So when watching a YouTube video on my Fedora machine, the sound will cut out, and then a few second later a white loading circle will appear on the video. I suspect a related problem might be that when I try to listen to spotify, a similar problem arises where it says "The Current Song Cannot be Played" for every single song. These problems seemed to have cropped up since I moved the machine to a new office, so could a change in network cause them somehow? I also have noticed significantly increased lag. Relevant details: Browser: Chrome Headphones: Bluetooth (any) OS: Fedora 27 Thanks! UPDATE: I was able to fix my problem by reducing the number of bluetooth devices (wireless usb mouse, needed to use a wired keyboard, as for some reason even the wireless usb keyboard was causing issues.) and moving my tower so that it had a direct line to my headphones without going through my desk.

I prefer streaming Youtube videos via mpv, mpv https://www.youtube.com/watch?v= However, for long videos sometimes the audio breaks down in the middle, leaving error messages like > [ffmpeg] tls: Error in the pull function. Restarting the video is starting it from the beginning. How can I either directly in the command line start from, let's say, minute 30, or alternatively jump in the mpv interface to minute 30 *without* pressing 30 times the up button (which also has issues if done too fast)? I haven't found an answer related to that issue in the man page. Is it possible at all? Also alternative suggestions for streaming are welcome.

The official tutorial https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/StreamingGuide uses the -pix_fmt yuv420p option. I used it too, copied it from the tutorial, and streaming from FFmpeg to Youtube works for me. However, it is not clear what it is for, and especially if it is a necessary option with Youtube, or if there is a better one. The Youtube documentation on the subject doesn't seem to cover this, or maybe it does but I haven't understood where: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en . Does anyone know of any accurate documentation on this?

Ignoring HTTPS certificates with an HTTP address or [a --no-check-certificate](https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/337958/error-downloading-youtube-video-using-youtube-dl) also fails. The same YouTube link and syntax worked a few weeks ago. I upgraded to the latest version, 2020.03.01, and still have the same issue. Is anything the matter between YouTube and youtube-dl?

Is there a utility that can search YouTube from the command line, and then either **view** or **download** the search results according to user input? $ youtube-search madonna 1 Madonna - Hung Up (Official Music Video) madonna ♩ 180M views 9 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDwb9jOVRtU "Hung Up" by Madonna from Confessions On A Dance Floor, available now. 2 Madonna - Like A Prayer (Official Music Video) madonna ♩ 69M views 9 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79fzeNUqQbQ 2006 WMG Like A Prayer. etc. And then you can enter: - "v1" to view video 1 (with VLC, etc.) - "d1-3" to download videos 1-3 (with youtube-dl, etc.) - "n" to view next page of search results What I tried so far: googler works partially with YouTube, but for some reason only shows two search results when searching for "Madonna". Also there is not the choice between view and download. youtube-dl has a search function, but doesn't seem to print the search results nor accept user input. youtube-dl -j ytsearch:madonna lists metadata about search results, but doesn't seem to contain the video link, title and description that would be desired.

Suppose you fear you could meet someone who will threaten you with death. Assuming the bad guy won't destroy your handheld (for example an Ubuntu Touch device) on sight, a barely decent form of protection would be to have your phone continuously stream its microphone to a remote server you do not have access to, programmed to publicly upload the recorded audio content on a popular YouTube channel on a regular basis, unless a circle of neutral, trusted, physically unavailable people for the threatener do not cancel it if nothing happened. I want to know how to do that.
