Is it possible to send audio from music in iTunes, or from movies on Netflix, or video game sounds, etc., from my MacBook and receive and listen to the audio on my iPhone? I'm thinking of this working like wireless headphones, except with a really long cord. If there is a way could you let me know how the solution works, I'm interested in creating my own script/app to do this if it's not too daunting. If its important, I'm running an old 2009 MacBook, running Snow Leopard.

I've read about creating some Frankenstein multi-output thingie in the MIDI section of settings, or something like that -- not interested. Does anyone have a convenient solution to this obvious use case? I'll take a third-party solution again, if need be, since it seems like Apple is once again denying functionality to steer users toward their profit channels (the Music App in this case). I have a ton of Airplay 2 -capable Airport Expresses which I Hoovered up on Ebay. They're great, and I'd just like to be able to stream to a bunch at once from my Mac using the audio source of my choice.

I understand the benefits coming from HDR, but some creators use HDR wrong, just to pump up their videos so they look "better". When watching them in dark room with low screen brightness they blind me, because the screen suddenly gets very bright. example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeOfAN4NqGk "Optimize video streaming while on battery" is a MacOS setting that plays HDR content as SDR while on battery. It works exactly how I expect, making those HDR videos watchable when the screen brightness is low. However I can't use it when plugged in. What doesn’t work is Settings -> Displays -> Preset -> "Apple Display (P3-500 nits) as that’s still too bright in a dark room for my needs. I am hoping there is a kind of system flag, private or documented API or other way to override this setting even when the MacBook is plugged in. But I do not know how to find How can I always force streamed HDR video to be presented as SDR on macOS even when powered and not just on battery power?

I like to use Discord as a screen-sharing app with my friends, but when I'm watching a Discord stream it brings my Mac to its knees, causing other applications to become very unresponsive. This came to a head today when it started eating up all my RAM and, then, all my disk space as well. This is a 13-inch MacBook Air from 2019 (Processor: 1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 617 1536 MB, Memory: 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3, MacOS 14.2.1 (23C71)). I would like to know what it is about Discord streaming in general that causes my Mac to sputter and stall, and what this specific problem illustrated below was caused by, as the only option I found to remedy the absurd memory usage was to quit Discord. While this was going on, my Mac was, as expected, very unresponsive. Things like opening Spotlight with cmd+space or opening Activity Monitor took on the order of 10 seconds. Eventually the swap usage got high enough that I got a notification in the upper-right that disk space was getting full and to clean up my hard disk. High Memory/Swap Usage I do have a handful of dormant Chrome Youtube tabs open which I think may be related to the issue at hand, but the memory usage is low enough that it might be a red herring.

If I am watching a 2k or 4K movie stream with a Firestick on my Samsung TV, it immediately goes into a stutter/lag if my wife opens up YouTube, Facebook or Messenger on her iPhone 13 Pro. Once she shuts it down, everything streams fine. (I can't guarantee this, but I swear it will also hog the BW / latency on her iPad as well.) If either, or both devices are idle. I don't see the lag. Tried several players, playlists, VPN on & off, and VLC external video player. Recently updated to Xfi 1.2G. Worst case BW that I see was in the 50 MB's, but pings are in the 60 to 70 range. (ExpressVPN). This is with an Apple device causing the lag on the TV. Best case w/o VPN may get to 200 Mbps, but pings are still above 50, and without an apple device signed in. Is this due to Tizon, Firestick 4k or Apple OS? thoughts?

I have a 2021 14" MacBook Pro running macOS 12.4 (21F79) that won't display streaming video in Safari when connected (Thunderbolt) to a LG UltraFine 5K display. It does the classic thing of playing audio but blacking out the video. If I use another browser, basically anything non-WebKit, it works perfectly well. Thunderbolt is the only connection to this particular LG display and using HDMI with my TV doesn't trigger the issue. Any hints as to how I can debug this issue so I can file a bug report or something?

I want to achieve the same thing on MacOS VM running in virtualbox using webcamoid's akvcam virtual webcam driver & soundflower loopback card which are identified via avfoundation as list below:
$ ffmpeg -f avfoundation -list_devices true -i ""
[AVFoundation input device @ 0x7f2d3e802560] AVFoundation video devices:
[AVFoundation input device @ 0x7f2d3e802560] Testcam1 (akvcam/video0)
[AVFoundation input device @ 0x7f2d3e802560] [1] Capture screen 0
[AVFoundation input device @ 0x7f2d3e802560] AVFoundation audio devices:
[AVFoundation input device @ 0x7f2d3e802560] Soundflower (2ch)
[AVFoundation input device @ 0x7f2d3e802560] [1] Soundflower (64ch)
Though it doesn't straight forward like Linux, I had tried the following to make it happen, but was not successful : **MACOS** > **ffmpeg -i ~/Downloads/myvideo.mp4 -f avfoundation -video_device_index 0 -audio_device_index 0** resulted in this: one output file is must be specified to write the output The examples I came across in the web are just meant to be capturing audio/video through the devices as like the one here : **Example Found:-** > **ffmpeg -f avfoundation -pixel_format bgr0 -i "0:0" out.avi** But I need the command to perform the thing in the reverse way to broadcast it in a web conference. Any guidance will be highly appreciated...

Please share any inputs that I can follow to stream the audio from my Android phone and capture that as an audio input into my MacBook and save it as a m4a file in my MacBook. Is there any means to do using USB or Bluetooth mode to perform this task. I don't want any third-party apps (paid version) but any in-built or open-source tool that does this job will suffice. Please advise.

[Years ago I asked how to stream m3u radio files (music) on the iPhone](https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/322850/how-to-stream-a-m3u-file-on-ios-devices) . Revisiting my question from the past, none of the IPTV players allow to play the music when the app is in the background / when the iPhone is in standby. I think this is the case, because none those players use the default music player interface, as they are designed to play video, not audio. My question is: Is there any app that plays local m3u file radio streams through the default media player interface, so that I can enjoy radio while the iPhone is in standby? The best thing would be an alternative to RadioDroid for iOS, but it needs to come with a m3u importer. The file is locally accessible only, because it gets synced via Syncthing. To clarify, with "local m3u file radio" I mean a m3u file stored in the local iPhone storage that contains of EXTINF entries that point to online radio stations (http-URLs), such as:
#EXTM3U
#RADIOBROWSERUUID:9617a958-0601-11e8-ae97-52543be04c81
#EXTINF:-1,Radio Paradise (320k)
http://stream-uk1.radioparadise.com/aac-320

#RADIOBROWSERUUID:96156a3e-0601-11e8-ae97-52543be04c81
#EXTINF:-1,Deep House Lounge
http://198.15.94.34:8006/stream
I want to emphasize that I cannot import the m3u file itself via URL, as it's not available online.

At our school there are (not smart) BenQ multimedia projectors in every classrom, every one of these is connected to an AppleTV (AppleTVs are *not* connected to WiFi) via HDMI cable and more and more colleagues are telling me that there seems to be no way to play a video stream (or a movie from the media library they own) containing image and sound via AirPlay or even via HDMI (using the official Apple adapter) now: the sound is perfectly fine, but there is only black rectangle instead of video even if the MacBook is connected directly to the beamer via HDMI. So my question is: is there a way to stream a movie without using a Windows laptop? YouTube (not YouTube Movies!) works perfectly fine btw. Are our (quite) old projectors causing the problem? **Update:** Looks like it's a DRM problem. VGA connection (via Apple adapter) works perfectly fine: the movie and its soundtrack are there.
