Searching for and copying Android app text elements running it on a PC

Problem: some Android apps present large portions of text and/or large forms, which, unlike web pages, are not friendly to searching or copy-pasting. Consider a generated value (like ticket reservation id, but longer) that you can't search for (to verify) or select (to copy). Can we somehow run this unfriendly app on a PC and have a browser-like (maybe even devtools-like) interaction with its whole layout, doing anything we want with the displayed text values? What simulator or VM could help?

If you slowly try to move the line to expose more of the script line and then attempt to move the blue end mark of selection to select more of it, it will select everything else in the thread at the top. Is there any other way to select a script line? enter image description here Here everything gets selected. And the *Select All* option will select everything in the post. It is impossible to select the line. enter image description here

The default android behaviour when interacting with editable text seems to be to move the cursor to the end of the word you've touched, regardless of your touch location. This is undesirable in many situations, e.g. if you have a stylus or a precise hand or a big screen and big text, or custom left and right arrows on your navigation bar, or a very long string without spaces. Is there any way to prevent android from moving your cursor?

Nexus 6P, Android O (8.0.0), not rooted. When I long-press (or double-tap) a word in a textarea field, often the result is that much more than the targeted word is selected. Roughly two lines of text may end up selected. Obviously this makes text selection more difficult, because then I have to use the handles on the selection to resize it to just the word I wanted. This doesn't occur every time, and I'm having a hard time understanding why/when it does or doesn't occur. I normally use Swype as my keyboard, but I tried switching to GBoard and saw the same behavior, so I don't think it's related to the keyboard. I've seen this behavior in Twitter, Fenix (third-party Twitter app) and Google Keep (maybe other apps but I don't remember). But like I said: not always. I've never had this problem before Android O. Has anybody observed such a behavior? Is there any known fix for it? One thing I'm beginning to note as I write this post: this problem doesn't seem to occur if the text is in English; only if the text is in French. It seems a little weird but it's the only criteria that I'm able to discern for now. (I use both languages frequently; I have Android itself set to English.) Example (screenshot below): long-pressing any word after "montre" (first line) results in this exact selection. Long pressing any word before (and including) "montre" gives the normal result (only one word selected). (In case you're wondering, the selected text has absolutely nothing to do with Google Maps.) Example of incorrect selection **UPDATE** No solution found yet, but in case it helps somebody, I noticed that once this larger selection is set, you can tap a _third time_ on the word you want to select, and then the selection will be reduced to this word. So the problem is not as bad as I first thought. No need to use the selection handles, you just have to tap three times instead of two.

Android Oreo came with a new "smart text selection" feature that uses AI code to make smart decisions about selecting text such as addresses and phone numbers. However, in my experience this works very poorly on my Nexus 5x where I write (and select) a roughly equal amount of text in English and Swedish (system language is set to English). In particular the smart text selection results in Swedish are complete garbage. I have yet to see the smart text selection feature make an accurate guess of what text to select. On the contrary, it very often makes completely illogical selections when tapping words in regular text flow (ie. text not structured as addresses, phone numbers or similar) that seem to have rather random starting and ending points. I always have to tap the intended word again to get the actual word I want to select, and the number of times I have accidentally deleted a large chunk of text due to this feature is driving me nuts. Here's an example (that works fine in English, but not in Swedish): If I were to tap "newspaper" in the following sentence the "smart text selection" feature would accuretely select this word (newspaper). > "Regarding the newspaper subscription: I'd like to have it cancelled > by the end of the tryout period." If however I were to write that same sentence in Swedish and again tap the (Swedish word for) newspaper the "smart text selection" feature would select all text from the word "newspaper" to the word "cancelled", which makes no sense. (Note, this example is made up and of course depends on the exact translation of the example sentence) Please, is there any way I can disable the disable "smart text selection" feature. I have looked all over the settings menu and googled for information, but I have failed to find an answer. Thanks. Harware: Nexus 5x Software: Android: 8.0.0

I wonder if there is ability to replicate this feature from iOS : iOS text to speech selection In iOS you can turn on Accessibility function that add the "Speak" button to the "selection menu". And if you click, it would turn on Text To Speech engine and read selected text. Can I do the same thing in Android ? Thank you very much in advance PS: I assume that regular app could not modify "copy, paste, cut menu" so I probably need custom ROM.

I would like to edit some text on my way home, however I found that in Android there is no way to simply select some text to delete or change it. You have to first locate the cursor or long press the screen to enable selection, then drag the cursor for selection. This is quite inconvenient. I tried Jota Text Editor, 920 Editor, Note Everything and Evernote - no one offers a simple method to select text directly. Is there any way to do this?

I know how to select text (in a view) using the touch screen. Is it possible to do the same via keyboard only? If possible, please provide a way to do this on the emulator (I need this for a programming task).
