I have an enterprise application which will be distributed using Volume Purchase Plan. I've read the documentation and understand the method of generating and downloading the codes in a spreadsheet and sharing to users.
I want to automate this process from a Java application. Does Apple provide any API to query for the redemption codes using a valid VPP-enabled Apple account. I was going through the forum and found generate promo codes for in app purchases thread but couldn't find the solution with the accepted answer. Also followed the suggested methods in these Apple documents App Store Connect API , App Store Connect , Private Distribution and business it but couldn't get clear information on implementing in Java application.

I have tried using the admin Apple ID instead of a simple employee one, but it does not seem to solve the issue. Is there a change I need to apply to the ManageEngine Profile in order to make it work?
Thanks a lot!

I'm fairly new to the whole world of Apple and macOS. As I'm currently writing my thesis about the possible enrollment of macOS devices via [Device Enrollment Program](https://www.apple.com/business/docs/site/DEP_Guide.pdf) (DEP) (in connecting with some other stuff), I searched the Web, books and the Apple's Developer documentation, but I have not found a reliable guide on how to use [Volume Purchase Program](https://volume.itunes.apple.com/?l=en) (VPP) and DEP (or at least a "quotable" description), only the handbook for ABM (which is pretty good, but does not answer all my questions).
Am I just blind or are there some "hidden" gems that i seem to overlook? Maybe there is a guide in [Apple Business Manager](https://business.apple.com) (ABM) directly, to which i don't have access - yet - ?

I've got an issue with a pilot deployment of iPhones with VPP device licences assigned. These are iPhone 11s, running iOS 13.3, managed via a MDM solution that pushes VPP **device** licences to DEP managed devices that are enrolled into the MDM.
All sets up well and fine, and the user can take a fully deployed iPhone and sign into the MDM solution's management app, and then the Apple App Store works just fine. All the apps we push appear as expected and the iPhones work as expected.
However, some users are prompted daily for their (managed company) Apple ID if any application updates are pending for the apps that were pushed to their phone using VPP (Just to be clear, the user is being asked for their own managed Apple ID, not another person's Apple ID or the VPP token details).
It looks like this is related to automatic app updates, as these prompts cease if this is turned off in iPhone Settings app → iCloud → iTunes & App Store → Automatic Downloads → App Updates.
Expected behaviour should be to update the apps without the user having to sign in again.
Note that the VPP apps are correctly licenced to the device, and its possible to deploy a device, hand it to a user who does not sign in to the App Store, and app updates are pushed just fine.

I have develop the app for a client who has its own company, the employee within the company or any external user can use this application.
But first user need to register himself to use this app.
While registering user needs to give the unique code. This will be provided by company, user need to contact first to company.
This is the my app's registering senario.
I have submit my app to apple for review with proper metadata and all apps senario.
But i dont know how apple has considered it as inhouse app, which have the ability to make it use for external user.
But apple reject it and suggest to distribute it with volume purchase program and enterprise program.
After lots of searching I understood following things about these:
**VPP(volume purchase program)**: We can purchase the application from vpp store in a bulk and then the company owner
who has the vpp account can distribute amongst its employees.
**Enterprise Program :** In this program we need to upload .ipa file to our custom server and make it available to employees by providing downlod link.
This is all my understanding about these two concept.
One confusion about vpp that, Are vpp only contains the app listed that are available in app store?(if yes then my app is not goig to be distributed in app store(according to apple) then how apple suggest vpp)
Can any one please help me out? and please suggest how to make it approved from apple to distribute in app store? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance..

Deployment of free enterprise apps in VPP

I've read a lot about the B2B iOS apps distribution, VPP program, however I'd like to be able to verify my knowledge and hope you could help.
Let's suppose a company A develops an iOS application, publishes it to the Appstore as a B2B app (hidden for all normal users in Appstore), and adds a company B already enrolled in the VPP program to the list of entities eligible to buy the app. Furthermore, let's assume the app is free.
What's the easiest way for company B to install this free app on their devices?
The [document](http://images.apple.com/business/docs/VPP_Business_Guide.pdf) states there are two ways (MDM and redeemable codes), however [this page](https://simplemdm.com/2016/03/21/how-to-deploy-ios-apps-for-businesses/) mentions that B2B apps can be distributed with MDM only, and yet another source I've found stated that only paid apps can be distributed with both MDM and redeemable codes (the free ones are MDM only).
So what is and what is not possible here? Can free apps be distributed by redeemable codes? I have several concerns:
1. Let's say a user within company B wants to install the app, using a redeemable code. How does he do that? Is it done by opening the App store, entering the code and the app will automatically become visible for that user (based on Apple ID)?
2. If yes, can users update the app through Appstore?
3. MDM can be problematic to set up, and I'm not sure why it's a better solution than redeemable codes (Apple deprecated codes for some reason). Also, I'm not aware of a free MDM (heard about Cisco's Meraki), not sure how free that thing really is.
I'd be grateful if you could answer any of the questions above.

After installing a new copy of OSX Server I started the Profile Manager and wanted to add some users and enroll them for the VPP Managed Distribution (I am already registered for VPP).
In the VPP Managed Distribution section I hit "Resend invitation..." and a success message is displayed, but no invitation is received.
The possible causes:
- Missing SSL certificate
- Misconfigured e-mail in OSX server
- Misconfigured DNS
I tried different email addresses and checked spam, but none of it helped.
Why are my invitations not sent?

Presumably this is just a short term issue with the iTunes connect website? (I've been having the problem since yesterday).
I've tried using Firefox, Safari, and Chrome; and connected on a few different networks to rule out my router.
**Is anyone else seeing the same issue?**

We buy apps using Volume Purchase Program with managed distribution through OS X Server's profile manager.
One of employees left, so I removed his user account from OS X Server. However, the licenses for apps we bought him are still unavailable to re-assign to other users, and I can't remove them from his account manually because it has been deleted.
Viewing the app's info page in Profile Manager shows that we have 13 - 3 = 10 licenses in use, and only lists 9 people who currently hold licenses to the app:
Is there anything I can do to reclaim that license? I could re-create the user, but we don't have access to his Apple ID so I don't think we could re-connect it to our Profile Manager; and if we can't do that, I don't think we'll be able to see the app associated with his user.

The app is designed for different users (not employee of a single company, so no 300$/year solution) which resides in different countries.
Is there a way to give the users redeem codes when they are not necessarily in the country of the VPP store?
I've asked Apple but they REALLY didn't seem to have a clear picture of their own voucher code system.

I have a set of redeem codes associated to a VPP purchase.
I went ot my phone itunes and entered the first code.
The app download started automatically.
Unfortunately, due to a network problem, the download failed.
Now returning to itunes I cannot find any way to re try downloading the app.
Also re-entering the code obviously does not work (the code has already been used).
So how can I re-try downloading the app on that phone without using a different code?

Is this possible? We have iOS VPP set up perfectly to the point where apps can be one click installed - can this be done with OS X?

Today, several **paid** apps we have our eyes on to purchase for use on our classroom iPads through the VPP program are available **free** for the day, so I downloaded them and installed them in Apple Configurator, where they indeed show up as being free in the list of apps and can be installed on iDevices without problems.
I'm concerned that somehow this is not legal to do, but I cannot find any verbiage indicating this illegality. I'm assuming that if the app is free at the time of download, it remains free to install on devices despite the app's previous, and future, availability as a paid app.
Does anybody have any definitive information?

For example, Apple has removed iWork physical boxes from just about everywhere near my office and I can't get them from any of my vendors online. The only way to get iWork now appears to be through the app store, but I don't want my users to be using their apple id's for the purchases.

My guess is no, but figured perhaps someone may have already tried this.
