How to find out which unicode codepoints are defined in a TTF file?
I need to automate a process of verification which Unicode characters have actual glyphs defined for them in a True Type Font file. How do I go around doing that? I can't seem to find information on how to make sense of the numbers I seem to be getting when I open a .ttf file in a text editor.

I would like to create a Docker image using Alpine Linux and LibreOffice to render PDF documents. The LibreOffice source documents are using Microsofts Times New Roman font. How can I install Microsoft fonts using apk on Alpine Linux? Is there an equivalent packet to Ubuntus apt install ttf-mscorefonts-installer? **Update 1:** Meanwhile I have found a package called msttcorefonts-installer that seems to provide what I am looking for. When I try to install it on Alpine Linux 3.7 using apk add msttcorefonts-installer-3.6-r2 I get the following error: ERROR: unsatisfiable constraints: msttcorefonts-installer-3.6-r2 (missing): required by: world[msttcorefonts-installer-3.6-r2]

This font is not installed as a "system font" on my current computer, but I understand it should be found there as part of the texlive-fonts-extra package. The CTAN mentions that ['OTF or TTF available'](https://tug.org/FontCatalogue/allfonts.html) ; I know LaTeX wants the fonts in a different format - but to be sure, should I be able to register Venturis ADF that comes with TeXLive so it can be used in regular Gnome applications such as Inkscape? If yes, how; if no, where do I find the official TTF sources of Venturis ADF (rather than downloading from a random shady "free fonts" website)?

Is there a way to print Runes as characters? - At StackOverflow

Everything went smoothly except for GTK3 that partially ignores ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini file which looks like this *(I used Lxappearance to modify it)*: gtk-theme-name=Breeze gtk-icon-theme-name=breeze gtk-font-name=Roboto Medium 10 gtk-cursor-theme-name=breeze_cursors gtk-cursor-theme-size=0 gtk-toolbar-style=GTK_TOOLBAR_BOTH_HORIZ gtk-toolbar-icon-size=GTK_ICON_SIZE_SMALL_TOOLBAR gtk-button-images=0 gtk-menu-images=1 gtk-enable-event-sounds=0 gtk-enable-input-feedback-sounds=0 gtk-xft-antialias=1 gtk-xft-hinting=1 gtk-xft-hintstyle=hintfull gtk-xft-rgba=rgb Option gtk-font-name=Roboto Medium 10 is completely ignored by all GTK3 applications which continue to use their default font Sans 10 while option gtk-font-name=Monospace 10 works. Other options like gtk-button-images=0 also work if I change them and restart GTK3 applications. So what can I do to be able to use Roboto font in GTK3 applications inside my Openbox window manager? Roboto font works for GTK2 applications in ~/.gtkrc-2.0. It looks like gtk-font-name="Roboto Medium 10" *(mind the quotes which should be avoided in GTK3 configuration file)*. Roboto font also works for QT4 and QT5 applications and was applied using qt5ct... So only GTK3 is making problems for Roboto fonts...

I installed a freeware .ttf font on my FreeBSD-11.1 workstation where I use Mate as the GDM. The font was installed by copying the .ttf file to /usr/local/share/fonts/TTF and running fc-cache -vf. The font name shows up in the fonts available drop-down menu in LO. However, if I select an entire line and change the font to the newly installed one then the line simply disappears. If, instead, I select a sub-string of a line then the font displays the text, but in a very, very tiny font size. Have I missed something in installing this font?

Can't install Arial.ttf from Windows / Arial is "Arial Narrow"

I use Arch Linux, and have followed the wiki pages regarding [Fonts](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fonts) , [Font configuration](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Font_configuration) , [Microsoft fonts](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Microsoft_fonts) and [Infinality](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Infinality) . However, it seems something is wrong with the Microsoft fonts. I copied them over from a mounted **Windows 10** installation. I first copied the fonts from C:\Windows\Fonts to another place (in Windows), as cp was giving me unsupported reparse point errors on a lot of files. I counted the number of files, there were more than 300. Using fc-cache -rv, only **217** fonts were detected. The problem is most noticable to me as Arial resolves to Arial Narrow. That looks like crap: Arial narrow I checked all my font config files thrice, there are no rules that substitute Arial with Arial Narrow. The Arial.TTF font is simply not installed: fc-list | grep -i 'arial' | cut -d':' -f 2,3: /usr/share/fonts/WindowsFonts/ARIALN.TTF: Arial,Arial Narrow /usr/share/fonts/WindowsFonts/ARIALNB.TTF: Arial,Arial Narrow /usr/share/fonts/WindowsFonts/ARIALNI.TTF: Arial,Arial Narrow /usr/share/fonts/WindowsFonts/ARIALNBI.TTF: Arial,Arial Narrow /usr/share/fonts/WindowsFonts/ARLRDBD.TTF: Arial Rounded MT Bold /usr/share/fonts/WindowsFonts/ARIALUNI.TTF: Arial Unicode MS fc-match arial: ARIALN.TTF: "Arial" "Narrow" I managed to do it in the past with **Windows 8**. Could that be the reason (Windows 10 now)? Update = It gets even more crazy. I've copied fonts from Windows 8 now and rebuilt the cache. Arial appears to be installed and works in a few applications **except Firefox**. It renders Arial as completely blank!

I tried uxrvt and got the same problem when I don't have enough letter spacing, but it works fine when I increase it. However, uxrvt gave me a lot of other problems, just like all the other terminal emulators I tried. Does anybody have an idea?
