Is there a similar voice command to have unread Gmail Primary Inbox emails read? I have the Gmail app installed but so far the only way I have figured out how to read emails is to navigate to each individual one and execute the two-finger down gesture.

I'm working with iOS voices for accessibility reasons. In iOS simulator I've tried to install Alex voice which is one of the most popular English voices. To choose it I downloaded it first. However, after that, the voice looks like something between enabled and disabled. E.g. for Allison I see that it's not downloaded hence it's not available for me. On the other hand, Samantha is downloaded, so I can navigate further and edit the voice, for example I can delete it. But for Alex I can't neither delete it nor select it to use later. When I try to press Erase All Content and Settings... for the simulator, sometimes it doesn't change anything, but sometimes it erases Alex voice, but situation returns after downloading this voice. Is there any other way how it Alex can be installed on the simulator?

My Macbook Pro (Touchpad, MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) turns VoiceOver on intermittently. It's annoying. It seems to happen at random, every few weeks. It happened today when the machine started up and I wasn't touching the keyboard. It had happened before whilst I was using the machine. It's disabled in the system preferences. It's not in my user's [startup items](https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/61623/disable-voiceover-on-login) . The chances of me triggering it by "pressing command and pressing the touch id three times" is zero. So I'm not sure what could be triggering it. I fear it may be faulty hardware or buggy software. That wouldn't surprise me, but I can't see many other posts out there, so I don't think it's a systematic problem. It's too intermittent that I feel like I could get anything useful from an Apple service. Any ideas what else could be causing it to activate or, failing that, how to prevent it or debug the trigger?

# What happens When I use VoiceOver (VO) together with Firefox (FF) (doesn't matter if I have all extensions disabled, even tried to run it with a completely fresh install of FF developer edition.) Then the VO focus seems to have an offset applied to it that puts it out of alignment with where the focus _should_ be (the FF focus gets it right). I have tried to supply a picture of what happens (It's a picture of the screen due to the fact that it's hard to take a screenshot of VO focus). showing the misalignment of VoiceOver focus and Firefox focus # What I tried ## check if the issue exists on _other_ browsers I tried Chrome, and the issue is not present. In my head this isolates the issue to some interaction between Firefox and VoiceOver. ## Try with a _clean_ Firefox install I tried to boot my existing FF holding down the option key, this puts it into [troubleshooting mode](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode) , so it runs without addons and customizations. Still the issue persists. In my head this isolates it to something between VO and "default" FF. So nothing I did to FF afaik. ## Try to reset VoiceOver I've tried to delete all data I could find regarding VO itself (at least what I considered "safe to remove" through web search). This meant the preferences data related to VO in ~/Library/Preferences. To wipe this I did the following:
la -1 ~/Library/Preferences | grep -i voiceover | xargs rm -rf
Still the issue persists, and now is when I feel I'm running out of options on how to narrow this issue down any further. It seems to me to happen with "default" Firefox and (to my best effort) "default" VoiceOver. Other coworkers with the a mac do not have the same issue, so I think it's some setting somewhere on my mac that causes this. But again, I'm not sure.

For example: > BTW > IMO > YMMV Is it possible to change the Speech behavior, so that when it is given "BTW," for example, it reads "by the way"?

508 Accessibility: English Siri misreads certain roman numerals

For instance, the numbers 4, 5, 9, 10 are read as the characters I-V, V, I-X, X rather their numeric equivalent. I assume this is the case for all Siri languages, but I'm only concerned with English. UPDATE: I'm not sure how I can clarify my request. Siri speaks *certain* roman numerals (not all) as characters meaning that it doesn't recognize them as numerals, but text. Why the inconsistency? It can recognize III as 3, but not recognize IX as 9? Is it because some numerals have modern uses, like IV now could be short for "intravenous", or that XI is Chinese she? How do I correct this?

I'm trying to use OS X's native voice-recognition system to speak the highlighted text using the correct language. I enabled System Preferences > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Speak selection, keeping the default of Option + Esc. In some cases, the system will correctly identify the non-English words and will speak them with the correct accent, using a different voice (female; German): ich schreibe. In other cases, the system will not correctly identify the non-English words and will speak them with the default voice (male; English): ich spreche. Is there a way to tune this?

On selecting a message containing multiple links or other interactive items in VoiceOver, how do I activate any after the default first item? Suppose an iPhone VoiceOver user receives a SMS message like this one: > Hello! Your order number 12345 is ready, you can check status on our website or app here https://app.example.com/orders/12345 With VoiceOver on, the number 12345 is treated as an interactive item, so most gestures I try on such a message select the number, not the link. If I open the message's context menu, or swipe down to "Actions - default", or if I do any of the things described in this Apple forum thread ["How do I open links on accessibility voiceover?"](https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6697603) , it only activates the number and gives me the option to copy the number to the clipboard. How can a VoiceOver user reach a link that isn't the first interactive item in the message?

Very often, as I'm listening to an article being read by an American English voice with swipe-down "Speak Screen" or selected-text "Speak Selection." A date or number would be spelled in Dutch by the Dutch voice, or a name in French by the French voice, which would often prompt that voice to take over and continue reading to me the English text with the same enthusiasm, even if the words make absolutely no sense: It's just English with a terrible French or Dutch accent. I haven't found a way to turn this autonomous language switch off. I looked in Accessibility -> Speech and Accessibility -> VoiceOver to no avail. There hasn't been a single time in which said feature was useful, I don't read multi-languages text, or see why a date or a number should be spelled in Dutch. I don't speak or use either language.

Very frustrating change here. Using VoiceOver with *Use scroll gesture with modifier keys to zoom* enabled in **System Preferences > Accessibility > Zoom**, VoiceOver will echo the zoom level while holding the modifier key and scrolling the mouse wheel. It seems to be a new accessibility feature in Big Sur but I need to disable it — super annoying. I've looked through some plist files for VoiceOver and accessibility preferences but there is nothing relevant to zoom. No new relevant options in VoiceOver Utility nor the Accessibility pane in System Preferences. Maybe someone might know if there was a way to disable echo for adjusting screen brightness or system volume on the keyboard? It could be tied in there somewhere but I don't know where to look for that. Thank you very much
