Show a persistent flashing indicator on Motorola for messages or calls even when on standby

Motorola doesn't have a flashing persistent indicator on standby for messages or calls. This was an excellent old feature. You could see the light across the room and didn't need to physically pick up and click buttons on your phone. If the device doesn't support it natively, is there an alternative to show a persistent flashing indicator?
