I want to be able to open a link on my phone using an NFC tag. I brought some Timeskey NFC tags to do some tests. On Android, I have no issue using NFC tools app I can read and write, on iPhone 12 nothing works. First I tried with an empty tag using NFC tools and my iPhone never detects the tag to read or write. Then I updated the tag to open a link but nothing happens, I tried with the phone locked and unlocked. Then I tried with an iPhone 13 and I have the exact same issue, I read some posts but on those phones seems that the NFC can not be disabled, the service is always listening. I contacted the NFC tag vendor, and they ensure me the tag is working with iPhone, but you know this is this typical product coming from a Chinese factory and no one know how it works in details. The tag type is ISO 14443-3A. I can not find any information on the Internet to know if there are only some tags compatible with iPhone or if there is some kind of special encoding for iPhone.

Possible to read text record from NFC tag within Shortcuts?
Which Shortcut action reads an NFC text record? **Example:** - NFC tag is written with a text record: `Office` - Shortcut trigger: `NFC` - Within the automation steps, how can I read the `Office` value of the text record?

I just got my iPhone 11 pro max and wanted to see, if it can read the nfc enabled wrist band of my local gym. There are several nfc-apps on the app store and additionally the shortcuts app is capable of reading nfc-tags. When scanning the wrist band with the shortcuts app, it is recognized. But every other app does not recognize it. Are there different flavors of nfc? Is this just a iOS quirk? Is there a reason why only the shortcuts app can see this tag? **Background:** The local gym has some kind of nfc-based member-card. In fact its not a card, but a wrist-band with a tiny nfc-chip in it as it seems. The wrist band reader on the door is made by a company named "Gantner". In the long run I want to get rid of this silly red wrist band and just use my apple watch. But I think this is not (yet) possible. Nevertheless I am curious to understand what is stored in this band and how nfc works in this case. ---------- **Update:** Added Apps [NFC for iPhone](https://apps.apple.com/de/app/nfc-für-iphone/id1249686798) , [NFC-Tools](https://apps.apple.com/de/app/nfc-tools/id1252962749) , [NFC21 Reader](https://apps.apple.com/de/app/nfc21-reader/id1293225257) , [Simply NFC](https://apps.apple.com/de/app/simply-nfc-tag-writer-reader/id1262550712) , [NFC TagInfo](https://apps.apple.com/de/app/nfc-taginfo-by-nxp/id1246143596) and a few others.

I'm working on a project using shortcuts and nfc tags to timestamp various locations and then append those to a google sheet. I have it working, but I'm hoping to find a way to improve it so that you don't have to tap the shortcut to run it and instead it just runs like a personal automation does. Here's what I've done so far: - downloaded shortsheets for the google sheets connection (looked into other ways and it was too much work and shortsheets worked great, worth the $2) - used NFC tools to write a custom url (shortcuts://run-shortcut?name=NFCscan&input=text&text=Monument1 - created the following shortcut enter image description here Like I said, this already works great but when you scan the tag you still have to tap the shortcut to run it. I'd really like to be able to use the NFC tag personal automation to maybe auto trigger this shortcut I've created? I know the personal automation only reads the UID you assign it but I wasn't sure if there was someway it could also run my shortcut or get the text from the url and I'm just missing something. I already tried having the personal automation run the shortcut but it fails and you still need to click to run the shortcut. Any help or advice is appreciated!

When I use the built-in Shortcuts app, I can read various RFID tags: access tags, passports, library books etc. Those tags are obviously compatible with the iPhone hardware, but I have yet to find any NFC app that can read these. I have tried at least five different apps, the latest being NFC Tools . According to this link , it should be possible to read the UID on iOS 13+.

My phone is about 2.5 years old, and in that time the NFC reader has worked without problems. But recently my phone stopped being able to read NFC chips - such as wireless payment. I've tried to remove the cover, which doesn't work. I've also done a forced restart, updated to the newest iOS (16.1) and done a factory reset, without luck. This makes me think that it is a hardware issue, even though I've never had the phone opened up, so I can't see how hardware could've been damaged. I've then tried to see if the NFC flex cable wasn't connected properly to the motherboard, and I made sure the screws connecting the flex cable to the motherboard were properly tightened - as most google searches recommended checking this. As you probably guessed, this also didn't work. Also, as far as I can understand, the QI wireless charging is built into the NFC antenna. But the wireless charging works fine (using a QI charger). Would this indicate that the problem is not with the NFC antenna? Is it possible that there is a loose connection elsewhere than the flex cable? What else can I do? Is it possible to replace the NFC antenna myself? Or is the problem elsewere? Edit: Added extra info

For operational security reasons, I am looking for a way to completely disable RF communications, including WiFi, Bluetooth, & NFC if applicable, for non-administrator accounts in macOS, without removing the hardware as some machines have soldered Logic Boards. Either natively within macOS, or with some kind of additional application, is there a way that I can completely disable RF for standard users (only allowing wired networking)?

And that there are 3 modes in NFC (read/write; peer-to-peer; card emulation). All I wanted (before googling all of this) was simply to share an URL _using NFC_ and I failed at that. Since tag writing is now supported I thought that that was possible, but couldn’t find anything. With iOS 13, does anyone know if it’s possible to exchange information (peer-to-peer mode) like an URL using NFC?

Some hotels have the Apple Room Key feature where you can unlock your door room and elevator according to your booking details with Wallet and NFC. Us developpers, have the possibility to create passes, sometimes NFC passes with Apple special NFC certification that we can obtain here . However, I did not find any documentation about a "room key" feature. I do believe then, that this feature is quite exclusive like the car key feature, but the car key feature is clearly made and stated to be developped with car manufacturers. Whereas this room key feature could not only benefit all sorts of hotels but also company offices and is mentioned nowhere on Apple's website (correct me if I'm wrong please). The equivalent feature is the home key announced at the WWDC21 . It is well documented but limited to HomeKit capabilities and compatible devices. Does someone know anything about this or was more lucky than me searching for this topic?

NDEF Apps like e.g. NFC Tools for Desktop are no use to me, because they only support reading/writing NDEF records but not raw data.

These token communicate for example via NFC with the PC. But I don't want to use an extra token, when I have my iPhone which could do the job as well. Is it possible to use an iPhone as a FIDO2 hardware token instead of those tiny hardware FIDO2 tokens? Is this possible with a plain iPhone running iOS 14.6 or do I need a special app so that the iPhone could act as authenticator? I am aware that this would not work for authentication of web site in Safari on the iPhone, I only want the iPhone for FIDO2 authentication of my PC.
