Currently i'm stuck in grub script for dual booting chromeOS provided by guide to install chromeOS since it's freezing during boot here's the script provided by the video guide, and here's the partition i got from my laptop. my laptop got 2 ssd, the first ssd divided into 2 partition (c,d letter), and the 2nd ssd also divided into 2 partition (e,f letter), and chromeOS installed in f letter. since chrome based in linux some people said i've should use /dev/nvme0n0p1 instead /dev/sdaX based on the original script guide.

I found how to do it on normal computers with GRUB, but it is Chromebook, so there is NO Grub.

I installed ChrUbuntu on an Acer C7 Chromebook , and I am able to dual boot Ubuntu 12.04 and ChromeOS and to control which OS loads by default. I tried to edit the /etc/default/grub file and did run update-grub successfully but saw no effects. I was trying to enable a "dmesg" style verbose system loading screen instead of the quiet splash screen (during the Ubuntu boot). I suspect that GRUB is not the bootloader on the machine or is functioning as a fairly late secondary bootloader only on the Linux partition. I realize that the Chromebook is a fairly closed system tightly controlled by Google, but since it is Linux at heart people may know the answer. I don't need the "dmesg" style verbose boot badly enough; but did became curious about the bootloading on this system. P.S. Just to clarify, I was trying to enable the verbose loading screen on the Ubuntu boot on the machine.

I recently got a dell chromebook 11. I promptly installed crouton. then croutons had sound errors so I uninstalled it and decided on chrubuntu. It worked until it a lot crashed as Well. Finally I decided to reinstall crouton again only to get this error (This crash was received during the end of the croutons install process, it repeats every time the installation occurs) gzip:unexpected end of file tar: Child returned status 1 tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now Failed to complete chroot setup Unmounting /usr/local/chroots/precise this has proceeded to pop up during every attempt of installing croutons.

Can I change my ChrUbuntu install over to Arch Linux on a Samsung XE500C21 Chromebook?
I installed ChrUbuntu 12.04 on my Chromebook (Samsung XE500C21). Is there a way to swap my distro over to Arch ARM? Failing that, is there an easy way to install Arch ARM on the SSD of one of these Chromebooks? Is my only option to build and sign my own kernel?

I have Chrubuntu running on an Acer c710. It seems like most people had Bluetooth working right away. I Am having a problem with it. The Bluetooth manager allows me to turn the adapter on and off, but I can't connect to anything. If I search from my phone I can't find the computer. If I search from the manager I can't find my phone, my headphones or my home stereo. I have tried the default manager, blueman and bluedevil extension to KDE. Nothing works. I know people have had this problem with the Realink card and have fixed it by going into Windows and turning it on there but there is no option to turn it on in Chrome OS. Besides, it's not a Realink card. I opened it up and the card says Atheros model #: ar5b22. It's a combo wifi Bluetooth card. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On this new client I'm running ChrUbuntu with kernel 3.4.0 (Kubuntu 12.04) on an Acer Chromebook. I installed nfs-common. However, the mount command returns the error mount.nfs4 no such device. And # modprobe nfs returns Fatal: module nfs not found. Google didn't offer me any solutions. The mount command is like: sudo mount -t nfs4 -o _netdev,noatime,auto,rw myserver:/home/user/shared /home/user/mountpoint The modprobe command is: sudo modprobe nfs And nfs-common is the latest version from this release's repo: 1:1.2.5-3ubuntu3.1

A little context: I recently installed Arch Linux on a chromebook through a bizarre hack in which I used an install script to install Ubuntu and then overwrote the Ubuntu rootfs with an Arch rootfs. I'm not sure what the mechanics are behind this (like this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Acer_C7_Chromebook) . Is the part of Linux that runs before chrooting into rootfs common to all Linux distros (and that's why the initial boot worked for both Arch and Ubuntu)? Or, to be more general, what pieces of software are common amongst all Linux distributions, i.e. define a Linux distribution?
