I also installed OpenGL 32bit libraries, which were required by PlayOnLinux, but the problem is the same.

I use Linux Mint 22 and have Rollercoaster Tycoon Deluxe from GOG. I could install it with playonlinux and right after installation, the game could can be started. So I did it and could play and even save games. But when I quit the game (or do not start it right away after installation), there is no entry in my list. Even if I do wine RCT.exe in the folder where it is installed to, it starts, but without sound. Only if I install it again and then start it, I can play. What can I do?

Very often, when a ntfs external drive cannot be mounted in Linux because of some more or less obscure motive, simply plugging it onto Windows fixes it, even without running the tool to scan and fix errors. I often get those errors because I have many such external drives full of stuff around that I often use (please don't ask me to avoid ntfs: I do when I can). This has become my main reason for having a Window system installed somewhere. But I wonder: could Wine/Playlinux be used for the same purpose somehow? Couldn't that repair tool be installed in Wine?

Okay, so I recently installed linux Mint and I'm trying to install Microsoft Office 2016. I try the solution witn Play on Linux. First I ran into some problems (PoL couldn't finish the download) but I fixed that by putting the .exe-file into the PoL "Ressources"-folder. That seemed to allow PoL to download the file and to install MS Office, however I then ran into a new problem. MS Office generated the following message: enter image description here .....And after that PoL generated its own error message, claiming that something might be wrong with the program. How do I fix this? Can I somehow make PoL convince the office file that Iäm actually running Windows 10 or higher? I'm aware that there are other threads discussing the installation on office on linux, but I didn't see any of them addressing this particular error message. If this stackexchange does not accept this kind of questions then please point me to somewhere that does. Stackoverflow apparantly does not, and askubuntu regards questions dealing exclusively with Linux Mint as Off-topic.....

I'd like to install a very old version of Wine (2.18)... So, instead of compiling the Wine source code, I'm trying to do it with PlayOnLinux. On its interface, we can choose among different Wine versions: enter image description here However, the result of the command wine --version on my terminal is:
wine-6.0.3 (Ubuntu 6.0.3~repack-1)
I'd like to access the command line of Wine 2.18 that I've installed on PlayOnLinux interface, not the Wine 6.0.3... I'm not sure if I understood how PlayOnLinux works... Is it possible to do this using PlayOnLinux? Or I'm supposed to use Wine only from the graphical interface when I use PlayOnLinux? --- **Additional Information** I'd like to use Wine from the command line because the Windows tool that I'll run is also a command line. I know on Wine we can execute exe files directly from the command line, but playonlinux doesn't have many options on the terminal, that's why I'm assuming there's a way of accessing its Wine somehow...

enter image description here I have a separate question on how to install Playonlinux in eOS - and there an answer that led to installing Playonlinux but without Wine at system-level. When restarting Playonlinux, it says that Wine is not installed, although inside the program itself I have installed different versions of Wine enter image description here But a separate system-wide installation of Wine is needed I think, as it is the case when Playonlinux is installed from Synaptic etc. My opinion is that Playonlinux needs Wine at system level and that it normally installs it automatically as such. (Now Playonlinux installs without Wine, but that is abnormal in my opinion, given the circumstances presented in the linked question.) Is this true? Without a Wine at system level I get the errors reported in the update to the linked question. But I will not discuss those here, just want to know if Playonlinux is supposed to have Wine installed at system level or whether it can work without that (just with the Wine packages and versions installed from within playonlinux and placed in ~/.playonlinux/wine).

I can neither print from both Word and Excel, nor save document as PDF. Each time I try to do that, I get an error saying no printer is installed. It used to worked earlier. I do have one network (WiFi) printer installed - it is Canon Pixma MX885 with linux drivers downloaded and installed from official website. I can print files from linux programs without any problem, as well as other windows apps installed on PlayOnLinux, but Microsoft Office does not detect the printer. What might be the cause? Is there any way to get it working?

An alternate title might be: PlayOnLinux LOTRO install: Open Store In External Browser Fails This question concerns a Linux installation of Lord Of The Rings Online using Wine 5.2 in a PlayOnLinux virtual drive in a KDE Plasma desktop. The host system is a 64-bit Mageia 7 installation. The game is generally rock solid, and the in-game store is usable, but only if opened in an external browser rather than the in-game browser. The only GUI browser installed is FireFox. Normally, clicking the in-game LOTRO Store link auto-opens FireFox in an authenticated session that is automatically linked with the LOTRO account being played at the time. This has worked for years. All of a sudden, but probably after system/browser updates, the LOTRO Store no longer opens, and instead, a dialog pops up: Error -- KIO Client [X] Could not connect to host www.lotro.com: SSL negotiation failed. [ OK ] Restarting the game client, restarting FireFox, and restarting the computer do not have any positive effect. It is not clear how to troubleshoot or correct this issue. Digging returns: # journalctl -xe | grep -i KIO Oct 08 22:56:03 obfuscated.domain.tld plasmashell: Could not find service for job "Job 1" with app name "org.kde.kioclient" Oct 08 22:56:03 obfuscated.domain.tld plasmashell: Could not find service for job "Job 1" with app name "org.kde.kioclient" Oct 08 22:56:25 obfuscated.domain.tld plasmashell: Could not find service for job "Job 2" with app name "org.kde.kioclient" Oct 08 22:56:25 obfuscated.domain.tld plasmashell: Could not find service for job "Job 2" with app name "org.kde.kioclient" Oct 08 22:56:25 obfuscated.domain.tld plasmashell: Could not find service for job "Job 2" with app name "org.kde.kioclient" Oct 08 22:56:25 obfuscated.domain.tld plasmashell: Could not find service for job "Job 2" with app name "org.kde.kioclient" Oct 08 22:58:23 obfuscated.domain.tld kde-open5: kf5.kio.widgets: KRun(0x68b600) ERROR (stat): 123 "Could not connect to host www.lotro.com: SSL negotiation failed." For the most part, as long as I can remember, game client updates do not affect stability or usability of the game. A raft of OS updates was applied within the past week or so, but as one does not necessarily open the store every time one plays it could be a bit difficult to pin down what might have changed at the time it stopped working. I started posting this on Arqade, but then reconsidered as it seems like primarily a Linux desktop environment issue more than a "game" issue per se, though no trouble using FireFox for other more traditional browser usage occurs, and, in fact, one can browse to other https sites on the www.lotro.com domain with no issue. One cannot directly open the LOTRO Store link however. The game client does something that one is unable to do manually; this is true whether or not the in-game store browser fails or not. Helpful thoughts on how to debug KIO Client issues could be appreciated along with any wisdom one might provide about how one might go about troubleshooting and getting to the bottom of what might be wrong. plasma-desktop-5.15.4-1.mga7 kio-5.57.0-1.mga7

People at my institution keep sending me Office files from time to time. Sometimes Powerpoint presentations, sometimes Excel sheets or even Word documents, and I have to edit them. And no, Libreoffice is not 100% compatible. When they get my edited version back they usually say: What the f**k did you do with this? It's all messed up!! I have a limited license to one of the MS Office products and my options are either a Playonlinux (Wine) installation or using it inside a virtual machine. The Wine option is nice. However I remember from my old times as Windows user that some sorts of viruses could arrive inside Excel macros (this was back in the times of Windows NT Workstation 4, so things might have changed, I don't know). Hence my question: since a wine program has full access to my home, how should I manage the **need** (please avoid the unreal and unacceptable "Libreoffice is fully compatible" which I myself would love to be the truth but it isn't, thanks) to install MS Office in my laptop while staying safe from viruses? Should I restrict the MS Office programs to a virtual machine with read-only access to anything outside it, and after each use erase the full machine and import it again from an image? Or am I safe having those MS Office programs installed by Playonlinux (Wine) without any antivirus software and with full access to all files in my home? Why?

Originally my system was on 8.0 and now it's 8.6 but this latest version does not support all playonlinux requirements to run 86x_64x applications, then I'd like to know if it's possible to safely do a downgrade to my old version 8.0. Ps: I did nothing with the repositories except adding jessie-backports to sources.list and performing: >sudo apt-get -t jessie-backports dist-upgrade After that my kernel was also upgraded as well my /etc/os-release status to Debian Jessie 8.6. Ps2: Would be great to keep my current Os and Kernel versions and also have my playonlinux 32 bits software working, but, if not, going back to my old system version is ok too. Sorry if this topic was already answered in another question, but I've been searching for that and haven't found it.

It still works with all the other programs I have installed under WINE such as 7Zip and CPU-Z. The native Linux version of Steam works fine. Any idea how to fix this or what's going on? Edit: It worked fine before the reboot.

Is it supposed to be like this? I meddled in the source code but I couldn't find where the path is set to see if there is an extra slash or what.

I think wine-staging is a development branch of Wine but I don't know about winehq-staging. winehq-staging needs and installs wine-staging in order to work, but I don't think Playonlinux installs winehq-staging and **that** may be the problem. --- Having that in Playonlinux would be an advantage because of the easier of using different Wine versions for different programs, as gtk theming may not really represent a progress for all windows programs.

**What I wanted to do**: Play MotoGP2015... **What I tried to do**: I installed the game by using an ISO FIle and using PlayOnLinux for the .exe. **The PleyOnLinus crash problem**: I double click on the launch icon but POL crashes without providing any valuable information for fixing the problem. **Game requirements:** * MINIMUM: OS: Windows Vista SP2 / Windows 7 SP1 / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 * Processor: Intel Core i3-530 @ 2.93 GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 850 @ 3.30 GHz * Memory: 4 GB RAM * Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 @ 1GB / ATI Radeon HD 6790 @ 1GB* * DirectX: Version 10 Hard Drive: 30 GB available space * Sound Card: * DirectX compatible Additional Notes: * Laptop versions of graphics cards may work but are not officially supported. **Recommended**: * OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit / Windows 8.1 64-Bit * Processor: Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.4 GHz / AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz * Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 / AMD Radeon R9 290X * DirectX: Version 11 * Additional Notes: *Laptop versions of graphics cards may work but are not officially supported. **My OS**: * NAME="Linux Mint" VERSION="19 (Tara)" 4 * Language : Spanish **MY LAPTOP**: * HP 250 G6 Notebook PC * Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz Core Count: 2 Core Enabled: 2 Thread Count: 4 64-bit capable Multi-Core * Intel Corporation HD Graphics 620 **What happened step by step:** 1. I downloaded the MotoGp2015 ISO FILE on skidrowcodex.com /motogp-15-pc-codex-torrent-download/ , It is about 20 Gb. 2. I installed PlayOnLinux by terminal: playonlinux is already a newer version (4.2.12-1) 3. I installed WineTricks by terminal: winetricks is already a newer version (0.0+20180217-1) 4. I installed the msxml6 using WineTricks. (I needed it for running another software). 5. I created a mounting folder named mnt/isomgp2015 for unpacking the ISO FILE of MotoGp2015 by terminal. 6. I mounted the MotoGP2015 .iso file as follows: root@mau-HP:~/mnt/isomgp15# mount -o loop /home/mau/Escritorio/ISOMOTOGP15/mgp.iso /home/mau/mnt/isomgp15/ mount: /home/mau/mnt/isomgp15: ATENCIÓN: el dispositivo está protegido contra escritura; se monta como sólo lectura. Where /home/mau/Escritorio/ISOMOTOGP15/mgp.iso is the location of the ISO file and /home/mau/mnt/isomgp15/ the destination of the mounted iso. (I am asking myself if the ATENCIÓN warning can be a problem?) 7. I run the .exe file on PlayOnLinux First attempt MotoGp .exe on PlayOnLinux and got this message: runtime error 229 and I discover that the cause is because PlayOnLinux is running as Windows 7 as default windows version. Runtime error 229 8. I then run the .exe file again in PlayOnLinux selecting Windows XP version and the install program launches! (it also launches with vista version) PlayOnLinux second attempt by XP Install wizard launches game successfully installed **See all files installed in the list below** 9. I followed the steps through the installation wizard and created some shortcuts on desktop. ShortcutsPlayOnLinux 10. I copy-pasted the dll and other files for activation in the folder in the picture using PlayOnLinux following the website instructions from where I downloaded the ISO file (that works in genuine windows 10 environment). [![DLL and other files for crack]]Referenced image]Referenced image 11. I launched the shortcut and Pol_WIne crashes and game does not start. Pol_Whine crashes I also tried to install directX but that did not work.
