I have a Sony Xperia U, and my 8GB of memory are divided in three parts: 2GB phone memory, 4 GB internal memory (replacing the MicroSD slot) and 2GB that I haven't really figured out about. I don't want to mess with repartition. I just want to use each one as they must be used. The problem is: many apps are optimized to save many things in SD, but for this phone it is not really useful, as it has plenty of space in phone memory! What can I do to make automatic created app data use internal memory **only**, leaving SD (internal, in Xperia U's case) free for my own use? Edit: Thank you for your answers! I have this strange issue in Sony Xperia U. Currently I am using 6.1.1.B.1.100 bulid ICS 4.0.4. There is no option in mobile network to select 2g or 3g or 2g/3g. All I have is Use only 3g networks in my settings. But I managed to select 2g network from the code *#*4636#*#* (**Phone info**) and select GSM only in Select prefferred network type. But the problem is this when I am using 2g data( to save juice) whenever I get a missed call after that my mobile data is unavailable( I know unlike 3g in 2g you cant use data during voice call but this is after the missed call). This is not happening if I am in 3g and only for missed calls alone. The only way I am able to use the data again is I have to enable 3g again and change back to 2g. Is this normal? Any workaround for this? I didnt find this when I am using previous build.

I shut my phone off and turned my phone back on in my pocket and it automatically was in safe mode. I couldn't find apps I had installed and some of my widgets aren't working. What happened to my phone and how could I get it to be "normal" again?

There is some way to active developer options in 2.3.7? When I bought my Xperia U, they came with developer options and 2.3.7 android. How it works? I tried press 7 times on build number and those thing, but nothing worked, someone can help me, PLEASE? I don't want to use ICS, JB or some different android. Thank you, guys! 

I have a Sony Xperia U running Android 4.0.4 ICS. The problem is that it runs really slowly. It is particularly bad while multi-tasking. While listening to music, if I get a phone call, it hangs. Vibrator starts but the ringtone doesn't. The "Incoming Call" screen doesn't come up, etc. Has anyone used this phone with Gingerbread? If so, how was their experience? I followed the steps in here , but my Battery Monitor says 43% Screen and 23% Android OS, which isn't really helpful! Are there any particular apps that are responsible for this? Why is ICS slow on this device? I mean, 1.0 GHz dual core and 512 MB of RAM is not less! edit: The first thing I did after buying it was to upgrade it to ICS via Sony PC Companion. The phone has been like this ever since. I phoned Xperia Support and also did a Firmware Repair (again via PC Companion) and a Factory Reset, but it's no use.

I'm using stock Sony Xperia U. Data connection was working well until yesterday. All of a sudden I can't access 2G/3G data, it shows network state "UNKNOWN" when checked with the code *#*#4636#*#*. I've tried flashing custom firmware, stock etc, but in all it shows network state "UNKNOWN"

1. I had updated my Xperia U to 4.0, after updating my phone am unable to use otg... one app was showing that drive unavailable. 2. Can't use call recording softwares it will record only my voice without opponents. 3. Getting too slow while using Chrome and few social working apps even camera. 4. How to downgrade to 2.3, & can we use pattern lock,music player, data softwares of 4.0 in 2.3?

I previously used Ubuntu 12.04. When I connected my phone (Sony Xperia U) in MTP mode, I would be able to see it in Nautilus as a "SEMC HSUSB device" and browse files, copy files, and so on. Now, I have a new laptop and I've installed Ubuntu 12.10 on it. My device is not recognised any more by Nautilus - I can see that the OS recognises it by seeing the entries that appear in /var/log/syslog - but the phone does not get mounted and I can't think of any way to access the files on the phone and put new files there except the terribly slow Bluetooth. Has anyone else faced such an issue? Can you help?

Can Sony Xperia U be connected to a Y-Cable to provide extra power for OTG to avoid phone battery consumption? I'm asking this because the phone is already giving power ,will that make a short circuit or it's normal?

I have a Sony Xperia U with Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread. I don't know exactly if the SMS composer is Android's or belongs to Sony's launcher, so I don't know if the question applies to all Gingerbread users or only Sony's. I'd like to see the character count when typing SMSs, and I can't see that setting available. Do you know if it's possible to enable it or I need to replace the texting application? Also, is it possible to do it without rooting or flashing?

I've been having problems for some time with my phone connecting to my pc/charger which Sony advised me to correct with the latest update. However, when I tried the update failed twice and now my phone just shows an error screen with an exclamation mark and phone. Can't do anything with it at all. What can I do to fix it?
