So, I am basically a Linux user and just hop onto Windows whenever I want to play games or anything stupid. Most of my games now actually run when secure boot is enabled but as I am using Kali already as my main and working OS.
So, is it possible that I can enable secure boot and when I am done using Windows I restart disable the secure boot and run grub boot loader which is by default right now? Or will it cause errors? I don't know how to properly signed os right now.

When I check my speed on fast.com, it shows around 7–10 Mbps, but whenever I actually try to download anything (like using wget, apt-get, or browser), the speed drops to around 1–2 Mbps or even less. Sometimes it’s just in KB/s.
Here’s what I know:
* Same Wi-Fi connection gives full speed on Windows and mobile.
* No VPN or proxy is being used.
* Happening on both terminal and browser downloads.
* Using built-in Wi-Fi adapter on a fresh Kali install.
What could be throttling the real download speed on Kali? Is it a driver issue, DNS problem, or something else?

Since I have problems with my Internet connection I'm not able to always run command
apt-get install xdotool
in Terminal, so I would like to download the **xdotool** package manually from website in .zip or .deb format and then install it manually every time I need it. (I'm using Usb Live Kali Linux 2016.2-amd64 and every time I reboot it deletes all files).
I've tried to download xdotool from https://github.com/jordansissel/xdotool at the right side in green box "Clone or download" there is option download ZIP. After that I extract all files in Home folder and then open it in Terminal.
in README file there are instructions like this:
> See the website for more up-to-date documentation
> http://www.semicomplete.com/projects/xdotool/ or the manpage listed
> below.
>
> Compile: make
> Install: make install
> Remove: make uninstall
>
> You may have to set 'PREFIX' to the location you want to install to.
> The default PREFIX is /usr/local
>
> For packagers, there's also support for DESTDIR for staged install.
I type in make
then make install
and it always outputs me this error:
root@kali:~/xdotool-master# make

compilation terminated.

What I'm doing wrong?
Can you suggest me other methods of installation of xdotool (but without Internet connection)?

Hi all,
I just installed Kali Linux and ran:
sudo apt update
But I got this error:
GPG error: http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/kali kali-rolling InRelease:
The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 827CB569F2518CC677FECA1AED65462ECB5E4C5
E: The repository is not signed.
I also saw warnings about apt-key
being deprecated, and attempts to use curl | gpg
returned a 404.
---
**What I Want:**
I don’t care about using the Tsinghua mirror — I just want a clean fix using the **official Kali sources and keys**.
---
**What I’ve Tried:**
* Replacing the mirror in /etc/apt/sources.list
with the official Kali one.
* Using the modern gpg --dearmor
method to import the official Kali archive key.
My sources.list [I copied it from chatgpt, its not the default one]
# See https://www.kali.org/docs/general-use/kali-linux-sources-list-repositories/
deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/tuna-kali.gpg] http://mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn/kali kali-rolling main non-free contrib
# Additional line for source packages
# deb-src http://http.kali.org/kali kali-rolling main contrib non-free non-free-firmware
Thanks in advance!

I bought a wireless adapter Realtek 8812BU Wireless. It came with a small CD for the driver but since I don't have a CD-ROM I looked for the driver on the Internet.
After a few searches, I managed to install the right one on my Windows 11 machine, it appears as WI-FI 3 on Windows. So everything works as expected so far.
The problem is that I couldn't find a way to install a driver for my Kali Linux Virtual machine. The adapter is getting recognized by the VM but when I run ifconfig it doesn't appear so I asume I dont have a good driver.
Sorry if my problem seems trivial, I'm new to networking and also to linux.

Leveraging ProxyChains when SSH Tunneling requires some set up, and im curious about the why aspect

Given information: I have root access to a machine on ip 1.1.1.1 and open up port 22.
Instead of having to log into the machine again through an exploit to get root access AND to not install apps onto their machine (If i created a reverse shell on the machine, it could get detected), figured to try a new approach; port forwarding and proxy chains.
The idea I had was to set up a tunnel to the webserver and just forward the information along in order to start mapping out the internal network. I stumbled across proxychains, which is as simple as configuring the port, say 8080 in its conf file, then running commands:
proxychains ifconfig
and then proxychains nmap --script=discovery $ip
There seems to be some configuration needing to be done before you can use Proxy chains and this is where I think *why?*. I will append below.
So, firstly as root access on the webserver, I will open port 22 and make a user with admin permissions, say *jakefromstatefarm*.
Then I will from my attacking machine do the following:
ssh -f -N -R 2222:127.0.0.1:22 jakefromstatefarm@1.1.1.1
# Enter password for jakefromstatefarm
ssh -f -N -D 127.0.0.1:8080 -p 2222 atkMachineUser@127.0.0.1
# Enter password for atkMachineUser
Now I would use proxychains on port 8080 by editing the conf file
proxychains ifconfig
My question which confuses me is why do we need to set up these sets of tunnels prior to? Is it because of the required user credentials to speak to the different machines? That way, the machine will maintain the credentials and then from there proxychains doesnt need to maintain anything?
I was confused because i was not sure why I couldn't in theory set up proxychains to use port 22 to talk to the webserver at 1.1.1.1 directly and run its respective commands.
I am trying to make sure I understand SSH Tunneling correctly.
I read a bunch of information, wiki pages and books, and while i vaguely understand some concepts, i dont have a warm and fuzzy quite yet. That being said, Id love it if someone could explain it to me like i am 5, or well, with less mumbo jumbo.

I've been attempting to perform an SSL strip MITM attack with my Rasberry pi 4B 4GB running kali Linux. after loading all the required modules in better cap and navigating to a website without HSTS on my target machine I'm not seeing the traffic show up much less the login credentials.
Commands I'm entering:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward ...
bettercap -iface wlan0 ...
set https.proxy.sslstrip true ...
https.proxy on ...
set arp.spoof.targets (Target IP) ...
arp.spoof on ...
net.sniff on ...
I should also mention that bettercap is frequently and continuously detecting and then losing new endpoints. I've tried navigating to the website on my target machine while it's detected the right endpoint and before it loses it to no avail. I've been able to use arpspoof and urlsnarf to successfully monitor HTTP traffic before in my MITM attack without SSL strip.

Every time I boot into Windows (11/10) on my dual-boot system, the GRUB entry vanishes from the UEFI boot menu. I reinstall GRUB from a live Kali USB, and the entry comes back. Then I reboot into Windows, and—poof—it's gone again. Even mounting the EFI partition shows no GRUB files.
**System Details:**
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M DS3H
BIOS Version/Date: American Megatrends International, LLC. F2, 22-03-2024
Distribution: Kali Linux (UEFI install)
Disk Setup: NVMe drive with GPT partitioning
EFI partition: FAT32, mounted at /boot/efi
Windows: UEFI install, Fast Startup OFF, Bitlocker OFF, Secure Boot OFF
**What I've Tried:**
Reinstalled GRUB using:
sudo grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=kali
sudo update-grub
Checked and modified UEFI entries with efibootmgr; GRUB shows up but disappears after rebooting Windows.
Disabled Windows Fast Startup, Secure Boot, and Bitlocker.
Mounting the EFI partition shows no GRUB or /EFI/GRUB content after disappearances. After mounting the EFI partition /dev/nvme0n1p1, in a live system I see only the /EFI/Microsoft folder. /EFI/kali or grubx64.efi is completely missing.
What is removing the GRUB entry/EFI files?
Is it Windows itself, firmware updates, or something else?
How can I make the UEFI entry for Kali persist through Windows boots?
Are there any EFI tweaks or BIOS settings I’m missing?

- 'stty sane; bash'
- '/bin/sh'
- 'reset'
- changing the terminal from qterminal to gnome-terminal
- use tmux
- restarting / rebooting the lab and my host
- I've tried seq 1 100 output in ssh and exit (worked) but I cannot do it if I have interactive session in the ssh
- of course I can use seq 1 100 in my host machine
That's all that I've tried, are there any other data that I should provide in my host machine? I cannot provide .profile and .bashrc of the server machine because I cannot do stdout that much of line and I also cannot transfer it (I really don't understand why).
In the same time, I've asked the support lab team, hoping that they answer me in no time.
Any Idea or approach that I should try on?

I tried to search for "keyserver kali linux" and such, but nothing fit my problem except the one regarding ubuntu. Therefore I do want to try the command from the ubuntu forum .
I would also appreciate if an explenation on why it is a given that xxx keyserver is used and how I would have gone about figuring which keyserver is for my distro.
