I am doing data recovery on a Xaomi Redmi Note 4(x?) [mido] and I have finally gotten a flash dump ( the screen is scuffed and no perms have been set ( no adb,oem unlock, storage access )) Only way to recover the data would've been to dump the userdata, loopback mount it and copy the files. simple enough, done a few. except no. the tool I used to get the partition table and flash dump says
userdata: Offset 0x0000000148082000, Length 0x0000000d47779e00, Flags 0x0000000000000000, UUID 0f772dd9-b55d-1184-ecf9-bb352eb97272, Type 0x1b81e7e6, Active False
The 'Type' part is what confuses me most, it's twice as long to be a gdisk partition-id-thing and far too short to be a GUID This wouldn't matter if I could mount it to begin with, but thing is, binwalk reports that at offset 0xDCDB29 there is a 'VMware4 disk image'. I try to mount this via qemu-nbd but no ext filesystem ( or others for that matter ) is found does the mido do FDE even without a passcode? the phone doesn't have one I forgot to mention... And if that's the case, how do I even decrypt the data? I've asked on a couple other forums for help already, nothing yet. Honestly any method / guide to broken screen recovery on a full stock android is much apreciated!

My sister´s phone Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro is stuck in the recovery loop. it went in the recovery loop and kept on rebooting again and again. If I select "reboot to system," then it gets back to recovery mode again. I try the option connect with MIAssistant but I recognize that she does not have unable USB sharing, so that´s why I cannot connect that phone to app Mi PC Suite via USB... Is there any chance to save her images, contacts... because she does not save it on the cloud nor do she save them to Google Drive or any other file host, she only save them on the local drive on mobile. Thank you for any answers :)

How can I figure that out, or can anybody give my a yes or no? Thanks EDIT: I already tried CM7, SalsaSense and some other one that looked very similar to CM7 but I forgot the name... CM7 extra stated that it supports loop devices but it fails on my hero. Could it be that there is some hardware issue that even the right ROM can't fix?

Lag fixing using OCLF - could it do any harm?
I am wondering if the lag fix proposed by xda-developers could harm the device in anyway. I am wondering if the lag fix proposed by xda-developers could harm the device in anyway. Quote from Google Code "Original use was for 'One Click Lag Fix' for the Samsung Galaxy S series, to create a loopback EXT2 device on top of Samsung's RFS in order to improve response time for applications." Link to forum page about this: here . How does it work exactly? What does "create loopback EXT2" mean? I know the forum post clearly states it's been tested on a huge number of devices and it's working, but I want to understand what it does exactly and if there is any compromise by installing it? Thank you.
