed that I constantly need to refocus a game itself to be able to control it (even with gamepad) and press alt+tab to release mouse from the game. Also, the game makes me rewatching lots of scenes that I already have seen and I want to do some other readings while such scenes are playing. Also, there are scenes with minor interactions, but still I need to focus a game window for them. I wanted to make it easier. I want the game to be controllable by gamepad while its window not in focus. I thought that I need to capture a gamepad input and redirect it to inactive window. And that thing was what I wanted originally to ask. However, I have noticed, that chromium while not in focus is still able to see the gamepad input by using this web site: https://gamepad-tester.com/ . This means (as I think) that all windows have access to the gamepad input. Now I think that the problem is the game itself. I think it checks if it is in focus, and if not, it do not interprets the input. I want the game to always interpret gamepad, even when missing focus. Is that possible? My system details: Arch Linux. Game launched via steam. Tried with Steam Input and without it. KDE Plasma. Logitech F710 Gamepad in XInput mode. The game launched in borderless window mode, also tried fullscreen and windowed. Additional info. This trick may be useful not only for games (which often pauses when not in focus), but also for applications. For example, DaVinci Resolve hides a window with effects parameters. I am watching a tutorial video on youtube in browser. When I focus a browser, I cannot see my parameters window to compare it with such on a youtube. Tricking the DaVinci Resolve that it has focus (while still disabling keyboard input for it) may solve this.

How can I use my external harddrive and install games onto it? The Drive itself is in perfect condition. I tested installing Steam games onto it with other operating systems. I tested on Windows 11, Linux Mint and Ubuntu. It worked on all of them, but on SteamOS, it doesn't want to work. --- Does anyone know why it doesn't work or how I can get it to work?

The game still doesn't work, as far as I was able to find out it has trouble loading libsteam_api.so which I can't find a fix for too. The game has few launch scripts, and when launched with one it generates a .dmp file, running file shows the file type as: Mini DuMP crash report \* found old discussion on steam which suggested that my gpu just isn't fast enough, but I'm still going to try and fix it

I've gone ahead and installed Steam (flathub) from the Discover Store on KDE Neon, and I have a Steam Icon on my desktop. What I want to do is set it to run with my dedicated GPU. So I right-clicked and chose Properties: Right Click Steam on KDE Neon Then I went to the "Application" Tab and chose "Advanced Options". There I enabled "run using dedicated graphics card": Steam run using dedicated graphics card on KDE Neon Linux But when I save this, then I get an error popup that looks like this: Steam Properties: Could not save properties due to insufficient write access > Could not save properties due to insufficient write access to: /home/shaunroselt/Desktop/com.valvesoftware.Steam.desktop. But how and why? This is my PC. Why would I not have the sufficient write access? --- There is also nothing useful under the "Permissions" tab as those permissions aren't editable: Steam Properties - Permissions Tab --- How can I get the necessary write access so that I can change properties on Steam?

Consequently, I want to capture a stack trace (using gdb), so that I can report this crash to [bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Fedora](https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Fedora) . (It's not a duplicate of [/show_bug.cgi?id=6900#c6](https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6900#c6).) Preventing me doing is so, is that, incredibly, it does not crash when invoked via bash (in konsole): ~~~bash #!/usr/bin/env -S bash steam ~~~ That inability to make it crash in the shell is why I'm unable to debug the source of it crashing, because the undermentioned is of no use: ~~~bash #!/usr/bin/env -S bash DEBUGGER=gdb steam ~~~ **Attempted Solutions** Consequently, I have attempted to add the diagnostic information to its .desktop file. To demonstrate what I have modified, by default, its content is the undermentioned: ~~~desktop [Desktop Action BigPicture] Exec=steam steam://open/bigpicture Name=Big Picture [Desktop Action However, their solution is irrelevant to mine, because I've no NVIDIA hardware.

I followed the instructions in this post to disable my Steam Deck's display when in Desktop Mode which is basically the following: > by going into settings > display configuration > device (laptop screen) > unchecked enabled & primary But now my issue is: How do I re-enable it again? The display doesn't show up in the display configuration settings anymore. I see other people in that same post from above are also having the same issues where they don't know how to re-enable the display after disabling it. --- This is what I see in my display settings: SteamOS Display Settings I only see my two external displays. My Steam Deck's internal display isn't here anymore after I've disabled it. So I don't know where to find and enable it again. --- How can I turn my Steam Deck's display on again when in desktop mode?

I encounter internet connection issues only while playing video games (Tekken 8 and VRChat, GTA V online works fine). Outside the game, the internet connection is normal and stable even if it is running but the game itself have trouble connecting to the internet. In Windows 10 they work fine. Behavior: - Tekken 8: slow loading speeds when internet is connected and disconnections when the match is over. Demo works fine. - VRChat:Worlds and avatars downloads are slow, they stop at a certain percentage or they don’t even start (stays at 0%). I have tried: - Disabling the firewall - Changing to Proton Experimental, hotfix and GE Proton - Add gamemoderun %command% and HOST_LC_ALL=**_**.UTF-8 %command% in Launch Options - Updating packages and rebooting the computer - Changing DNS from Google’s to Cloudflare’s Hardware: - TUF GAMING B550-PLUS as motherboard - Ethernet connection - RX6600 as Graphics Card Edit: Proton's log produced by PROTON_LOG=1 Steam.log Edit 2: Issue also reported here Tekken 8 Unable to Connect to Other Players

Using debian 12, kde 6 My intention is to use my pc as streaming platform for two, meaning that 2 game instances will run at once. First gaming session will run directly on the pc itself, and the second one, running at background, will be redirected to laptop to control the second game instance from there. Current configuration I got is 2 steam clients running at different kde sessions (TTYs) under different users. Second session is streaming to laptop via Steam Link. The problem is, after I launch the second session and switch back to the main session, the stream to steam-link-client-laptop stops immediately, meaning the session or steam process are freezing. Is there a way to keep 2 graphical TTY session running simultaneously?

I have a script to backup game saves from the Steam Deck to a network drive. It works perfectly when I run it on its own. However, when I configure it to run as systemd service at startup, for whatever reason it refuses to read a csv file needed to configure the script. Again, this ONLY happens when run as a service. The service WILL work if I change the current directory in the script to the directory of the csv file (also where the script is located), but then on my next reboot it causes my samba network drive mount to break for some reason. I'm so confused and frustrated, please help. CODE SECTION IN QUESTION:

This is set up as a user service, not a system service. I'm not sure if it is possible or advisable to create a system service on SteamOS.

Relevant specs from neofetch: OS = Linux Mint 21.1 x86_64 / Host = H310M H 2.0 / Kernel = 5.15.0-72-generic / DE = Xfce 4.16 / CPU = Intel i5-8400 (6) @ 4.000GHz / GPU = NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti / Memory = 2381MiB / 15944MiB Footage of the issue with mangohud (top-left): **I have had this issue across a few linux distros**, some would cause a system-wide stutter and others would have drops in frame rate such as in the video. The one thing these cases had in common was that I would always observe the CPU usage going up as it occurred. These drops in performance have always happened at intervals and are consistent throughout all gameplay, lasting around 20 to 30 seconds, then operating normally for the same length of time. With mangohud enabled on my game I saw that **the CPU usage went up as the GPU went down**, which leads me to believe that this might be some hardware related issue. The weird thing is that when I first installed this OS, the problem seemed to have disappeared, now it's back. This makes me unsure if this is really hardware issue or software related. This happens with every game I play now, be it on Steam or a different launcher, using proton / wine or a game native to linux. Interestingly, when playing the game Deep Rock Galactic and observing the task manager, the CPU usage went from 10% to 60% for the Steam app instead of the game itself. I'm not sure what that means. How can I determine if this issue is caused by hardware or software? Is there a solution? I can share more information if it is needed. **EDIT:** I have already tried changing the driver version. I've used the nvidia drivers 530, 515 and 470, same problem on each one. I have also tried changing the shader pre-cache settings on Steam. I actually had *another 1050 Ti GPU from an older computer*. I put it in my computer and it ran a bit worse than my newer one but *the frame rate problem still persisted*. I also removed the GPU completely and ran Minecraft on **integrated graphics**, *the problem persisted still*. As far as I can tell, this problem doesn't occur while playing on Windows.

Since updated 1.24. the game produces performance issues on Linux. I run the game with one of the latest versions of Proton via steam due to the fact that I've already had an wargaming account before the game released on steam store. I searched through protondb for my issue and I found the WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY launch argument workaround. But It didn't solve my problem, the game still drops my fps from 100+ to below 20 every 5 seconds. I asked about on the wot discord server and the wot subreddit, they told me that my config is really outdated for it so it's of course the game stutters, but the problem is not related to my rig even tho I myself admit it's really old but I could play wot without any performance issues on medium settings around january this year. Honestly, I really don't know what to do with this. Is there any other fixes or workaround I can try to solve my problem? I'm starting think it's dead end. My config: - OS: Zorin OS 16.3 64bit; https://zorin.com/os/ Zorin OS 16.3 is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS compared to Zorin OS 16, which was based on Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS - CPU: Intel Core i5-6500 3.20 GHz x 4; Intel Ark - GPU: AMD Radeon R7 370 - RAM: 24 GB (DDR3? / DDR4?) Resources: - Minimum / Recommended system requirements list page - Official documentation on running WoT on Linux - Wine lists a Platinum result in testing 1.x (2018) version - Proprietary AMD graphics Linux drivers for Ubuntu 22.04 based OS P.S.: Sorry if this place is not the right one for my issue, but I tried many subreddits to post my question, and none of them managed to make a proper answer for it.

HoloISO/Archlinux Running pacman -Syu(u) results in the next boot becoming an endless black screen

One is related to consolefonts in the mkinitcpio file. I've just been removing that element from the file and it doesn't seem to result in further problems. Another set of warnings relates to the AUR packages mentioned here https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Mkinitcpio#Possibly_missing_firmware_for_module_XXXX . I've been installing them after the first -Syu and then re-runnign -Syu afterwards to check if they need any packages. However, every time I install upd72020x-fw, it always comes empty. I have no idea why or what effect this has. The last set of warnings mention permissions being different on the system than the package apparently wants. I've tried pre-empting these by manually changing the permissions using chmod to the numbers stated, but that just makes other packages warn about differing permissions. I've tried running -Syu without the extra packages, which leads to the same result. I've been saying yes to all of the "replace (package) with extra_main/(package)5" requests. If I do need to say no to them every time, is there a way to do so without having to type n for each? The system works fine if I don't use -Syu, but that limits what I can do with it severely. I want to do something really simple: make an ISO image that boots directly into Steam Big Picture with persistence. I know this kind of thing is possible because of Recalbox, which does something similar. I've been trying several distros, and all of them have the same issue: the live version can only be accessed after an annoying "try or install Linux" popup. Even in server versions of distros, there's often not even an option to run it in live mode. I can set up my own x server stuff to make this happen, so if there's a way to run a server Linux distro live without any install wizard, I could get this to work. I understand that stock SteamOS might do something similar, but SteamOS 2 is largely outdated now, and SteamOS 3 is not available as a separate distro (all the links to it currently point to the Steam Deck recovery image, even on the site that says "Not for Steam Deck"). I know there are tools like Linux Live Kit that would supposedly do this, but this needs to run on a Ventoy drive with multiple ISOs on it, so I cannot use their tool to fill up an entire drive. If anyone knows a distro that works like this, or how to disable the install script in existing distros, that would be appreciated.
