How can /proc/sys values be changed at boot (sysctl.conf does this on normal Linuxes)?
How can `/proc/sys` values be changed at boot? `sysctl.conf` doesn't exist on Android and echoing values to the `proc` files isn't persistent.

Nexus 7 (2012) Omni 6.0.1 Install failure

I was trying to follow the instructions at http://www.teamandroid.com/2016/01/20/install-android-601-omnirom-nexus-7-2012-marshmallow-custom-rom/2/ , which walk through downloading omni-6.0.1-20160115-grouper-HOMEMADE.zip, copying it to the root of the sdcard storage, and using clockwork recovery module to wipe the device and install it. I ran into a problem when trying to install the ZIP file downloaded from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960685419 (which I was able to successfully select). An error is reported: > ApplyParsedPerms: removexattr of system/bin/backuptool.sh to 0 failed: > Operation not supported on transport enpoint Subsequently a Status 7 failure causes the installation to abort. The failure happened quite early (fortunately?) so I am still able to reboot and use the freshly wiped device, but I'd like to install this ROM because 2012 model Nexus 7s are notoriously unusable on Android 5.1.1, which is the latest OS formally available to them. How do I get past this? The page I was following was supposedly specifically for the 2012 model of Nexus 7, which I have, so I thought this should have worked. *Update:* Looking at the updater-script, I suspect this is the line that's failing, but I don't know enough about the design of this package or alternate ROMs to understand whether the problem is in the script or somewhere else: set_metadata("/system/bin/backuptool.sh", "uid", 0, "gid", 0, "mode", 0755, "capabilities", 0x0);

A few months ago I rooted my android phone which went all fine. I then accidently uninstalled my operating system. Finally I managed to flash omniROM on my device which was as good as it got for me. The only problem is that I am not rooted anymore. My boot loader is unlocked but no root. When I run the usual commands on my computer (Mac) it just says access denied at the finish. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Also when I go on root checker on my phone it says. ACCESS DENIED. not rooted properly

I'm trying to run OmniROM on Android Emulator but I'm facing some problems. Really, I'm able to build the nightlies (homemade) without problems and run the standard Android "vanilla" that comes with SDK, but I just don't know how to boot OmniROM on Android Emulator. I created an avd with Nexus 5 configurations, I copied all img files in out/target/product/hammerhead to ~/.android/avd/hammerhead.avd/ but when I run the emulator all I get is a black screen (monitor shows device offline). I also tried to run make in ~/android/omni and then open emulator, same black screen and device offline. Could someone point me the right direction?

Well hello, I have a really troublesome and strange problem. Point is, I cannot play any video. Litterally NONE. Any type of video presented in ANY app cannot play, including advertisements. Running Android 4.4.4 omnirom, but as it doesn't appear in the omnirom bugs my guess is I did something wrong in my system: Have developer rights, so anything could have gone wrong. Any thoughts on this? Preferably not directly call 'factory reset' ^^ UPDATE: Well, ok, I was wrong, it was a bug in Omnirom: On an older version of Omnirom it worked 'fine' (with it's own bugs, but still). Probably going to try another ROM in the near future, maybe something more stable. At least thanks for your time everybody who gave ideas! :)

How to root my Omnirom using Multirom?
I have Omnirom installed on my Nexus 4 inside Multirom. How should I root my Omnirom then? Problem is that the OS on which Multirom was setup always gets stuck in a bootloop for a reason not known to me. So I use other ROMs by getting them installed on my Multirom. How should I root my Omnirom then?
