XCode 12.5.1 simulator is not seen under /Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes
After upgrading XCode to latest version `12.5.1` , checked folder /Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes this doesn't show any simulator even when XCode is showing default simulators installed with latest version of iOS

I work as mobile app dev. Our development machine is 256 GB Macbook M2. Due to security reasons, our accounts is non-admin so installing some apps or tweaking some macOS settings to make debugging easier is impossible without admin access. Which is eventually proven to be a bit annoying. 256 GB for mobile app dev is a bit limited, so I'm thinking to install Xcode and iOS simulators on external disk. The external disk isn't arrived yet, so first I try installing XCode on another folder, say ~/Apps. Downloded the Xcode_16.2.xip and extract it to that folder. So far it works. Now let's try to install iOS simulator enter image description here Ouch. Can't install it without admin access. And to save space, definitely will remove the simulator if it's not needed. Is there a.. um "easy" way to do it as non-admin user? Perhaps by giving me special permission just to manage the XCode installation myself?

I think I have installed that 17.2 simulator by simctl after the grand removal but something is still missing. UPD To think of it WebRTC might not be platform framework but somthing that's shipped with this app. I am confused : Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/ seems like an immutable directory. What is app framework is doing there then?

I'm working with iOS voices for accessibility reasons. In iOS simulator I've tried to install Alex voice which is one of the most popular English voices. To choose it I downloaded it first. However, after that, the voice looks like something between enabled and disabled. E.g. for Allison I see that it's not downloaded hence it's not available for me. On the other hand, Samantha is downloaded, so I can navigate further and edit the voice, for example I can delete it. But for Alex I can't neither delete it nor select it to use later. When I try to press Erase All Content and Settings... for the simulator, sometimes it doesn't change anything, but sometimes it erases Alex voice, but situation returns after downloading this voice. Is there any other way how it Alex can be installed on the simulator?

On this simulator, if I drop files from desktop or a folder inside desktop, I get an error saying, 'The file could not be opened because you don't have the permission to view it'. However, if this files is moved to some folder inside ~/Builds/SampleFiles/*, the drag and drop copies the files to the simulator. Is something specific needed to be done to provide such an access to the simulator ? I can see that Simulator has 'Full Disk Access' under 'Security and Privacy'.

Any ideas how to remove that permission or reinstall the thing altogether? The Xcode is 15.4 the simulator was for iOS 17.2 in case it matters and all versions of Xcode were downloaded from apple website. Or so I hope. Maybe I can somehow verify the checksums of the perpetrator? Not sure how to get out of this predicament. I could not attach audio on s.o. sites or could I?

The disk image in question contains iOS 17.2.21C62 Simulator. I believe when opening xcode for the first time, it asked me if I wanted to install an iOS simulator, but that is all I know about this disk image. Apple Disk Utility with iOS Simulator showing up as a disk image Why does this disk image keep appearing in Disk utiliy, and how do I get rid of it? See picture below for details.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue, and how did you resolve it? I've been using Xcode from version 13 up to the current version (14.3.1), and this issue continues to happen. Could it be that my MacBook is too old to build Swift projects? CPU MEMORY

Edit: I restarted Simulator several times and after a lengthy wait it is now on.

In any case I decided to help him out, but I don't personally own any mac hardware. I am trying to find the cheapest path to be able to develop an iPhone app. Doing a little research reveals...
- "starting April 2023, all iOS and iPadOS apps submitted to the App Store must be built with Xcode 14.1 and the iOS 16.1 SDK." - Xcode only (legally) runs on mac hardware (so I need to get hardware somehow). - Xcode 14.1 requires macOS Monterey 12.5 or newer - The oldest/cheapest mac that will run macOs Monterey is the Mac Mini from late 2014
- These would be part numbers MGEM2xx/A, MGEN2xx/A, MGEQ2xx/A - These model numbers are currently selling for like $100~$300 refurbished on eBay. I think (on paper at least) that I have verified that I can run Xcode 14.1 on a 2014 mac mini. So here is the main question. **Can someone who has tried to run Xcode 14.1 on a 2014 mac mini verify that they were they able to successfully develop an app using this configuration.** For context, let's assume I want to run the iOS simulator for test and debug. I will use swift as the programming language. Also assume that the app I am developing is not very resource intensive (no 3D or 2D animations or physics). It will be a simple adventure story type game. The user is first shown a static background image (JPEG), some text, and a menu. The menu choice gets them to a new state, with a new image, text and menu options. That continues until they reach the end of the story.

I can't seem to find any updated (or reliable) sources of iOS emulators for Mac, I am running Sierra. At first I believed that in Xcode, when I went to run my app, was running an **em**ulator, but I was mistaken. I guess it's a **sim**ulator. The difference is they have different compatibilities, so if you take an .ipa (iOS app) file and install it onto the Simulator, the app will crash. My question is are there any iOS **em**ulators out there where I can install real apps from the App Store, or from an .ipa file.
