Is there any way to install Wine on a ARM cpu chromebook (Debian 10 Buster)
I've tried to install Wine on my chromebook but I continued to get an error message. Did some digging and realized ARM CPUs can't run that. I did more research and seem to be going in a loop. I was told that using Box64 could be a solution. I'm lost can anyone shed some light on this?

I use a wineprefix for music production and some plugins require DXVK while others have problems with it. Ideally I could separate them, but currently that doesn't work and I set this up before I knew about bottles so it grew without me knowing to separate. Not that bottles is particularly well suited for music production... Anyway, what I would like to have is some sort of button or script to switch DXVK usage on or off, pretty much like you do in bottles. I'm willing to script myself, but I have no idea how to script anything for a wineprefix. So far I could only find ways to entirely uninstall DXVK from a prefix, which is not what I want. I doubt it is relevant, but I'm on Arch, KDE 6, wine 10.12.

I am using macOS 10.14.5, and I am trying to run a Windows exe file.  So I did brew install wine.  Then, using wine to run the program yields the following error:
0009:fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" (6.0.0.0)
My wine can run some other exe programs. Because of this, I thought I needed to install mscomctl.ocx and comctl32.ocx into wine. I copied the files from my Windows 7 computer to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ and added the corresponding overrides to the "Libraries" tab in winecfg. But I still got the same error. I tried another way of installing the two files.  I did brew install winetricks zenity, and ran sh winetricks dlls.  The GUI appeared, but it did nothing no matter what I clicked.  Also, whenever I clicked anything on the GUI, it outputs to the shell the same message
Gtk-WARNING **: Could not load a pixbuf from /org/gtk/libgtk/theme/Adwaita/assets/bullet-symbolic.svg.
This may indicate that pixbuf loaders or the mime database could not be found.
So how should I install OCX files to wine? "An OCX file is a Windows ActiveX control file."

During the installation, the installer tells me that Directx9 is not found and necessary to run the game: enter image description here After a long search on the Internet, the solution would be to use Winetricks and install the library, however it doesn't work, it seems to be obsolete: enter image description here It suggests me to install instead each component individually, which I tried to do (still with Winetricks) by installing all the dlls related to Directx9, but it doesn't change anything, some of these libs are also obsolete. How to install Directx9 under Fedora, for Wine, in order to play to League of Legends?

I've been trying to use MusicBee on my arch with wine, and I'm facing a weird problem I didn't expect. When I try to create a Library (which is basically writing a file and creating folders as far as I know), I get the following error : Error saying I can't access the folder where I wanted to create the Library It doesn't seem like wine limits access to mounted drives, so I have genuinely no idea what the problem is. Does anyone have any idea? EDIT: I went to the path to check 3 things : - I can write/create files there through other apps (file explorer for example) - The problem doesn't come from having spaces in the name/folder (tried with underscores too) - MusicBee/Wine actually manages to create the folder and a .ini file inside of it, so the problem comes after that, which is even weirder Other people seem to encounter this problem on full Windows, so maybe there is a solution I haven't found yet. https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=28550.0

And then is stuck in this loop for quite long time. Sometimes days, other times it finishes as quick as 10 minutes. I am guessing this is an os-wine compatibility issue. When run,it shows this

Let's take as an example the following simple call to the Windows API: Exec (cmd /k python --version) It opens an empty console; however, Exec (cmd /k python --version >out) correctly writes "Python 3.12.3" to the file "out". I have found no way to directly write to console. What is needed? Note. I wish to use the python interpreter existing in the Linux installation, not a version loaded in the wine environment, thus python -in the example above- is a symbolic link to /usr/bin/python3.

I run a Windows command line program (that I can not make accessible) with wine. It apparently writes something to stdout and I'm trying to capture that output, but I can't redirect it. No matter if I redirect stdout or stderr to a file, the program output is still printed on the console and is not written to the file. When I redirect stderr, the wine output goes away, but the program's output is stilled printed on screen. wine program.exe > out # File is empty, program output printed on screen wine program.exe 2> out # Wine output gets redirected to file, program output still printed on screen If I redirect both, the output is neither printed on screen nor written to the file. **Edit:** On Windows, behavior is similar, but when redirecting both, everything is still printed on screen. Here are some examples with the complete output. $ wine program.exe fixme:winediag:start_process Wine Staging 1.9.23 is a testing version containing experimental patches. fixme:winediag:start_process Please mention your exact version when filing bug reports on winehq.org. output by program.exe fixme:msvcrt:__clean_type_info_names_internal (0x100aaa54) stub When I try to redirect the output, this happens: $ wine program.exe > out 2>&1 $ cat out fixme:winediag:start_process Wine Staging 1.9.23 is a testing version containing experimental patches. fixme:winediag:start_process Please mention your exact version when filing bug reports on winehq.org. fixme:msvcrt:__clean_type_info_names_internal (0x100aaa54) stub I.e., the program's console output is completely missing. The program still works fine and writes some files it's supposed to write. As a check, I did the same with pngcrush, and I get what I'd expect. I know what you're thinking "This is just a repost", but just hear me out. I am sure I screwed up somewhere during the uninstall process. So what I did was : Install "Vroid studio" using wine. Then I realised that steam's proton does a better job in running this app in linux. So I decided to delete the wine version of VRoid and install Proton's version of VRoid. I thought I deleted it, but it just stayed in the menu. Without deciding to look it up, I deleted all the files of VRoid from the install directory, then uninstalled again. No results. Then, after searching for some answers here, I found that wine has an application called "uninstall wine software" in the menu. But I think I also screwed up somewhere during wine installation because I don't have it. Then I also found out that you can run the app using terminal. I open it and when I press "modify/remove" I get an error message saying that the app has no files associated with it. It gave me an option to remove it from the entries. I did so. But surprise, **It's still there**. It's just like become permanent. Wine can't even remove it. I tried deleting via the menu entry, still no results. I use a linux mint.

The Bottles (Wine) CLI (bottles-cli) is not passing arguments to the program it runs ("run" option). In the example below, the Notepad++ program does not receive the arguments -multiInst -nosession 'Z:/\some/\file/\path/\file.ext'...
-sh
bottles-cli run -p notepad++ -b notepad++ -- -multiInst -nosession 'Z:/\some/\file/\path/\file.ext'
**Would this be a bug or something I'm doing wrong?**

For example, I've application (game) that has only 640x480 resolution. Now I've 2 options: launch it in window-mode, and will has 640x480 size or enable fullscreen and will fill all screen. What I want is to resize application without going fullscreen (e.g. to 1024x768). As for now I've tried 2 solutions: 1. Enable 'Emulate a virtual desktop' in winecfg. At first it will launch desktop with that resolution, but when I enable fullscreen in application it will shrink that desktop to 640x480. 2. Start Wine in inner X-server: Xephyr -ac -br -noreset -screen 1024x768 :1.0 & ZEPHYR_PID=$! sleep 1 DISPLAY=:1.0 wine game.exe kill $ZEPHYR_PID Same problem here, it will resize window when I enable fullscreen.
