I have a HUAWEI P20 phone and I am using the native Google Photos app to organize my photos on this device. Only the Camera folder is set for automatic upload to the cloud. I am using Viber and WhatsApp on this phone. Their image folders are not uploaded automatically to Google Photos in the cloud and I do not need this, so that automatic uploading for this folders is turned off. I also have a couple of albums in Google Photos to which I add particular photos from the Camera, Viber Images and WhatsApp Images folders. The problem is that only photos from the Camera and Viber Images folders I added to my albums on my HUAWEI device appear in the cloud (when I view them online at https://photos.google.com/) . The images from the WhatsApp Images folder I add to the albums never appear online. Does anybody know how to solve this problem? ---------- P.S. I've looked at full image paths in Viber Images and WhatsApp Images folders to find any difference that may lead to this effect. It seems, paths for Viber and WhatsApp images have the same structure and this is not the source of the problem: /storage/emulated/0/WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Images/IMG-20200108-WA0000.jpg /storage/emulated/0/viber/media/Viber Images/IMG-9104f1a4b3f873e1d9c8806bb9a8bd25-V.jpg And sure, I am using the latest official firmware on my phone.

I'm looking for something to automatically upload/sync photos from my phone to my PC or server. Anybody knows of something that could fit my use case? My requirements: - upload only files older than some date - I just want new photos, not all the old stuff that I already have - don't reupload files I've deleted on the server/PC - I put the photos in different folders after putting them on the PC - private / open source / FOSS - I don't want for them to get in Google's (or some other company's) hands. What I've tried: - syncthing - can't choose to upload stuff starting from a date, reuploads things I delete from the sync folder - NextCloud - doesn't have one-way upload feature I've been thinking about writing something that runs periodically on my phone and just pushes the photos to some S3-compatible storage, and a PC component that pulls them. The problem is that without rooting you can't have reliable cron. Even if I would make it work with Termux somehow, Android could deny network access. I know that paid Dropbox can do exactly what I want, but l'm hesitant to give them access to all my photos.

I have the following use case: 1. Make photo with Android phone 2. Use that photo in a web application in Chrome, in my PC, by clicking on the button "attach file" which opens a file browser. I want to avoid being force to send anything anywhere. I just want to click the "attach file" button in the web page and be able to select the photo that I just made with my phone. Currently my workflow is a nightmare: 1. Make photo 2. Send it from my phone with WhatsApp, on a chat with myself 3. Go to my computer, to the https://web.whatsapp.com tab 4. Open the chat with myself 5. Download the photo to my computer 6. Go to the webpage where I want to access the photo. Instead of WhatsApp I could use email or any other sharing mechanism. It would still be a pita. I have sync setup in my Chrome for Android, so that passwords and so on are automatically shared. Can I do something similar with photos?

I have been trying to upload xml data from the internal memory of my android phone to Dropbox. However, it only works when I use a virtual device. I currently believe that it is because the phone isn't rooted (i.e. I can access /data/data/appname/files in the file explorer for the virtual device but not the android phone) which is required to access the app's allocated internal memory. Is there a way to do this without rooting the phone?

Today in their Keynote at Google I/O, Google announced their new Photos app that does most of what they did with my photos when they auto-uploaded to Google+, but with a few and some significant additions and differences. My devices are currently uploading to the new Google Photos but my question is, **since my pictures are/were already being auto-uploaded to Google+ Auto-Backup already, will those show up in Photos as well?** Or am I starting out fresh?
