Three years ago, I stopped using
Evolution
. Currently, I go back to Evolution
when I need to review an old email. I would like to export the old emails out of Evolution and remove Evolution all together.
How can I export emails from Evolution? I found no way to export emails from Evolution to anything at all. (mbox? maildir? I don't see any way to do this)
How do I do it?

What key modifiers are supported for keyboard shortcuts in Evolution?

I am running Evolution 3.56 under Xorg in an xfce 4.20 session on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. With my keyboard layout, if I run Emacs and ask it to tell me what the meaning of a key is (Ctrl-h k), and then hit the key labeled with the "Windows" icon and (say) the "s" key, it tells me that is the "super-s" key and shows me what it does. Similarly, if I open xfce "Keyboard Settings" and select the "Application Shortcuts" tab and click add and enter any command (say "chromium") and click on OK, I can then press the "Windows" key and "b" and it assigns that shortcut to "Super+B".
On the other hand, if I run Evolution, and select "Views > Layout > Customize..." and choose an action and select the Shortcuts panel and click "Add", and press the "Windows" key and "s", it reports just "s" as the shortcut, and there does not seem to be any behavior difference between just hitting "s" and hitting "Windows" and "s" at the same time anywhere in the Evolution user interface, so far as I can tell.
So my questions are:
(1) What keyboard modifiers does Evolution support?
(2) Is there any way (short of a pull request to the Evolution codebase) to configure Evolution to recognize a fourth modifier beyond Shift, Control, and Alt?
It's not really that Shift, Control, and Alt aren't "enough", it's just that some other applications I am using, like emacs, are interpreting "Windows" + key in various ways, and I would like to set similar key bindings in Evolution if possible.

I am getting this weird error where after a restart, the mail client evolution does not connect to any of my email accounts (I get errors about "Timeout reached" popping up in my client, see screenshot below). I say it is weird, because it only happens sometimes and when I restart the computer the problem is usually gone (it happens maybe 50% of the time when I restart - it is very annoying!).
I think this issue might have something to do with the gnome keyring (when I login, I get a a popup telling me to unlock the keyring with a password, which I can succesfully complete).
I have no idea how to diagnose this problem (i.e., which logfiles to look at etc), any help would be very much appreciated!

I use Evolution 3.42.4 under OpenSUSE Leap 15.5 on x86 hardware.
I want to do an advanced search for calendar events of a particular type in the future. According to my notes from previous searches, selecting "Active Appointments" used to show only future events, but this does not seem to work any more: it shows all past events matching my search conditions as well.
Is there any way of specifying a date range in an Evolution advanced search? I can't see anything. An "Expression" condition might help, but I can't find any documentation for this.

I have my inbox configured to show the newest mails on the bottom. However, when Evolution starts it always shows me the top of the inbox (where my oldest e-mails are).
How can I change this behavior so that Evolution automatically scrolls to the bottom of my inbox?
P.S.: I wouldn't mind to "flip" the inbox, so that the newest mails are on top. However with "stacked conversations" this is very confusing in Evolution, as the newest mail of each stack is on the bottom of the stack, but newer stacks are above older stacks...

I've tried following the advice here: https://help.gnome.org/users/evolution/stable/mail-save-as-pdf.html.en
But when I click on the file name to select the destination, I can't go past the Username directory. What's even more absurd is that I can't find the **.PDF** anywhere in the Terminal!
I also tried entering the code:
gsettings set org.gnome.evolution.mail drag-and-drop-save-file-format 'pdf'
I just get the message *No such schema “org.gnome.evolution.mail”*
Evolution was installed as flatpak through the Fedora Software Center.

cp -r ~/.local/share/evolution/ ~/path_to_backupdir/mail-backup/local/
tar -czvf mail-backup.tar.gz ~/path_to_backupdir/mail-backup/
That provides a
mail-backup.tar.gz
file, and either using the builtin method in the gui of File>Restaurate Evolution Data
or the backup script
#!/bin/bash
tar xvf mail-backup.tar.gz
cd mail-backup/
cd config
mv evolution/ ~/.config/
cd ..
cd local
mv evolution/ ~/.local/share/
Evolution does nothing, or simply says "back_up_file" is not valid, checked the permissions on the back up files and directories and are the same; when looking at the terminal it says something about a mismatch but I don't know how to interpret it:
**evolution-backup-Message: 20:23:35.948: First result 0
evolution-backup-Message: 20:24:09.583: Second result 256
module-backup-restore-Message: 20:24:09.590: Sanity check result 1:1 256

Google was distinctly unhelpful in this case. I'm running Evolution 3.4.4. Using additional software packages that talk to the Evolution server is perfectly fine.

(I'm running PureOS 8.0 so any Debian-based solution should work.)

Sometimes my Evolution mail will stop syncing with my Google contacts and calendars, and will give me this error message.
> The name :1.36 was not provided by any .service files
When Googling this error, it turns out that it comes up in other software too, such as Sound Juicer. But I'm getting it in Evolution. Those are both Gnome apps, if that's relevant.
What could be the common thread between these instances of this cryptic error message, and does anyone know specifically what the error message means?
Usually I avoid this by re-creating the syncing between Evolution and Google, but that's an arduous process and I'd rather know what the error means so maybe it can be avoided.

Problem connecting to MS Office365 e-mail with Evolution

Failed to obtain access token from address “https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/oauth2/token” : Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.secrets: Failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.secrets': timed out (service_start_timeout=120000ms)
When I try to connect to the mailbox in Evolution, a window pops up with my organization's authentication page; however, when I go through that I get the above error message.
I am using Arch Linux and I have Gnome-Keyring installed; however, I am using OpenRC rather than systemd and I wonder if that might be part of the issue. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I can connect to an Office365 mailbox with Evolution?

I'm running Evolution 3.0.2 (stack from a Fedora 15 install). I have a CSV file with a few contacts. This file was created by a Samsung software, when backing up an old telephone I had.
If I go to
File
-> Import...
-> Import a single file
and select my file I'm giving three options for File Type
:
1. Evolution CSV or Tab (.csv, .tab)
2. Mozilla CSV or Tab (.csv, .tab)
3. Outlook CSV or Tab (.csv, .tab)
I've tried importing using all of the three options but not a single of them seems to work: the destination location is unmodified.
The Samsung-generated file is quite verbose. This is it's first line:

I was running Evolution on Debian buster (testing) amd64 with GnuPG to encrypt mails. I have my GPG private key on a YubiKey actings as GPG smartcard. As Evolution somehow failed to load my calendars using CalDAV, I [resetted Evolution](https://askubuntu.com/a/243220/) . CalDAV is working fine now.
But after the reset another issue appeared: GPG encrypting/signing isn't working anymore. Mails are decrypted without problems.
Furthermore, I can not choose my own GPG key in the account's settings, even if it is imported properly and gets listed in
I'm now able to choose my key.
When I try to send an encryoted mail this fails with Evolution showing the following error:
Could not create message.
You may need to select different mail options.
Detailed error: Failed to encrypt: Invalid recipient specified. A common issue is that the gpg2 doesn’t have imported public key for this recipient.
But my public key **is** imported. The same thing happens when I disable the option
gpg -K
:

Always encrypt to myself when sending encrypted messages with this account
. The error then is:
Detailed error: Failed to encrypt: Invalid recipient specified. A common issue is that the gpg2 doesn’t have imported public key for this recipient.
Encrypting/signing from command line with the gpg
command works fine. Using a private key which is not on a smartcard also did not work. Resetting both GPG and Evolution did not work.
I don't have any idea now what I should do now. Thank you all in advance :)
**EDIT**: output of strace -p $(pidof evolution) -f -e trace=execve
when decrypting (works fine):
[pid 4613] execve("/usr/local/bin/gpg2", ["gpg2", "--verbose", "--no-secmem-warning", "--no-greeting", "--no-tty", "--status-fd=66", "--command-fd=67", "--verify-options", "show-photos", "--photo-viewer", "/usr/lib/evolution/camel-gpg-pho"..., "--decrypt", "--output", "-"], [/* 34 vars */]) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)

doesn't exist and seems not to be [part of any Debian package](https://packages.debian.org/search?suite=buster&arch=any&mode=exactfilename&searchon=contents&keywords=%2Fusr%2Flocal%2Fbin%2Fgpg2) .
**EDIT2**: The command @Hauke Laging posted in the comments works, but I interactively needed to confirm to execute the action (as it also was when I manually encrypted using the command line):
echo foo | /usr/bin/gpg2 --status-fd=1 --encrypt --armor -u my@mail.address -r recipients@mail.address --output -
While the command which Evolution wants to execute fails (I removed the `` as that causes issues with zsh):
➜ ~ gpg2 --verbose --no-secmem-warning --no-greeting --no-tty --batch --yes --status-fd=67 --encrypt --armor -u my@mail.address -r recipients@mail.address --output
gpg: Fatal: status-fd is invalid: Bad file descriptor
Setting --status-fd=1
still fails, but with different errors:
➜ ~ echo "foo" | gpg2 --verbose --no-secmem-warning --no-greeting --no-tty --batch --yes --status-fd=1 --encrypt --armor -u my@mail.address -r recipients@mail.address --output -

**EDIT3:** Just tested: signing messages from Evolution works as well as decrypting.
When I manually encrypt a message using the command line, I get the following message which I think causes this issue:
➜ ~ echo "foo" | gpg --encrypt -r recipients@mail.address --armor
gpg: automatically retrieved 'recipients@mail.address' via Local
gpg: : There is no assurance this key belongs to the named user
sub rsa4096/ 2015-10-14 Recipient's Name
Primary key fingerprint:
Subkey fingerprint:
It is NOT certain that the key belongs to the person named
in the user ID. If you *really* know what you are doing,
you may answer the next question with yes.
Use this key anyway? (y/N) y
-----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-----
[...]
-----END PGP MESSAGE-----
**EDIT4**: As the message above is caused by missing ownertrust (at least I think so), I'd like to set the recipient's ownertrust using gpg --edit-key
(which was not set before):
gpg> trust
pub rsa4096/
created: expires: usage: SCA
trust: unknown validity: unknown
sub rsa4096/
created: expires: usage: E
[ unknown] (1). Pecipient's Name
Please decide how far you trust this user to correctly verify other users' keys
(by looking at passports, checking fingerprints from different sources, etc.)
1 = I don't know or won't say
2 = I do NOT trust
3 = I trust marginally
4 = I trust fully
5 = I trust ultimately
m = back to the main menu
Your decision? 3
pub rsa4096/
created: expires: usage: SCA
trust: marginal validity: unknown
sub rsa4096/
created: expires: usage: E
[ unknown] (1). Pecipient's Name
So I set the recipient's ownertrust, but why is there still this [ unknown]
at the end?

The missing functionality is this:
click on calendar item@top bar
--> open default calendar's details about this calendar item
.
Is it configurable, and if yes how, to make gnome-shell calendar open a specific calendar app when clicking onto a calendar item?

Zoom scheduling support in Evolution
I have recently started using Zoom, and would love if there is anyway of scheduling meetings in zoom through the calendar in Evolution. Evolution is already linked to an Exchange server for the calendar etc. Has anyone been able to do this?
