phone boots up. The sony logo brightens at one
point, press during that time

I am working on an Xperia Ray ST18i otherwise known as urushi, unlocked, rooted, last running stock 4.0.4.
I was unable to install CWM with ROM manager app, which said it was incompatible with ST18i. I tried to install TWRP, same response. I tried to install CWM with x-Parts app, it said that it installed, but there was nothing there. Finally I found a tip to use the installer of older version of CWM, 5.027. I installed it, and it worked. The installer app recognized the device as an ST18i. I tested that I could reboot into recovery and operate it. Made nandroid backup.
Now attempting to install carbon rom 4.4.x.
Copied zip to sd card.
I extracted the boot.img, installed with fastboot, which responded with Flash operation complete.
Rebooted into recovery.
Wipe data.
Wipe cache.
Wipe dalvik.
Install zip.
Select zip file.
CWM starts installing.
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
However, aborts with error message: This package is for "ST18i,ST18a,urushi" devices; this is a "".
(Status 7) Installation Aborted.
Now it appears that the package is correct, the device is an ST18i. But it appears that CWM thinks the device is a "".
I tried the option "toggle script asserts" to disable, but it made no difference. (not sure if that is relevant)
Elsewhere on the web for someone who had a problem because the name in the package did not did not match name on device, I read some advice about decompressing the zip and editing the updater-script, and re-zipping it and pushing it to the sd card to flash.
However, what would I even put in there for the device type, "" ?
Or is it possible to comment out that check altogether?
Or is there a way to correctly specify to CWM what kind of device it is?
Or is there another solution?
(and as an aside, is there a better recovery for the Xperia Ray than CWM 5.027?)
Thank you for your assistance.

This sounds to me, that the prop doesen't get the right string "ST18i" which is strange, cause that's exactly my model.
Do I have to downgrade or install something else first?
I also tried to install the old image Xperia Ray (ST18i)_4.0.2.A.0.42_CE.zip again, but there is just sais "installation aborted".
Are there different Rescue Menues? I read, someone tried reinstalled his rescue menu with Odin.
I installed my Recovery Mod with the app **x-Parts** from Google Play that app installs the CWM.

I'd like to check the manufacturing date of an Xperia Ray. The easy way is by looking at the sticker under the battery, but I'm trying to convey this to a potential seller, and I would prefer something that doesn't involve taking apart the phone. I've read on Yahoo answers that
*#9999#
should do it, but it's normally a Nokia [service code](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supplementary_service_codes) so I doubt the accuracy. I've also found *#*#4636#*#*
(info) and *#*#7378423#*#*
(service), which may have what I need inside of a menu. Can anyone give me a more reliable answer?

I would like to know whether the bootloader on my xperia ray is locked or unlocked one. I bought it from ebay & with seller warranty (or you can say no warranty). It was a great deal & I didn't need warranty too as I was going to root it.
I haven't done anything to unlock my boot loader till now. Used x-parts (auto CWM installer) to test some roms. How do I know the phone I received, has bootloader locked or unlocked?

I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray.
When i first bought the phone, it came with a 4GB class 2 microSD without a brand name.
I could play games without problems and it was pretty stable.
Then I bought a cheap 32GB microSD without any class. I moved my files from the old card into a new one by copy-pasting them. When I play games (mostly big-sized games) the games will sometimes suddenly crash to homescreen without any "force close" option.
Then I thought it was maybe because of the cheap microSD so I bought a new Transcend 32 GB class 10 microSDHC. It is fast enough for HD games, and I'm satisfied with it, but the same problem happens - games will sometimes crash to homescreen.
Is this because of my storage space? Maybe I installed too much stuff on it? I have 80 MB free space. Maybe this is the cause?
My phone condition:
- Rooted
- No other modifications applied.

I am using these with my Sony Ericsson Ray but I am unable to use the microphone on the headphones.
When I plug the headphones into my phone it comes up with

So I have to use an adaptor/converter but this only allows me to listen to my headphones, not use the controls on them? How can I fix this?
