If I want to make a link to a local pdf-file I put the file into my scrdir and use the usual wikilink syntax. However if I put only a symbolic link into the scrdir instead of the actual file, it doesn't work. Is there a way to make that ikiwiki handles symbolic links in this situation?

I'm using the Pentoo installer and it's asking me to select a profile.
I believe the "amd64" profile will compile software from source. The "binary" profile will instead use precompiled binaries created by the Pentoo developers. And the "bleeding_edge" option will compile from the upstream project? (i think)
My question is: **is there a wiki or manual (command line tool) I can view to better understand how Gentoo/Pentoo profiles work?** I'm looking for something that really details what each profile is and how it affects the OS.

Yesterday, [Debian removed Mediawiki from its stable distribution](https://www.debian.org/News/2016/20160604) :
Removed packages
----------------
The following packages were removed due to circumstances beyond our
control:
+-------------------------------+--------------------------------------+
| Package | Reason |
+-------------------------------+--------------------------------------+
| lyz | Depends on to-be-removed zotero- |
| | standalone-build |
| | |
| mediawiki | No longer security supported |
| | |
| mediawiki-math | Depends on to-be-removed mediawiki |
| | |
| zotero-standalone-build | Unusable in jessie |
| | |
+-------------------------------+--------------------------------------+
As I read it, this means *"If you are running Debian stable, as of _now_, you will know longer receive security updates for mediawiki. So drop what you are doing, look for an alternative, and do it quickly, or you'll get pwned."*¹
As we all know, running a commonly-used web application without security updates is like leaving your front door unlocked and going on vacation. So, are there any alternatives if you want to run mediawiki *securely* on your Debian server? I looked for alternative repositories but, unfortunately, [jessie-backports does not contain mediawiki either](https://packages.debian.org/search?suite=jessie-backports&keywords=mediawiki) .
The only alternative I can think of is to go back to the dark ages of system administration (before stable/LTS Linux distributions were invented), subscribe to the mediawiki-announce mailing list and install *every. single. security update.* manually. As you can imagine, I'd like to avoid that.
So, is there any alternative for us poor Debian stable users? Some MediaWiki fork which is still supported? Some reliable third-party repository?
---
¹ Please correct me if my interpretation is wrong. I'm surprised that they'd do something like that in the stable branch without at least *some* warning in advance, so that people can look for alternatives, but I understand that there might be circumstances beyond their control which lead to such situations.

I need to set up a wiki for our engineering group; we are part of an Enterprise-wide Windows Active Directory domain. Most of the corporate IT applications use NTLM to authenticate (automatically via Internet Exploder); while I'm not part of corporate IT, I recognize that Single Sign-On (SSO) is important for user acceptance.
I am hoping to find a free and open-source wiki that is well-tested and can be hosted on linuxSee End Note 1, while allowing corporate windows laptops to automatically authenticate without a password prompt.
I have seen some hacks to make [moin](http://moinmo.in/) authenticate with NTLMSee End Note 2, but I don't know how well this would actually work in practice; so any deployment experiences with moin + NTLM would be valuable. I have also seen [FOS Wiki](http://foswiki.org/) , but [FOS Wiki doesn't seem to have support for automatic login](http://foswiki.org/Support/Question690) .
Question:
---
In short, I am looking for the best free, open-source, linux wiki implementation with native, automatic NTLM authentication supportSee End Note 3; I give bonus points if it can use [Markdown](http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/) or [reStructured Text](http://docutils.sourceforge.net/rst.html) .
End Notes:
1. If I felt like running this under Windows, I could use [Screwturn wiki](http://www.screwturn.eu/) ; however, the thought of hosting web services on windows makes me feel all dirty inside.
2. See [this post on wikimatrix](http://www.wikimatrix.org/forum/t51-ntlm-support-windows-authentication)
3. If such a thing even exists

How can I get a working owncloud server with a working dokuwiki? The dokuwiki entries should not be destroyed...
On a raspberry pi an owncloud installation was made following this article (nginx php5-fpm php5-sqlite php5-gd installed; owncloud.vhost created and linked; owncloud extracted -> /etc/www -> chmod www-data; nginx service started; reboot). However, we did a dokuwiki installation using a howto (german) with these steps:
cd ~
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php5
wget http://download.dokuwiki.org/src/dokuwiki/dokuwiki-stable.tgz
tar xfz dokuwiki-stable.tgz
sudo mv dokuwiki-2014-09-29b /var/www
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/dokuwiki-2014-09-29b
After that we followed the instructions of
http://IP_OF_PI/dokuwiki/install.php
As far as I remember, there were failures in the
sudo apt-get install
. However, those were at points were services had to be restarted. We did this afterwards by rebooting the raspberry pi.
Now we are able to use our dokuwiki, but not our owncloud. However, before rebooting we were able to access owncloud with https://IP_OF_PI/owncloud
. I never got it to sync with other clients so far, but upload of files and access with a browser on other machines was possible.
When we do a (necessary for installation of owncloud)
sudo /etc/init.d/nginx start
the output is
Starting nginx: nginx: [emerg] bind() to 0.0.0.0:80 failed (98: Address already in use)
nginx: [emerg] bind() to 0.0.0.0:80 failed (98: Address already in use)
nginx: [emerg] still could not bind()
nginx.
The output of
raspberry ~ $ apache2ctl -S
is
/usr/sbin/apache2ctl: 87: ulimit: error setting limit (Operation not permitted)
apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.1.1 for ServerName
VirtualHost configuration:
wildcard NameVirtualHosts and _default_ servers:
*:80 is a NameVirtualHost
default server 127.0.1.1 (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default:1)
port 80 namevhost 127.0.1.1 (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default:1)
Syntax OK
I do not understand what the dokuwiki installation changed so that the nginx is not startable/restartable anymore...

I am looking for a new wiki software for a small private network. Since all users are very addicted to emacs, it would be nice to make everything "emacs compatible". What wiki software is most suitable for emacs users?
In particular it should be possible to navigate in the wiki inside of emacs (follow links etc.) and have a good mode which supports the wiki syntax perfectly.
It's also important to be able to save changes in emacs easily (perhaps even save changes before committing it to the wiki).
The wiki software should also meet other requirements, so it woul be nice if you could give multiple suggestions for a good emacs integration.
