When trying to update my Xperia Play with PC Companion, it fails to install the drivers for my device. I plug it in, it tries up until it says a problem has occurred installing the hardware.
I've tried its recommended diagnostic advice, null.
Edit: Just installed the update on another computer. It seems to work fine. If you don't have a spare, try a VM.

I factory reset my Sony Xperia Play because unfortunately it had become unusable. I factory reset it again and cleared the data after leaving the Market app to update itself didn't work. The Xperia Play is connected to wifi and I'm using an app password set via my Google account but the Market app crashes and a network error message pop-ups. Has anyone managed to get the Google Play store back after a factory reset?

I want to root Xperia Play for saving internal space. I don't want to unlock bootloader.
Will I lose all my messages, contacts, settings, etc by rooting?
Please guide me with links to the software for rooting if possible.

Meaning of purple blinking on Sony Ericsson Play (R800)?

Now, when I connect a mobile on USB charger and press the power button, the screen quickly blinks for less than 1s and then then **purple light keeps blinking (flashing)**.
The purple light is coming from the **LED on the power button**. When I connect the charger the screen first turn to green, I think. And when I try to turn the mobile on, the screen turns to purple blinking light.
what is the meaning of the purple light? I cannot find the meaning on the Internet.

Whenever I try the command to check for the phone in cmd the phone shows no response as if he wasn't connected.
What am I doing wrong?

I did tighten the digitizer cable after this, no dice.

Sony Xperia Play CDMA to GSM
I have an Xperia Play that was originally with Verizon and therefore using CDMA. I want to use it with the Rogers network now. I've read that the Qualcomm chip inside supports both types of networks by default. Is it possible to change it to GSM?

Hi guys i've been trying for quite a while to unlock the bootloader of the phone i've bought. It's from hong kong and branded to vodafone it's not sim locked as I tried an optus sim and it worked.
I press and hold the search button and plug the usb in and I get a blue light but when I try to check if fastboot can find it, it can't.
Any ideas what the problem is?

I was typing a huge text and I am really upset that I will have to re-type the entire thing, knowing it is in my phone somewhere, unless the manual from Sony Ericsson written specifically for this phone is totally wrong. Even though the manual says it is saved, it also is too vague on conveying where this draft folder is.
Can any one help me? This had been am ongoing issue and this "unfinished draft" location must have 400 messages in it by now. I am totally confused. The manual said to goto the "Time Save" app but I don't even think that's correct.
