I want to include it in my Main Menu, but cannot find it. I went to System > Control Center > Main Menu. But could not find it in Menus > Applications or Menus > System. Used to call baobab in the command line, but now its name has changed. Disk Usage Analyzer analyses your disk usage through a graphical tool. Copyrighted by Fabio Marzocca and MATE developers.

By default, the monospace font for my distribution (Trisquel) is Font A. I would like to change it to font B. Some time ago, I managed to make a partial change to Font C, but I have since forgotten this method and cannot reproduce it. The trouble is that now I may see all three fonts in monospaced contexts. Using gnome-tweak-tool as both root and user, I have changed the "monospace" field to Font B. I have also done this via the command line on gsettings, again as both root and user. However: * If a web page requests the style {font-family: monospace;}, Font C displays. Edit: this was a setting in Firefox, which I have changed. * In the Inkscape and gedit font menus, there is a font called simply "Monospace", which is font A. My distribution's default UI fonts, which I have changed, also display in these menus under the names "Sans" and "Serif". * When Thunderbird messages I have received are formatted as plain text, they are displayed in Font A. Unless explicitly changed, messages I write also display in the fonts "Sans" and "Monospace". How can I fix this situation, such that Font B displays in all contexts described above, and the mysterious "Sans" font is replaced by the UI font I am currently using?

I am running an Apache web server on a desktop machine running Trisquel 8 (based on Ubuntu). I would like to make the server accessible to other machines/devices on my local network, but I can't figure out how. When I try to connect from another device, using the local IP address of the Apache server, I get error messages in the browser, such as: in Firefox on a Mac, I get 'Unable to connect. Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost.'. If I try to connect using the DuckDuckGo browser on an Android phone, I get 'Webpage not available. The webpage at http://localhost/ could not be loaded because: net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED'. One of the answers suggested using nmap to see which ports are open, which returned the following result: $ nmap [LOCAL IP ADDRESS] Starting Nmap 7.01 ( https://nmap.org ) at 2019-10-12 09:25 EDT Nmap scan report for [LOCAL IP ADDRESS] Host is up (0.00013s latency). Not shown: 998 closed ports PORT STATE SERVICE 22/tcp open ssh 80/tcp open http Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.09 seconds So, it shows that port 80 is open for http. It's probably also worth mentioning that I can ping the machine from another on the local network and, as the nmap output shows, I have another port open for ssh. I have been ssh-ing to this machine for several months and that works just fine. For that, I just installed the ssh-server and it pretty much worked out of the box. So, does that imply that something is wrong with the Apache2 setup (as opposed to iptables/firewall), given that ssh is working with no problems? Contents of iptables: $ sudo iptables -L Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:http ctstate NEW,ESTABLISHED Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Contents of apache2.conf: # This is the main Apache server configuration file. This is because Debian's # default Apache2 installation attempts to make adding and removing modules, # virtual hosts, and extra configuration directives as flexible as possible, in # order to make automating the changes and administering the server as easy as # possible. # It is split into several files forming the configuration hierarchy outlined # below, all located in the /etc/apache2/ directory: # # /etc/apache2/ # |-- apache2.conf # | `-- ports.conf # |-- mods-enabled # | |-- *.load # | `-- *.conf # |-- conf-enabled # | `-- *.conf # `-- sites-enabled # `-- *.conf # # # * apache2.conf is the main configuration file (this file). It puts the pieces # together by including all remaining configuration files when starting up the # web server. # # * ports.conf is always included from the main configuration file. It is # supposed to determine listening ports for incoming connections which can be # customized anytime. # # * Configuration files in the mods-enabled/, conf-enabled/ and sites-enabled/ # directories contain particular configuration snippets which manage modules, # global configuration fragments, or virtual host configurations, # respectively. # # They are activated by symlinking available configuration files from their # respective *-available/ counterparts. These should be managed by using our # helpers a2enmod/a2dismod, a2ensite/a2dissite and a2enconf/a2disconf. See # their respective man pages for detailed information. # # * The binary is called apache2. Due to the use of environment variables, in # the default configuration, apache2 needs to be started/stopped with # /etc/init.d/apache2 or apache2ctl. I ran netstat -plunt | grep :80 and got the following output: $ sudo netstat -plunt | grep :80 tcp6 0 0 :::80 :::* LISTEN 1557/apache2 Does this mean Apache is listening, but not hearing anything? In terms of the virtualhost configs, which were also requested, the only file in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/ is 000-default.conf, the contents of which is: # The ServerName directive sets the request scheme, hostname and port that # the server uses to identify itself. So, how can I troubleshoot what is blocking the connection? Is there a log anywhere that might enlighten me as to why the connection is being refused, and for what reason? I tried the suggestions made by Jacob in his answer, but unfortunately it didn't resolve the problem. Any other suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Recently I removed uim and removed `GTK_IM_MODULE="uim" line from ~/.profile. But to overcome [this](https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/367372) bug, I am planning to get rid of ibus` now. Without installing any extra input-method, (say fresh-install of Trisquel), echo $GTK_IM_MODULE outputs xim So, I'm confused because considering default input-method is ibus, then **why is $GTK_IM_MODULE saying xim?** **Also can I apt-get remove ibus? or I should install uim first and then remove ibus? Also I want to know which input method is currently working ibus or xim? And What is the right way to set the input method (i.e is it GTK_IM_MODULE="uim" to ~/.profile)?** Besides,I found one gsettings scheme: $ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-im-module 'gtk-im-context-simple' Briefly/Broadly I need help to understand installing/removing and setting-up different input method: - How do I know which input-method is currently active? - How do I install and set-up different input-method? (should I remove another?)

How to make a customized keyboard accessible to all possible variants of linux which use X11? 3. Right now I have made my own repository on github. Can I fork my keyboard in the main repository? If yes what is the correct path to the repository? Searching X11 in github results in numerous repositories out of which I don't know the correct one.

I recently installed Trisquel 8 on a Thinkpad X200T with an Intel 5100 AGN card, and the WiFi did not work after my initial installation. I searched across various other forums for instructions to enable Trisquel to use the card, and I attempted to follow their instructions, but to no avail. My networking hardware switch is set to on, I have the necessary firmware in the /lib/firmware directory, and I did load the iwlwifi module using modprobe, but the WiFi still does not work, and ifconfig and rfkill do not even show a wireless controller (rather, it only shows the ethernet and loopback systems). Would somebody please help me? Thank you! EDIT: I am aware that the firmware-iwlwifi is non-free, but I can't use a free WiFi device right now. I know that using it contradicts Trisquel's philosophy, but I know that I can still install it.

I know that Unattended Upgrades are purposed to install important security updates automatically, however I need to disable it being launched automatically. How do I do that?

I want to know what I am supposed to type then. I am open to going into grub and somehow replacing the password. I have tried out pressing enter at the terminal to no avail. I am the root user and cannot make changes without the password.

I am using Trisquel GNU/Linux 6.0.1 (a modified version of Ubuntu) on the XFCE desktop environment. I am trying to record the output of my speakers. I do not have a microphone, and so cannot use it for this purpose (and I don't want to, anyways, due to the loss of quality). Yet no matter what program I use (I have tried with *many* different programs including Audacity, RecordMyDesktop, GNOME Sound Recorder, and parec), PulseAudio volume control shows that the running program is not detecting any input, and the resulting files contain no audio. It is definitely set to "monitor of built-in analog stereo". In case it's relevant, the output of arecord -l is **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: ALC270 Analog [ALC270 Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Audacity shows this device as a recording option, but using it as input produces the same null results.

I am experiencing a very annoying display problem on my laptop, which I am struggling to troubleshoot: The display is frequently blacking out. When it does this, the system keeps running in the background (not a complete system freeze); however, the display stays off and the only thing it seems to respond to is if I switch virtual terminals (with CTRL-ALT-F1 etc). When I do that, the display comes back on again, but usually blacks out again within a few seconds. The blacking out seems to happen mostly when I am in an X graphical session, and seems to coincide with events that cause fairly significant refreshing/redrawing of the screen (such as if I open a new application window or new web page). If I am working in a console terminal, it seems not to happen (or at least, not as frequently). I am running Trisquel 8 (based on Ubuntu) on a Macbook 2,1 (it is a fairly old machine). The kernel version is 3.13.0-135. I have tried a slightly older kernel (3.13.0-39), but experienced the same problem. So, I am obviously trying to figure out what is causing the issue, and whether it is due to hardware or software. The problem started about a week ago - before that, the display was working fine. Around that time, I updated a few packages and there was probably an initrd update, but I didn't update the kernel or modules. **Edit:** I tried booting up the machine from a Live USB (both Trisquel and Lubuntu). Neither of them worked. When I tried to boot Trisquel, I got a printed error message saying i915: Invalid ROM contents, then the screen went completely black. However, the system carried on booting in the background, because I was able to blindly open a terminal and type reboot to reboot the system.

I've upgraded (from Trisquel 7.0) to Trisquel 8.0 with clean/fresh install. When I connected to printer (HP LaserJet P1007) it's detected while adding from settings>printers (system-config-printer) and I completed the setup;at last it asked whether to print test page and it was not printed. I also tried printing documents but they are not really printed and system shows printed successfully. Though it displays correctly added/configured in settings: enter image description here enter image description here I'm not sure but earlier I had faced similar problem when I solved it by manually configuring through hp-setup as discussed [here](https://askubuntu.com/q/464651/256099) . I've also tried that but it's showing following error: error: HPLIP is not installed properly or is installed without graphical support. Please reinstall HPLIP warning: Qt/PyQt 4 initialization failed. error: hp-setup requires GUI support (try running with --qt3). Also, try using interactive (-i) mode. So,(looking at it would be the issue with GUI provided by Qt4), I tried interactive mode: $ hp-setup -i HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.16.3) Printer/Fax Setup Utility ver. 9.0 Copyright (c) 2001-15 HP Development Company, LP This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. This is free software, and you are welcome to distribute it under certain conditions. See COPYING file for more details. (Note: Defaults for each question are maked with a '*'. Press to accept the default.) -------------------------------- | SELECT CONNECTION (I/O) TYPE | -------------------------------- Num Connection Description Type -------- ---------- ---------------------------------------------------------- 0* usb Universal Serial Bus (USB) 1 net Network/Ethernet/Wireless (direct connection or JetDirect) 2 par Parallel Port (LPT:) Enter number 0...2 for connection type (q=quit, enter=usb*) ? 0 Using connection type: usb error: No device selected/specified or that supports this functionality. Hence the error is "No device selected/specified or that supports this functionality." I've also checked that hp-plugin is installed properly because I remember [my printer needs plugin](https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/supported_devices/index) : $ hp-plugin -i HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.16.3) Plugin Download and Install Utility ver. 2.1 ----------------------------------------- | PLUG-IN INSTALLATION FOR HPLIP 3.16.3 | ----------------------------------------- The driver plugin for HPLIP 3.16.3 appears to already be installed. Do you wish to download and re-install the plug-in? (y=yes*, n=no, q=quit) ? n Thus, **how do I fix the issue of 'jobs are not printing and it's shown printing completed' and 'hp-setup not working'?** Note: I've also tried purging and re-installing hplip and here is the version of package available on Trisquel's repository: $ apt-cache policy hplip hplip: Installed: 3.16.3+repack0-1+8.0trisquel1 Candidate: 3.16.3+repack0-1+8.0trisquel1 Version table: *** 3.16.3+repack0-1+8.0trisquel1 500 500 https://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel flidas-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I am using Trisquel version 7 (Belenos), which is based on Ubuntu, with the LXDE desktop environment. It seems to be using the gnome-keyring-daemon to store and remember passwords; however, it doesn't seem to be working properly. For example, when I open Evolution mail, I am prompted for my e-mail/calendar/address book passwords, and then I am asked to give a password for a 'default keyring' to store them. However, the 'default keyring' doesn't seem to persist - I get asked the same questions again and again every time I start Evolution. I read the man page for gnome-keyring-daemon, but it didn't to help a great deal in explaining how it works. Does anyone know what the problem might be? **Edit:** Just to add, I tried removing and then re-installing the gnome keyring package and the problem was still there. I will try doing a 'complete removal' and see if that helps, in case there are some broken config files hanging around.
