I recently lost the SIM card tray for my device, and Sony sent me out a new one. I inserted the new tray with the SIM, however now I get no signal. I occassionally pick up signal in a few certain places in the center of town, but that's it. 99% of the time it just shows an empty signal bar. The thing is, if I go to *Settings>Mobile Networks>Network Operators* and search for networks, it will find multiple networks most of the time, including my network (TPO) however, when I click to connect, it just says '*Registering on TPO*' and just stays on this screen with the icon spinning. I had this issue with an EE SIM, now I'm having the same issue with a SIM from The People's Operator, so I don't think it is the SIM. I've also tried two SIM card trays, one from Sony and one from a third party seller. Any ideas why I can't get any signal? Getting Desperate now.
Don't think I can send it back to Sony even though I've only had it a couple of months as I had the screen repaired, which I'm guessing voids the warranty.

My Xperia Z is stuck int a bootloop. It goes up to the colorful waves and then it restarts. It was connected with USB in charging mode. Suddenly, it starts restarting. I thought it might be carrying out some of its processes, but even after an hour of restarts, it failed to start normally. Now my battery is completely drained. I want to recover/restore it to factory settings, but I can't because of bootloops. The phone is only two months old, and I do not want to format and restore flash files via flashtools as suggested on the XDA forums. Getting into recovery mode and restoring from there will be preferred, instead of flashing. My last resort will be a Sony Service Center.

Using stock ROM without root, any apps or functions that could set brightness to low for saving battery are either uninstalled or turned off? Any suggestions?

I am trying to get the fastboot driver for Sony Xperia ZR (dogo) for Windows 7 x64. I found [a page with instructions](https://sites.google.com/site/projectfreexperia/download/bootloader-unlock) which pointed me to a [Sony site where you can download a android_winusb.inf file](http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/fastboot-driver/) which one is supposed to copy over the one in the Android SDK folder under extras\google\usb_driver\. Then, I put the phone into fastboot mode by 1. Powering it off 2. Pushing the Volume Up button while connecting the phone via USB to the PC. 3. The light turns blue and in the Windows Device Manager, I can see a new S1Boot Fastboot entry under Other devices. After right-clicking on that entry and selecting Update Driver Software..., then Browse my computer for driver software, I pointed to the Android SDK folder where I previously put the android_winusb.inf file (see above). Unfortunately after clicking Next, there is a message Windows was unable to install your S1Boot Fastboot and Windows could not find driver software for your device. On [this thread](https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-developers/43SK5vj0kls) , I found a link to a [thread on XDA Developers](http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034087) where one can download a "fastboot package" and "32/64bit drivers", but I am hesitant because these are EXE files from an unknown source and the thread's title suggests this is for Xperia Arc, not ZR. Are there any "official" drivers for my phone? **UPDATE:** I also found [a great Sony webpage listing "All Android downloads"](http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/all-android/) which has white papers, source code and drivers for all(?) devices, except the drivers for the ZR are missing. **UPDATE 2:** I have seen [this comment](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/23122/how-to-install-fastboot-drivers#comment27216_23122) to a question concerning fastboot drivers and USB device IDs, so I tried to replace device IDs for SingleAdbInterface, CompositeAdbInterface and SingleBootLoaderInterface (sequentially, not all at once) with the one which I got from the Device Manager, which is USB\VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE&REV_0100. Unfortunately this didn't make any difference, the drivers are still not recognised.

With this I'll most likely get one with USB c instead of now micro USB. I have quite a few cables for recharging (1-3 at home, at work, and one for my powerbank) all of those are micro USB and still work fine, some of them are long cables so they weren't that cheap. My question now is: is there any downside to buying adapters and sticking them on my already owned cables or should I have replace them? (clearly not all of them as I still have other stuff that charges with micro USB)

Yesterday I accidentally dropped my Sony Xperia Z5 Compact on the ground (from a height of about half a meter), and it appears to be broken since then. Details: The screen was clearly on, but showed black. However, it still responded to touch on the places where the buttons should be. Rebooting by holding down the power button didn't work. Force shutdown by holding both the power button and the volume up button did work. When I rebooted, the screen remained black (but was turned on). It still responds to touches on certain spots where buttons should be. When trying to unlock it blindly, I found the emergency call keyboard. I tried connecting the phone to my computer, and it recognizes the phone, but sees it as offline, or disconnected. I seem to have no way of remotely accessing it. Is there anything else I can try without having it repaired at a retail store?

I've got an old Sony Xperia Z running Cyanogenmod which is pretty unstable. I'd like to remove Cyanogenmod & do a factory reset to the default Sony Xperia Z ROM. It doesn't need to do much - just run Spotify & Google Maps in our car. However flashing a Sony Phone with a factory ROM requires a special tool (FlashTool ) & a special file format (FTF). Running FlashTool on Ubuntu 16.04 my phone connects in flash mode, but then reboots into Cyanogenmod after the "Preparing the files for flashing" step. I had assumed this was something to do with Cyanogenmod. INFO - Device connected in flash mode INFO - Selected Bundle for Sony Xperia Z(C6603). FW release : 10.5.A.0.230. Customization : C6603_1270-4066 INFO - Preparing files for flashing INFO - Device disconnected How do remove Cyanogenmod from a Sony Xperia Z & restore it to it's factory ROM? If that isn't possible what can I replace Cyanogenmod with?

I understand that I will not receive any notifications (news/updates ... ) if I turn off notifications. I can check updates manually. Thank you!

I have an old Sony Xperia Z I want to use in my car to use Spotify/ Google Maps/ Google Navigation/ Android Auto. The phone is running Cyanogenmod 13.0-20161219-NIGHTLY-yuga / Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). There are hardly any apps installed and I've got pretty much every single power saving feature switched on but the battery is still draining in a little under 24 hours. Google App & Google Play Services make up the bulk of the battery usage. I've setup the phone to only wakeup when it's charging and go to sleep when it's not - so this battery usage is happening when the phone is (theoretically) asleep. To complicate things Cyanogenmod is defunct and LineageOS doesn't have support for the Sony Xperia Z. Is there a known issue with/ fix for this battery drain? Or should I install another custom ROM (and if so, which one?)
