I am currently troubleshooting a bizarre problem on my Arch Linux system. Since about a week ago, pacman upgrades started failing. Fetching the latest package lists hangs for roughly 10 seconds after returning a bunch of time-out messages, although it still moves on to the upgrade phase. Once I type y, pacman hangs once again for a minute or so before giving up and exiting. Here is an example.
> sudo pacman -Syu --needed

I attempted to refresh mirrors using

Below is reflector's settings.
> cat /etc/xdg/reflector/reflector.conf
# Reflector configuration file for the systemd service.
#
# Empty lines and lines beginning with "#" are ignored. All other lines should
# contain valid reflector command-line arguments. The lines are parsed with
# Python's shlex modules so standard shell syntax should work. All arguments are
# collected into a single argument list.
#
# See "reflector --help" for details.

# Recommended Options

# Set the output path where the mirrorlist will be saved (--save).
--save /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

# Select the transfer protocol (--protocol).
--protocol https

# Select the country (--country).
# Consult the list of available countries with "reflector --list-countries" and
# select the countries nearest to you or the ones that you trust. For example:
--country "South Korea,Japan"

# Use only the most recently synchronized mirrors (--latest).
--latest 10

# Sort the mirrors by synchronization time (--sort).
--sort age
Finally this is
's settings.

Assuming
was not selecting the best mirrors, I copied the [Worldwide Mirrorlist](https://archlinux.org/mirrorlist/?country=all&protocol=http&protocol=https&ip_version=4) and tried again. No progress. Finally, I dialed my ISP, explained my situation and was issued a new IP address in a different subnet. Still failed. However, I was surprised to notice that I could upgrade using
, the AUR wrapper. I was able to upgrade a single package that does not have dependencies without issues. However,
--needed
, which calls pacman to upgrade the entire system at once failed in the same way. I did not try to upgrade the remaining 1400+ packages due to fears of a partial upgrade. I tried clearing the cache as well but to no avail. Is pacman fixable or am I forced to reinstall the whole system?

One of the configured repositories failed (libnvidia-container), and yum doesn't have enough cached data to continue. At this point the only safe thing yum can do is fail. There are a few ways to work "fix" this: 1. Contact the upstream for the repository and get them to fix the problem. 2. Reconfigure the baseurl/etc. for the repository, to point to a working upstream. This is most often useful if you are using a newer distribution release than is supported by the repository (and the packages for the previous distribution release still work). 3. Run the command with the repository temporarily disabled yum --disablerepo=libnvidia-container ... 4. Disable the repository permanently, so yum won't use it by default. Yum will then just ignore the repository until you permanently enable it again or use --enablerepo for temporary usage: yum-config-manager --disable libnvidia-container or subscription-manager repos --disable=libnvidia-container 5. Configure the failing repository to be skipped, if it is unavailable. Note that yum will try to contact the repo. when it runs most commands, so will have to try and fail each time (and thus. yum will be be much slower). If it is a very temporary problem though, this is often a nice compromise: yum-config-manager --save --setopt=libnvidia-container.skip_if_unavailable=true failure: repodata/repomd.xml from libnvidia-container: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try. https://nvidia.github.io/libnvidia-container/centos7/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml : [Errno -1] repomd.xml signature could not be verified for libnvidia-container I have the following: $ nvcc --version nvcc: NVIDIA (R) Cuda compiler driver Copyright (c) 2005-2016 NVIDIA Corporation Built on Tue_Jan_10_13:22:03_CST_2017 Cuda compilation tools, release 8.0, V8.0.61 $ lsb_release -a LSB Version: :core-4.1-amd64:core-4.1-noarch Distributor ID: CentOS Description: CentOS Linux release 7.8.2003 (Core) Release: 7.8.2003 Codename: Core and two 1080 Ti GPUs.

[The package was updated yesterday](https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/wireplumber/) so I assumed the mirrors do not have the latest version yet. I tried refreshing the mirrors.
> pacman -Syyuu --needed sudo gnome gnome-extra amd-ucode
Pacman did refresh the package list but still tried to use the same 20 mirrors, none of which had the latest version of the package. What command forces pacman to try other mirrors, or even better, actively find mirrors that are up to date? [Edit] Tried out
as suggested in the comments.

I've had to reinstall my HoloISO OS because for an unknown reason the previous install failed to boot. Upon even a complete reinstall I've been unable to use pacman. I've rebooted and looked for other instances of pacman running or db.lck files, but none have appeared. I don't have any reason to beleive I'm using pacmac, but I don't have any other ideas. Trying to use pacman -Syu results in an install failure caused by "failed to synchronise all databases" Also trying to reboot results in an 1228 second long stream of "device not accepting address XX, error -71" according to the INFO message right before it finally did restart, but I haven't had the chance to investigate that yet. I will edit this post once I've got the chance to investigate this further. SOLUTION: Forgot to steamos-readonly disable

Does a mirror still exist for CentOS-3.9-srcDVD.iso?
I am looking for a copy of the RPM source code DVD for CentOS 3.9. The file name is "CentOS-3.9-srcDVD.iso". There are lots of mirrors for the CDs but I have been unable to locate the DVD.

I want to create a mirror of my existing Debian server. I modified many files in /etc, and I don't want to redo everything by hand or download huge mirrors. What I thought of doing is 1. Download a list of all files in /etc 2. Download a list of all .deb packages installed Then, on the original server, 1. Expand all .deb into /tmp/etc1 and see which /etc files they install 2. ls /tmp/etc1 > /tmp/listOfOrigEtc 3. ls /tmp/etc > /tmp/listOfEtc 4. diff /tmp/listOfEtc /tmp/listOfOrigEtc > /tmp/listOfFilesToDownload 5. Download all new etc files 6. Using find, see which /etc/ files were *modified* and download them Is there a way to do this **using a single command**?

I traced the app packets and found out that it's using port 49152. I reached this XML file: [screenshot link](https://ibb.co/pZzS9YJ) I tried many different solutions to use Mirror Cast with other apps, but all of them tried to use the other port of the device, port 25806, which is a UPNP service that loads the device's local folders. Do you have any idea how I can use Mirror Cast to watch the server on my device? Or how to make a custom service to run this home server?

I use wget, rsync and curl to download files regularly (via https or ssh). One issue when I travel is that servers that are fast to access in one region become slow (or even inaccessible) in another. My current strategy is to use mirrors and switch to mirrors that are local to each region. I was wondering if there are Unix commandline tools that allow downloading a file from multiple mirrors as the source. The mirrors do not have to be used in parallel. They are used as backups, and the fastest one is used if the connection is lost. The command line should look like: xxget url1 url2 -- Update -- As pointed out by the accepted answer, the aria2c documentation has an example that does exactly this: Download from 2 sources: $ aria2c http://a/f.iso ftp://b/f.iso

I maintain our isolated network for specific tasks. For easy install debian system, choosing and adding the additional packages we have an easy configurable lighttpd- web server with full debian repository mirror. I download the mirror once per year with apt-mirror, single architecture amd64, testing/stable/oldstable, and the corresponding netinstall mini.iso onto a USB externeal HD. Then I copy all downloaded files to our web server, and also reconfigure files of the BootP server, to use the new mini.iso images. Additionaly I use to prepare a mobile repository of stable version on a USB flash disk for the Linux notebooks which are used off the office (deb file:///path/debian stable main contrib). Everything worked fine, but this year I cannot use the new local repository for debian installation using **netinst** mini.iso, and the mobile repository also cannot be used. The formerly installed Linux can use the new local mirror using http protocol. I cannot determine the main reason, because the netinst mini.iso just says „your mirror does not work“ but there are no logs, no details. The communication with the mobile repo indicates that there may be some problem with GPG. But the error/warninig messages also say that apt-get update cannot download the Release and InRelease files, even that these files do exist in the announced path. Well, I can accept the trend for better security on the Internet, but I would like to be either supported with valuable (optimally illustrated with examples) information how to kiss the local repository to wake it up, or how to switch off the security barriers for the fundamentally secure environment, as the isolated net or file connected repo definitely have to be. Do you know the certain way how to and what to repair in ought to be able to regain the PXE netinstalation from an isolated debian repository? After some experiments: We found, that one error comes from the multi-arch repository: I downloaded amd64 and i386. The client asks for Contents-all file, but the apt-mirror did not mirrored it. We downloaded these files manually, and some errors dismissed. But some other errors persist. We tried to create new GPG signatures, but no effect. The other suspected source of errors may be the mini.iso. It can content some config, in which we can remove the GPG requests, or add some trusted gpg keys. But even so small, it is not well documented. We can try to ask the maintainers for help.

I don't have this /my/data file locally. **QUESTION:** How to push without deleting /my/data and its content? Notes: - I could download /my/data and then run the command above, but data added in the few seconds before the download and the upload would get lost. - For the other files/folders, local deletion should be mirrored by a remote deletion. - I don't want to use --only-newer-like operations because clocks might not be adjusted.

I'm trying to mirror a website (of which I'm the webmaster) using LFTP, for backup. I use the LFTP command (actual paths, usernames, and passwords redacted for privacy): mirror -e -p --verbose=1 /public_html /mnt/lobster3raid//public_html It's working except that LFTP is removing each file from the mirror and then re-transferring it, even if it hasn't changed on the webserver (I get this on every single file every time): Removing old file `/IMG_2003.jpg' Transferring file `/IMG_2003.jpg' Removing old file `/IMG_2004.jpg' Transferring file `/IMG_2004.jpg' Removing old file `/IMG_2005.jpg' Transferring file `/IMG_2005.jpg' **How can I run a LFTP mirror that only transfers changed/newer files?** More background: The destination mirror is on a Windows share at \\\LOBSTER3\raid. I'm doing this on Windows. I had it working OK with Cygwin's LFTP for a while, but lately have been getting permission problems from Windows (apparently Cygwin's LFTP is setting permissions Windows doesn't like). So I'm now using the LFTP in wsl (Ubuntu). I run this batch file from Windows: wsl -u root -- mkdir /mnt/lobster3raid wsl -u root -- mount -t drvfs \\\\lobster3\\raid /mnt/lobster3raid wsl -- lftp -u , -e 'set ssl:check-hostname no; mirror -e -p --verbose=1 /public_html /mnt/lobster3raid/mirrors/1day/public_html'

In case it is reversed, is there any way to make the mouse move like in normal setups while keeping the screen mirrored?

Are there programs that do it already?

I have a Linux (CentOS7) software RAID1 system with two disks which are getting old. One has been starting to show signs of failure. I'd like to phase these disks out one at a time with new disks but always have a fully mirror active. I was thinking to add a third new disk for a 3-way mirror, then fail out an old disk, repeat with another new one, then fail out the second old disk. That way I'd always have a mirror and not wait for a raid rebuild after a fail event. This seems like it could work with num-devices=3 and grow, but, when I'm done how do I 'shrink' it back to two devices? I can't seem to find a reference to what I'm attempting.

I'm currently writing a program for a project. It is for a braille reading system where I have a braille display connected via USB that is controlled by a program called brltty. One of the requirements for this project is to have the ability to connect more than one braille display although only let the master display have control of the system. I thought the easiest way to do this was, rather than having to send commands to every instance of brltty in my program, I could just mirror what is output to the main USB, to each USB port. Is this possible?
