I would like to use the Android USB Accessory Mode. This allows to open a data connection between an Android app and an app on another USB device, like a Windows machine.
To start this communication, on the Windows machine, an App must start a USB Host mode. For this, it must send some specific data to the Android Accessory Interface, which will be shows as a USB device inside Windows.
Unfortunately, on my Windows machine, this Android Accessory Interface will not be shown. This will be identified by a device instance ID of
USB\VID_18D1&PID_2D01&MI_...
.
To show this device, I updated my Windows 10 Pro installation and all drivers. Additionally, I installed a special USB driver from Samsung for my Galaxy A20e.

After update, car radio stopped playing audio through USB from my Samsung S5 using AOA

I've bought a Pioneer radio for my car that supports Android Open Acessory (AOA) 2.0. I was happily living with it playing my music through the USB cable to my Galaxy S5 phone. High quality connection and charging at the same time. Just one cable. It was great.
To configure it, it was just necessary to select the correct USB connection type (MTP, if I remember well).
Now here comes an update to Android 6.0 and everything stopped working. It still charges, but I can't make the music go through the car speakers. The USB options now are inside the developer mode. I've tried all the options, but can't make the music go through the USB cable.
My old Moto G, with Android 5.1, successfully connects and plays through the USB cable.
Any fix, workaround, or help to debug is appreciated.

With the Pixel line, Google has abandoned Android Open Accessory 2.0. What do they use for USB audio now?

I recently got a Moto X4. Unlike my previous phone, the Nexus 5X, this one does not support AOA 2.0 , meaning it cannot digitally connect to the Kenwood head unit in my car. Previously, I was able to broadcast sound from my phone to the car stereo, and could use the pause and navigation buttons to control my phone. No more.
I emailed Project Fi about it, and while they couldn't tell me for sure whether the X4 could do this (it can't), they did tell me that the Pixel phones do not support AOA.
So, if Google doesn't support AOA on their phones anymore, is there any new protocol or API to replace it? Has Google given up on USB audio? Or are there USB headphones you can connect directly to the Pixel? For car stereos, is Android Auto support the only way to go from here on out?
