I have a custom ROM on my S3, but that shouldn't really be the issue here. I am on JB 4.2.2.
With my custom ROM I am able to set up different colors of the LED notification for each app that I want. However, this works for every single app I get notifications for except for Instagram. I still get the notifications for Instagram, the LED just doesn't light up when I receive them or they are still sitting in my tray. For Twitter I had to change the settings in the app itself to allow the LED to work, but for every other app, it has been default once I added the settings in my custom ROM. Instagram seems to be handling notifications a little bit differently from the other applications, because it doesn't wake up my phone when I get a notification either.
But, I have a desktop application that shows me a pop-up on my computer when I receive notifications on my phone, and it notifies me for every notification, even Instagram.
I want to know if there is anything that I can do within Instagram or maybe somewhere in the phones settings to enable the LED to light up when I receive a new notification from Instagram.

I have Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge on Android 8.0 Oreo (
). Until yesterday, application notifications were flashing on the LED indicator, but from yesterday to today it stopped happening, even though nothing updated on the device.
It warns that it is charging with the red LED, and it warns when it has finished charging with the blue LED, but it does not flash to notify that there are new notifications as it used to do.
I checked if LED it's enabled, and yes it is.
I already checked if the applications are activated, yes they are.
I checked if it's in DO NOT DISTURB mode, and it's not.
I haven't changed any settings from yesterday to today, however, this is happening.
What can I check to try to find the problem?

Samsung S7 unresponsive with blue light slightly pulsing

My Samsung Galaxy S7 is completely unresponsive for day and a half, black screen, only blue LED is shining with a slight pulse. According to [this guide](https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/what-do-the-notification-light-colours-mean-on-my-samsung-galaxy-smartphone/) , it means "the device is turning on or off". For a day and a half already!
So I tried this advice:
> Press and hold the “Power” and “Volume Down”
> buttons for eight to twenty seconds and the device will eventually
> turn off.
Then I tried [this advice](https://forums.androidcentral.com/ask-question/992633-galaxy-s7-wont-turn-wont-force-restart-blue-led-solid.html) :
> Try pressing and holding Power and Vol Down for about 30 seconds, then
> wait a few seconds, then press and hold Power again for another 30
> seconds.
Then I tried different sequences [as advised here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP4sD3AAWEA) :
> up+power 20 secs
> down+power+home
> up+power+home
Nothing worked. Charging didn't help. Before this happened, my phone was gradually slower and slower in the last month, until it became super slow, as I [asked here](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/247038/what-to-do-when-phone-is-super-slow) . Some time before the freeze happened, I also removed the SIM card and micro SD card from the tray. Now I put back the SIM card, the system still stuck.
PS: 10 minutes after the key combo attempts I noticed the battery and display is heated. Interesting.
PS: after 2.5 days the battery finally died and the blue light stopped pulsing. I charged it a little, but now it doesn't even turn on. No response whatsoever.

I hope this collection of questions on Android's "notification light" are not too generic.
Also I hope it's OK to bundle them.
Anyway, here they are:
1. Is there an API to "replace" a physical notification light by an app, i.e.: make the app "forward" events directed towards the notification light (that is actually absent), also meaning that any other app controlling the notification light would be redirected?
2. Should a current phone have a notification light (assuming Google makes hardware guidelines for phones)?
My old Huawei Android 7/8 phone had a triple LED (I guess red, green, blue) that could be controlled by apps like signal to light up in different colors (it's also used by the system as well, e.g. to indicate a low battery), but my current Oppo Android 12 AMOLED phone has none any more.
Somehow I miss it.
3. I noticed that when the camera is in use the display "emulates" a green notification light, so I thought the notification light might be emulated to be used by other applications as well, but seemingly it isn't.
Or is there a setting I need to enable that emulation?
I also noticed that I can "control" the function of the non-present notification light in some apps, but it does not seem to have any effect.

I moved from Samsung Galaxy S6 to Samsung Galaxy S10e, and found out that there's a fundamental functionality missing:
There are no indicator lights (AKA [LED light](https://ux.stackexchange.com/q/85184)) for different cellphone states.
This means:
1. No indication lights for new notifications (in Samsung Galaxy S6, it's e.g. blue light for messages, white light for Whatsapp messages, and so on).
2. No indication lights for charging state (in Samsung Galaxy S6, red light is for charging or battery below 15%, green light is for full charge).
I'm looking for an app that compensates this unfortunate lack, with one important requirement:
It should work even when "Always on Display" functionality is off - as it was on Samsung Galaxy S6.
Is there an app that enables this?

There're a few forum post which claim to explain how to enable it, but don't.
The Fairphone has Android 9, updated yesterday.

This morning, my Nexus 4 (Android 5.0.1) had some issues about Google apps crashing. I decided to do factory reset, so I went to Settings and apply factory reset, it was showing power turn-off, then it has not been started again. I tried to plug charger and everything but nothing is worked out.
Now, when I plug it to wall USB charger or laptop USB charger, I can't see any charging icon. I tried to hold down power + volume down buttons, but nothing happen. However, when I hold power + volume down buttons and plug it to any charger, it shows red notification light which blinks for 10 seconds. Releasing the buttons made the light go off.
Tried below solutions, but nothing worked for me till now:
1. Put it charging more than 2 hours.
2. Checked solutions from https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/39548/red-notification-light-on-nexus-4-wont-power-on-device-unresponsive too, but no success.
3. Checked this Deep Hibernate solution from here
4. Also tried XDA developers solution
Any other possible solutions?

Somehow none of my notifications seem to trigger the flashing white LED on my Moto G5 running Nougat.
On my past Android phones I remember the white LED to be a convenient way to know I had something waiting for me (e.g. a missed call or a whatsapp message) especially when my phone was placed a bit far away.
Is there some global setting I must enable for the white LED to be active?
e.g. I checked Whatsapp and its settings do show "Light->White" as enabled under notifications.
Anything else I can check?
PS. Is the White LED setting granular? i.e. Can I control which notifications trigger the white light?

Customize notification led color without app
How can you customize the color of the notification LED (i.e. specify the rgb value) without using an app? Does this require rooting? And if it does, what setting would then be used to do this? Is there a way to manually control it? For example make it color cycle on demand for a neat effect?

I cant personalize the LED notification settings. For example WhatsApp has no access to the LED control.
I've tried many apps like light manager and others but without success.
I've seen other P2 phones where the LED control worked properly, so I guess it should work somehow.
Has anyone an idea how I can fix this problem? Possibly without root.

I recently got a new Phone (BQ Aquaris X5 plus) and with that a new Android Version (Android 6). Before that I had another BQ Phone, but running KitKat. I'm missing a way to disable the vibrations, but still enable the Notification LED, so to be able to put it on the table without the loud vibration. The best option would be a separate setting, but if there's some way to get that with using the do not disturb mode it would be fine also.
If I enter the do-not-disturb mode, it doesn't activate the LED, if I allow priority notifications, it still vibrates.
I also found that someone advised to just turn down the volume once more after entering vibration mode, but thats triggering the do-not-disturb mode.

1. What if I set my LED notification frequency to high (like the light will pulse faster)? How much would that chew off my battery?

(I know LEDs are supposed to be durable, but the phone switches them off-on for a reason.. I guess.)
What I'm looking for is a generic answer, like "it's not noticeable", or "a couple of percent drop".
